Chapter 128: Chapter 127 Small Folded Note

Olivia was gathering her things when she felt Lucian’s presence beside her.

"You did good today," he said casually.

Olivia didn’t answer. She didn’t trust her voice not to break.

Lucian stepped closer, his voice dropping to a soft murmur. "You’re not weak, Olivia. You’re just carrying more weight than anyone here."

She blinked rapidly, locking all her emotions in a metal safe. "Thanks," she muttered, shoving her sword into its sheath.

Speaking of the sword, she had been unable to find the sword Luke had gifted her, she had searched everywhere in the forest but couldn’t find it.

Then It has to be with one of his squad. Her brain tried to think of ways to get it back, when suddenly she felt a warm feather-like sensation on her hand, a soothing reminder that she had someone beside her.

The gesture made her look up, her eyes met with Lucian’s warm gaze. His hand wrapped around hers, before pulling her into a hug.

A cry escaped her lips, before she crashed into his arms. For a moment everything seemed silent until her heart began to pulse in her ears, her locked emotions trying to break out from the metal cage they were trapped in.

His scent invaded her nostrils, the warmth of his body radiating into her skin.

She struggled to break away from his hug, but his hand tightened around her.

"Shh. Stay still."

Her body immediately stopped moving, betraying her thoughts. She wanted to get away from him, she believed she had no right to feel this way. But just that tiny part of her wanted to indulge in this a little longer.

Her body stiffened, when he suddenly buried his head on the nook of her neck. His hot breath fanned her skin, sending a bolt of shivers down her spine.

Olivia stiffened when she felt Lucian’s breath against her neck.

"Can we stay like this for two minutes?" he asked, his voice low and rough.

Her lips parted as she forced herself to respond. "Why should I?"

"Because I need it. And so do you," he answered, his voice hoarse and manly.

Then he pulled back just enough to meet her eyes. His gaze was burning with emotions she couldn’t decipher. "Because I need it. And so do you."

Olivia swallowed hard. She should push him away, should tell him that they couldn’t afford this. But she didn’t move. She just stood there, letting the silence wrap around them like a blanket.

For the first time in a long while, she didn’t feel like she was falling apart.

Lucian eventually let her go, his hand lingering on her shoulder a little longer than necessary.

"Meeting you was the best thing that have ever happened to me," he said quietly.

She looked away, biting the inside of her cheek to stop the emotions from bubbling out.

Before she could respond, a voice called out across the training ground.

"Lucian. Come with me."

It was Stefan, standing a distance away, arms crossed and waiting impatiently.

Lucian gave her one last look, a soft glimmer in his eyes, before he walked away.

Olivia exhaled slowly, feeling oddly empty the moment he left.

She turned back to gathering her things when another unwanted presence made itself known.

He approached her with long strides, his face twisted in annoyance. Olivia immediately tensed, already preparing herself for whatever nonsense he was about to spill.

"What the hell was that?" Klaus demanded, his voice sharp.

Olivia frowned. "What are you talking about?"

He stepped closer, his icy blue eyes burning into hers. "Don’t play dumb. You and Lucian. I saw it."

Olivia straightened, narrowing her eyes. "So what?"

Klaus’ jaw tightened. "I don’t want you near him, I’ve told you this before."

A bitter laugh escaped her throat. "You don’t get to tell me who I can or can’t be friends with, I’ve also told you before."

Klaus’ hand twitched at his side, but he didn’t reach for her. "You belong to me. We have an agreement."

Olivia crossed her arms over her chest. "An agreement to fake a relationship so you could get what you wanted. That doesn’t mean you own me."

"You’re mine," he growled, low enough that only she could hear.

Olivia’s heart pounded with anger. "No, Klaus. I don’t belong to anyone."

They glared at each other, the tension sharp enough to cut through the air.

Finally, Klaus turned away with a frustrated scoff. "You’ll regret choosing him over me."

Olivia didn’t answer. She simply shouldered her bag and walked past him without a second glance.

If Klaus thought he could control her, he was dead wrong.

...

When Olivia returned to her dorm, the sun was already setting, casting long shadows across the room.

She dropped her bag with a heavy sigh, her muscles still sore from training. All she wanted was to crawl into bed and shut her eyes.

But something caught her attention. There was a small folded note lying neatly on her pillow.

Her brows furrowed as cautiously she walked over and picked it up.

Was it Lydia again? Who could have entered her room?

The paper was rough against her fingers, and the handwriting was unfamiliar.

"Come to the northern part of the school after lights out. Come alone." There was no name. No hint of who had sent it.

Olivia’s fingers tightened around the note. Her instincts screamed that it could be a trap. After everything she had been through, she wasn’t foolish enough to trust anyone blindly.

But at the same time... she couldn’t ignore it.

Someone wanted to meet her. And whatever it was about, it wasn’t going to be simple.

She sat down on her bed, the weight of the day finally crashing onto her shoulders.

First Freya. Then Klaus. Now this.

The world around her felt like it was tightening, giving her less and less space to breathe.

She would go to that meeting. She would find out who dared to summon her like this.
