Chapter 129: Chapter 128 Those Eyes

The impatient tapping of a foot against the ground echoed through the room. Olivia glanced now and then outside the window.

"Why is the sun not going down?" she muttered, as her bored gaze moved back to the small note on the side of her bed.

She knew whoever had left the note behind wasn’t Lydia. Could it be the guy who sold Alexa’s secret to me? She felt bile rising in her throat.

She hoped he wasn’t the one, but who could the person be?

Her eyes flickered back to the sky; the sun had finally gone down. She grabbed her black hoodie and went out of the room.

The dried autumn leaves crunched underneath her black boots, her small frame walking underneath the vast night.

The northern side of the school? Isn’t that the direction to the underground world? she frowned.

She knew she was being reckless. This could be a trap, but she was willing to fall into it as long as she could find the mastermind behind it.

Her feet faltered before stopping. Not too far away, a man stood under the dark sky. His frame exuded a powerful and strong aura.

Olivia’s brows knitted together in suspicion. This person—he looked so familiar yet unfamiliar. The aura that was coming from him made her knees shake as if she was standing before a mighty being.

The edge of his hood danced to the rhythm of the wind. He casually held his hands behind his back, his silhouette majestic. She couldn’t see his face as the hood was concealing most of his features.

Summoning all her courage, she walked hesitantly towards the man. She only stopped a few feet away from him.

"Why did you ask me to meet you?... who are you?"

The rich velvety chuckle of the man filled the air, sending pure dread down her spine. But this voice—it sounded exactly like...

"So it was you I’ve been waiting for?" The man’s words cut off her trail of thoughts.

He slowly turned around, and for a second, everything stood still. Olivia’s brows furrowed in confusion. Was this supposed to be a prank or what?

"Lucian?" She squinted her eyes to make sure she was seeing clearly. His grey eyes looked nonchalant and cold—a pure contrast to the warmth she knew.

"Wh... what are you doing here?" she stammered.

Lucian’s brow arched, a smirk forming on his lips as if he had just heard the most interesting thing.

"Oh, I remember you... you were the insolent b**ch who slapped me the other day," he said. His voice sounded amused, but his eyes held a deadly glare.

Unconsciously, Olivia took a step back, her furrowed brows deepening. What was wrong with him? She thought they had already gone past this. Well, they didn’t literally, as they never spoke about it.

But why was he bringing this up again? "Lucian, is this supposed to be a prank or what?"

"Prank?" Lucian asked, slightly tilting his head to his side. His gaze was menacing, as if he were looking down at an ant.

"I never play around. And mind you, don’t call me Lucian... call me Lord," he commanded, taking a few steps towards her.

’Lord? Are you kidding me right now? Is he bipolar or what?’

’Okay, we are not doing this today,’ she thought, turning around intending to walk away. Not only because he was different but because of the cold and deathly aura he was giving off.

Lucian’s nose flared when he saw her walking away, ignoring him. Didn’t she hear what he just said? Such audacity!

Olivia’s heart skipped a beat when she saw him suddenly standing in front of her.

"Lucian, get out of my way... this is not funny anymore," she said, her hands balling into fists. Although her charade was really intimidating, her voice, which wavered like a dry leaf, made all her effort go to waste.

"I told you, it’s Lord for you," his voice sent chills running down her spine, making every hair on her body stand on end.

Before she could process what was happening, his frame was hovering over her, his warmth radiating into her, even though their skin was not touching.

But the closeness created static energy, sending tingles of sensation through her veins.

Her eyes lingered on his chest, his skin showing just underneath his clothes. She waited for him to say something, but when she didn’t hear a word, she raised her head to look at him.

Her heart, those emotions she had sworn she had locked away—came bursting out of their cages, crashing through her like a tsunami.

Her breath hitched as her eyes met his. Those dark grey eyes, burning with an intensity she couldn’t resist, bored into her without blinking.

They both held each other’s gaze for a moment too long—too long that she couldn’t exactly say how many minutes had passed.

Those eyes held depth she couldn’t fathom, like an abyss with no end. Its intensity was like it was trying to swallow her into its hell.

These eyes... this wasn’t Lucian... who could this be?

"Breathe."

It was only then that Olivia realized she had been holding her breath. She quickly gasped for air, breaking contact with him.

She took a few hurried steps away from him.

"Who are you?... and why are you in Lucian’s body?"

"Tsk tsk tsk." He shook his head, pressing his lips into a thin line. "That was a wrong question," he began, walking toward her. "It’s Lucian who was borrowing my body."

Olivia froze. What is he talking about? How can Lucian be fake? Maybe he’s a doppelgänger trying to pit me against Lucian... or maybe a shapeshifter monster... yes, that must be it.

Her gaze turned into one of fury.

"Where is Lucian? What have you done to him?... did Gauss send you to do this?"

Her hands clenched so hard that her knuckles turned white.

But the man before her, with features like Lucian—whom she believed she knew very well—only stared boredly at her, as if she was yapping nonsense.
