Chapter 114: Chapter 113 The Awakening of The Lord

Time seemed to have stopped. Diana’s rapid breathing was the only sound in the suffocating silence.

She had closed her eyes when she saw he was going to punch her, but no matter how long she waited for the blow, it never came.

She thought maybe it was because she was nervous, and seconds now seemed to be like minutes.

She was scared to open her eyes, but the more she waited, the more suffocating and scary it became.

She slowly pried her eyes open, her breath hitched. His blow was just hovering a few inches away from her face.

Lucian’s head turned slowly to see who dared hold him back. When his gaze landed on the person, a relief crossed his face, but it didn’t soften.

"Dimitri," he called out sternly, as if he were reprimanding a subordinate.

"Lucian, let go of her," Dimitri struggled to hold him back.

’Lucian? Who is that?’ Lucian thought to himself.

"When did you start telling me what to do?" His voice was so calm, but the aura spilling from him made the temperature drop.

Dimitri looked at him with confusion. Lucian had never talked to him in that manner. He also didn’t have this attitude and aura. The only person who could do this...

Dimitri quickly let go of his hand, a look of fear flickered across his face. He quickly bowed his head as he continued to contemplate if this was really what he was thinking.

Lucian’s nose flared. ’How dare he disrespect me?’ His hand left Diana’s neck, who immediately slumped to the ground, before gripping Dimitri’s own.

"How insolent," he drawled with a distasteful click of his tongue.

He lifted Dimitri up with his hand, his angry gaze staring into his fearful ones.

Diana coughed blood as her hand shakily rubbed against her throat. She gazed at the person who had saved her, and how his legs were dangling mid-air.

Her eyes darted to the door. She could escape, or she could help him. But that didn’t mean either of them would survive. ’I have failed my ancestors,’ she thought inwardly.

She tried to stand up, but her body betrayed her. She decided to crawl to the door. If she managed to escape, she would get him help.

When she got to the door, she glanced one last time at the man again, etching his features into her memory: black raven shoulder-length hair, amber eyes, sharp nose, and well-chiselled jaws.

"Please live," she mouthed silently, not sure whom the prayer belonged to.

The moment her hand reached for the doorknob, Lucian snapped his head towards her. A smirk formed on his lips. He would let her escape for now. It would be more fun to hunt her. He would let her think she was free, only to be caught by him again. Oh, how he loved to see fear in his prey’s eyes.

Lucian turned his attention to Dimitri. He was the most important specimen here. He tilted his head slightly to the side, watching Dimitri with disappointment. Dimitri tried to say a word, but for some strange reason, he could not say anything. Was it because he was surprised, or choking? But he could only stare at his face in astonishment. He was finally back.

"So dumb," he uttered with distaste, before he threw him into the wall.

Dimitri coughed as the wall shook behind him. He quickly crawled on his knees, bowing with his head face down. "My lord... welcome back," he greeted, blood dripping from the corner of his lips.

Lucian walked slowly around him. He looked at him as if he wanted to skin him alive. "Who is Lucian?"

Dimitri raised his head slightly, his eyes sparkling with fear and admiration. He had finally awakened. Now all they had to do was get the marked one, and his lord could ascend again and take his rightful place.

Dimitri flinched. The air itself seemed to grow colder. "Are you deaf?" Lucian’s voice sliced through him like a blade.

"Forgive me, my lord... you are Lucian." He swallowed.

Lucian arched his brow. "How?"

"When you gained your human form, I was surprised that you had no memory of your past when I came to congratulate you," Dimitri replied.

Lucian casually walked back to the bed. He sat with his legs crossed, his cold, fiery eyes locked on Dimitri, who was still kneeling with his gaze down.

"Look at me," he ordered.

Dimitri raised his head, his gaze meeting that of his lord.

"Tell me more about this Lucian—I mean... me," he drawled with an interested look.

Dimitri pressed his lips into a thin line. It seemed like their memories were being separated. His lord could not remember the things that Lucian had experienced, and Lucian could not remember anything about his old self.

If he told everything about Lucian to his lord, especially about Olivia, he would immediately go and hunt her down. Cold sweat began to form at the back of his neck. The cold stare he was getting made everything more difficult.

"Lucian is a version of you... who is very kind, loyal, powerful, cold, and selfless," he answered in the most awkward way, that even an imaginary crow flew away across their heads.

Lucian blinked his eyes, before using his finger to clean his ear, to be sure he heard well. "And?" he finally lost his temper and snapped at him.

"And he came to the Survivor Academy to find evidence about the higher-ups in the school colluding with some of the transformed monsters. There have been a high number of monsters dying, and their cores and liquid missing," he said in a rush, ending up gasping for air.

"Monsters? Academy? What are those?" Lucian asked with a frown.

"When you were banished to this dimension, you accidentally opened another dimension which led to monsters invading this realm. Now your success lies with monsters. The more they die, the fewer chances you have to get back to our realm," Dimitri’s voice turned grim.

Lucian’s lip curled. "Then I suppose... I’ll have to make them stop dying."
