Chapter 100: Chapter 99 Five Minutes That Hurts the Most

Olivia found herself in a dilemma. Should she accept his request or decline it? How could she be dating two strong rivals—isn’t that like digging a pit for the three of them to fall in? Although she had not really thought about a love relationship, she didn’t want to do this.

She wanted to say yes, but she did not yet know what exactly she was feeling for him. If this was to be something real, wouldn’t that be like sulling whatever they had?

A sad smile formed on her lips. She slowly turned towards him, meeting his gaze. "That is one hell of a crazy request..." she chuckled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. For a moment, her heart screamed say yes, but her fear won. "But I’m afraid I have to decline."

Lucian’s heart squeezed in his chest. What was he thinking? She doesn’t see him as a potential boyfriend. She doesn’t have any feelings for him. It was just him that was feeling the spark—it was all in his head, he thought bitterly.

He stood up on his feet. The heat that was coursing through his veins had turned cold now.

"I understand," he said, but it came out too flat. His warmth vanished, replaced by the kind of silence that filled empty rooms.

Olivia’s heart went numb when she saw how he had turned cold.

"I’m sorry for inviting you without a proper reason. If you don’t mind, you can leave now," he walked to the door, his body towering over hers.

Olivia tilted her head to meet his gaze. "Now you are chasing me away... By the way, I was already leaving," she said, her voice cracking with anger.

Lucian waited at the door in silence. She should go—what was the point of having her here, when she really loves Klaus? He was a fool to think there was something more between them. But still again, would he have stood a chance if she had remembered him as Little White?

"I’m leaving," Olivia said, her voice turned to that of disappointment. She turned and walked away, never looking back. Meanwhile, Lucian stood at the door, his gaze lingered on her figure as she disappeared from sight—and he didn’t move an inch, hoping... she would come back.

Olivia walked down the corridor in a fit of anger. What was she expecting? He wasn’t even willing to ask the reason she had declined him. It’s not like she didn’t want to. She was going to tell him that she would date him after she had escaped from Klaus’ clutches.

But there he was, throwing a fit. She stopped midway and turned around, her heart racing, her eyes looking with hope that maybe he would run after her and stop her from leaving—and apologize.

She waited for a couple of minutes, her heart pounding harder at every passing second. But no matter how long she waited, only the wind answered. Not footsteps, not apologies, but only silence.

A drop of tears slipped down her cheeks before she could stop it. She wiped it away quickly, like it was a secret no one should see. She turned and hastened her footsteps toward her dorm.

Why was she hoping for him to run after her? Why did her heart always skip a beat for him? Why did she shed a tear because of him?

She hated this weakness, this version of herself she didn’t recognise. She shouldn’t have cried because of a man. She hadn’t done that before—why start now?

By the time she got to her dorm, she was surprised. The room was empty and silent. It was exactly how she was feeling right now. She hated feeling this way. But she couldn’t stop it or control it.

The system appeared in front of her.

Olivia stared at the screen before looking away. Right now, she didn’t know if she wanted to continue this mission. She didn’t want to do anything related to him.

The bed dipped beneath her, her hand unconsciously searching around the bed. Her brows knitted together. She knew deep down that there was something that was supposed to be there—but why couldn’t she remember what?

......

The cold wind of the autumn brought chills, kissing her skin. Her hair danced to the tune of the wind. Olivia stood outside the camp, her eyes darting about, searching for one particular figure—Diana.

She didn’t know if this search would give her the answer she desired, but what was that exactly? Part of her wanted to find out, while the other didn’t want to.

She stood frozen at a crossroads, one path longing to believe in Lucian, the other afraid of the truth Diana might tell. If Lucian is really dangerous, does that mean they don’t have a chance anymore??

"F**k," she cussed underneath her breath at that. She has nothing to do with him—why should she think so?

"Olivia," a gruff voice drew her attention. Olivia immediately turned to the direction the voice came from. She didn’t need to turn to know the owner of the voice.

"Luke," she called out, a genuine smile tugging her lips.

"You came back?" he asked, with sparkling eyes.

"Yes. Remember, I didn’t get to see Diana yesterday."

"Come with me. I will take you to her," he said, leading the way.

Olivia smiled before following after him. Her eyes lingered on his huge frame. Seeing him getting better made her happy. Maybe she wasn’t that much of a bad luck.

Luke fidgeted with his hand. His brown eyes flickered with nervousness.

"Olivia," he began. "I... I have a gift for you," he stuttered.

Olivia was taken aback. "A gift?" she asked, her eyes met his before he averted his gaze.

"Yes, come with me," he said with enthusiasm, pulling her hand.

They both ran through the camp. The other students glanced at them before returning back to their activities.

They stopped in front of a house. "Wait for me," Luke said before dashing inside.
