Chapter 230: Elena vs Troy

"Where did this smoke come from? It’s blocking my sight!" a henchman complained.

It was difficult to shoot without knowing the exact position of the two Paradise Shop staff.

After all, bullets didn’t have eyes—firing blindly might hit their own teammates.

"Cough... Ughhh... Open the tent! I can’t breathe!" another shouted, struggling to navigate through the smoke as he searched for the entrance.

Elena chuckled softly as she watched them panic, stumbling and gasping—completely thrown off by the thick smoke.

She then extinguished the fire on the portable heater, causing the temperature inside the tent to drop sharply to freezing cold.

At the same time, she sealed their way out, ensuring no one could escape.

"I’m right here!" she teased, capturing their attention.

Just as they turned toward her, she activated her [Blink] skill and vanished from the spot.

Gunfire then rang out.

Bang! Bang!

But Elena was already gone. So, the bullet instead struck one of their own.

"Ahhh!" a henchman screamed, wailing in pain after being shot.

"Fu*ck! Who shot me?" he yelled, but no one answered—everyone was too busy trying to escape the suffocating tent.

The henchmen closest to Troy quickly warned him, fearing they might die before they could even catch the two Paradise staff.

"We need to clear the smoke, boss! We can’t locate them like this!"

"You think I don’t know that?" Troy snapped.

"This tent is military-grade and hard to cut through. Just fire some shots to make holes and let the smoke out—but don’t make them too big, or we’ll freeze to death. We have to kill them in here; I don’t care what it takes! And seal the entrance so they won’t be able to escape!"

There were many of them, and only two enemies. Troy believed that with sheer numbers, they could win.

The real problem, however, was that his men were shooting at each other by mistake, putting them at a clear disadvantage.

"Where is she? Cough..." Dr. Cee groaned, squinting through the thick smoke that filled the tent.

Suddenly, a heavy, uneasy feeling settled in his gut, warning him to run.

What is this feeling?’

"If things get worse, just kill them. Better than letting them escape," he muttered, agreeing with Troy’s ruthless plan.

Hearing this, Elena scoffed. Their plan was ridiculous—far too overconfident for what they were truly facing.

"Hahaha! These men you’re so proud of look pathetic. Time’s up. No more games!" Elena shouted.

She and Ethan then moved in sync—her target was the leader, while Ethan focused on keeping the henchmen distracted.

Thanks to their masks, they could see clearly through the smoke.

Ethan fired with precision—one shot, one kill—dodging every baton swung at him with ease.

In contrast, the henchmen could only fire when they were sure of their target.

However, with Ethan moving so quickly, it was nearly impossible for them to hit him.

"Damn it!" one of them growled, glaring as Ethan prepared to shoot again.

Bang!

It was a headshot, and another one went down.

But the henchmen were getting smarter—they managed to catch him off guard and landed a kick, knocking him to the ground.

Boom!

"He’s here! Don’t let him recover!" someone shouted.

A barrage of bullets then followed.

Bang! Bang!

"Tsk. Finally, we got him."

The henchmen cheered and rushed in to check if he was really dead.

"He’s not here! How did he—?"

But before he could finish, Ethan appeared on the other side—and opened fire again, cutting them down without mercy.

Well, once Ethan found himself surrounded, he would slip into the space, and Elena would then use [Blink] to teleport to another side—allowing Ethan to reappear at her location.

This tactic made it seem like he was teleporting all over the place, confusing their enemies completely.

"He’s here—Argh!" a henchman shouted, but he dropped dead before he could finish his words.

A bullet had pierced straight through his head.

While everyone’s attention was on her husband, Elena focused sharply on Troy and Dr. Cee, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

They wanted her captured—dead or alive. But she had no intention of letting them live another day either.

So, she waited patiently, knowing that heaven might intervene if she acted too soon.

Then, with a flash, she used [Blink] to teleport to their side, silently picking off the minions one by one, especially those who might be valuable enough to be used as shields for heaven.

Another body hit the ground, leaving the rest of the henchmen and scientists visibly shaken.

"Boss, something’s not right. These two aren’t normal staff... and we can barely even see them clearly."

But instead of fear, Dr. Cee’s face lit up with excitement, tinged with madness.

The strange ability they displayed only made him more desperate to get his hands on them.

"I don’t care how you do it! Just capture them—no matter the cost!" he barked.

Then he turned to Troy and shouted, "Do something, Troy! I want them now!"

"They’re too slippery, sir," Troy growled.

"I suggest we leave the tent and fight them in open space. This smoke is getting in our way."

"Fine—do what you must. But I want results," Dr. Cee relented, giving Troy full control.

Troy clenched his fists in frustration. Too many of his men had already died.

But if capturing those two would earn Dr. Cee’s full trust, he was willing to go further.

Once they were in his hands, he’d make them pay for his losses.

"Cut a large hole in the tent—let the smoke out!"

Soon after, they cut a wide circle into the tent, letting the extreme cold rush in while slowly clearing the smoke.

They were about to cut another hole when Elena finally noticed what they were doing.

Not willing to let their plan succeed, she quickly activated her [Spatial Slash] skill, unleashing a wave of spatial energy that tore through everything in its path.

Heads flew and blood splattered everywhere.

A wave of terror then rippled through the remaining henchmen.

It was brutal—far beyond anything they had imagined.

Many instantly regretted joining this operation.

"Ahhhhhhh! The heads... too many heads!" one of them screamed, his voice cracking with horror.

Everyone froze, staring at the gruesome scene.

"What are they?!"

"Monsters!!! Let me go! I don’t want to be here anymore!"

Troy snapped out of his daze and roared, "Anyone who tries to escape—dies!"

The henchman who was about to flee stopped.

Yes, they were terrified, but leaving would mean giving up the comfort and luxury they’d enjoyed under Troy’s command—and returning to a miserable life.

To some of them, dying here seemed better.

One by one, they returned to their positions, glaring at Ethan with rage and fear.

Troy let out a shaky breath, then looked toward Elena with a serious gaze.

He had a hunch—they had abilities similar to his grandfather’s.

But the real question was: what exactly were those abilities?

"Don’t panic. Maybe that was just a one-time skill. Now that the smoke is gone, capture or kill them!"

Elena chuckled darkly. He was right.

Her core energy was nearly drained, and using another [Spatial Slash] would be difficult; however, she still had enough energy left to use her [Blink] skill.

"Oh, really? Wrong. You should be afraid of us—in fact, you should be running for your lives right now," she snorted, casually pulling out a grenade and tossing it toward them.

With a giant hole in the tent and the smoke clearing rapidly, using another canister of tear gas would no longer be effective

So, a grenade is the best way to eliminate the henchmen quickly.

She laughed softly—and then vanished from her spot.

Inside the space, Ethan quickly checked his wife from head to toe, ensuring she was unharmed.

Elena also looked at him over and frowned at his condition. He had bruises and small wounds scattered across his body.

Even though he was outnumbered, he held his ground with his pure combat skills, combined with clever use of the space.

"Husband, you’re hurt. Let me apply some ointment."

"It’s just superficial," Ethan replied calmly.

"I’ve already drunk some well water. Let’s focus on what’s happening outside; the grenade should have exploded by now."

"Alright," Elena nodded. "But still, apply the ointment later."

Ethan nodded, smiling at her lovingly.

Soon after, they reappeared inside the ruined tent.

The grenade had caused massive damage—most of Troy’s men lay dead, while the injured cried out in pain.

Elena ignored them, her eyes scanning the area for Dr. Cee and Troy.

When she saw them unharmed, she wasn’t surprised.

Heaven always found ways to protect its favorites. How they had been saved was a mystery, but she didn’t care.

Today, she planned to end them—no matter what—before backup arrived.

The government officers had probably heard the explosion by now, but the swarm of mutated pests outside was likely keeping them from coming to help.

With bloodlust in her eyes, she swiftly moved to finish off the remaining minions.

Beside her, Ethan raised his gun and fired, assisting his wife in wiping out the survivors.

Bang! Bang!

Another minion dropped.

Seeing the two staff members standing unharmed—without even a speck of dust—Dr. Cee was stunned.

Then, to his horror, he saw one of them appear right in front of him—hand reaching out to touch him.

His eyes widened in panic.

"Leader, duck!" a scientist screamed, snapping him out of his trance.

Elena then sneered as she had already gotten near and was about to touch him.

"I win—"

But just then, she felt something. A strong danger is quickly approaching.

She paused, weighing her next move, contemplating whether she should press forward or retreat.
