Chapter 28: Eartlings are poor.

She entered the system space and looked around. It had organized itself. Everything she sent inside had been arranged on the shelves in proper order. Vegetables alone, cooking oil alone, fuel alone, guns and weapons alone. It was like a supermarket.

Sunshine almost went to take a walk around, but the system’s voice stopped her.

[Host you need a microspark stitcher. Each stitcher costs about 2 coins.]

"Use."

The suit appeared before her. She had no idea what kind of suit to expect and her eyes widened when she saw what the system delivered to her.

It looked like an ordinary bodysuit made from cotton. The system provided information on the bodysuit after sensing her questions.

[This is the ET-MO, 12 Atmosuit. It is a standard must have for climate divers, storm riders and meteor hunters.]

"It’s so soft." she whispered, pinching the bodysuit to feel the texture.

[It was designed to feel like nothing but cost everything.]

That sounded an awful lot costly.

"How expensive is it in my planet’s gold?" She asked curiously.

[In earth gold, 120,000 gold tons.]

"That is like eleven trillion!!!" She exclaimed. In addition to exclaiming, she whistled. No wonder the system said it cost everything. Could anyone on earth afford to buy one of these suits without going broke? Even Hades could not afford it.

Her hopes of acquiring a few of these bodysuits died. She could not even afford one! Hell, not even half of it.

Rather than have idle dreams, it was better to fix the bodysuit and make some money and earn some points.

Using the universal repairman guidebook provided by the system and materials, she got to work. The first step was opening the nanothread lining by hand with a small needle which was the microspark stitcher! Sunshine could tell that it would take her one hour alone to do that.

She turned on some music and really got to work. The bodysuit was amazing; it had all these connecting fibers like a nervous system. The sensors pulsed with lights, shimmering like bruised stars.

More than a few times, she pricked herself, but she did not stop. When little drops of her blood spilled on the suit, it just vanished. When she opened up the neck seam, she noticed a name doodled on the inside--E. karl.

"I guess that is the name of your owner." She muttered. "Karl is a fine name for a storm chaser, or a meteor hunter. I would prefer to think of him as a storm chaser. I bet storms are cool on another world. How many have you seen?"

Talking to herself while she worked was something she did sometimes when she was fixing things. And sometimes they talked back by creaking or groaning. The suit was vibrating and purring. To Sunshine, it counted as talking.

"Mm, you have a tiny rip on the knee. Would you tell me how you got that?"

[Humidity sensor fixed.] The system announced.

She continued to work, and the system continued to announce each sensor that she fixed. Four hours later, with an aching back and bruised fingers that had tiny needle holes, she finished.

The suit let out a tiny puff of fog from its collar.

"Simulated vapor discharge nominal." It purred.

Sunshine clapped for herself. She had no idea what it meant but it was talking and that was a good sign.

The suit vanished and the panel appeared.

[Task successfully completed

Repair integrity: 98.9%

Coins received: 60 gold coins, 30 paid to the broker.

Reward: 5 Merit coins, upgraded tool kit.

The merit coins can be used to purchase anything from another planet.]

She scratched her chin. The rewards were new, and the merit coins were a nice surprise.

"System, can I purchase a bodysuit like the one I just fixed?"

[Not enough merit coins or currency. But you can purchase a damaged discarded weather detection under suit and fix it.]

"How much for one or ten?

[1 for 1 merit coin. Bulk purchase can be 3 merit coins for seven.]

"Purchase." She ordered.

A box appeared next to Sunshine, she quickly opened it. With the system and experience, she did not need to buy new things, she could buy old things and fix them.

Then she got an idea, she could do the same for the guns and other weapons.

"System can I use the merit coins to buy a gun from another planet for one merit coin? I would also want a manual that shows how I can modify the guns that I have here." Sunshine politely asked, crossing her fingers and hoping that her request could be granted.

The system plunged into an intense data sweep, trying to find where Sunshine could a gun or weapon of that kind.

[Such a weapon can be got from planet Obrixa, the weapon is called Nullfire F10, it is toy for children of thirteen to sixteen. It is an experimental weapon that shoots blasts of cosmic energy.

On Obrixa, it was outlawed after being determined as dangerous when it was discovered that scientists mistakenly used the wrong core disruptors when creating it. It is not outlawed in earth, and it was discarded for destruction.]

Blasts of cosmic energy sounded like something powerful.

"I need to modify as many guns as I can to become like this Nullfire F10, can that happen?" Sunshine asked.

[It could be possible in a way; you can create bullets from a metal powder on Obrixa called Phasium alloy. Do you want to use your merit coins to purchase the metal powder and the gun?]

"Yes system." Sunshine responded.

[This will take a while, I need to find the right seller, I will inform you as soon as I finish the task.]

The system went silent, and she went to work, fixing the damaged body suits. The good thing about them was that she had no need to tailor them to fit each individual physique. They could adjust to fit whoever was identified as the owner.

Her speed was much faster now, and she upgraded the hand needle. From an ordinary needle, it became a smart needle capable of knitting on its own. She bought three more needles and upgraded them.

She worked on five body suits at the same time, which was a challenge. Four hours later, she was finished, and she tried on one bodysuit. It fit her body snugly, much like a second skin.

The sensors were humming, dancing along her skin like little spiders on the move. But it was not irritating or ticklish, rather comfortable.

"So cool." Sunshine flexed her muscles.

She touched her head and suddenly a hood grew out of the collar, covering her hair and most of her face. Only her eyes were left out.

"Woah!" she exclaimed. With this, would she be afraid to go out in the acid rain? The biggest reason why she wanted the suits was because they also doubled as protective suits.

She would have to test it out when the time came and if it worked perfectly, she could fix some more and sell them in the apocalypse. Maybe they could work against the poisonous most as well.

She left the space, bringing along with her the incomplete robot dog. With the Raine’s gone, the entire house could now be her temporary workshop.

As she turned on the drill and went to work, a notification popped up on her phone. It was a message from Hades asking where she was.

Sunshine responded with her location. A few minutes after he had hung up abruptly, Hades appeared in the Raine residence.

He found her listening to music, bobbing her head up and down as she drilled into what looked like a metallic animal leg.

"You seem to be in high spirits." Hades said, taken back as he expected her to be sad over her family leaving her behind. One of reasons as to why he had come over was to offer her a shoulder to cry on.

He had even brought wine. But he had no idea what to do with it now. Did she need comforting or not?
