Chapter 94: No Way Out
Chapter 94: Chapter 94: No Way Out
They had gone quite a distance inside the villa without encountering any bugs or spiders.
Soon, the end of the corridor was near, and they would arrive in the main hall that led to the main gate. But the moment they turned a corner, they all froze.
The sealed gate, the one they had blocked with all the furniture, was shaking.
No, not shaking. It was falling apart slowly.
The sound of wood being scraped and crushed. The heavy furniture they had stacked was collapsing piece by piece. And through the gaps, more spiders squeezed through.
Liora’s face hardened as she looked at the spiders forcing their way inside.
So this was where they came from. These spiders weren’t from inside. They were coming from outside the villa. As she guessed, the ones inside were still mutating and weak. But those that were outside and had been in direct contact with the rain had already evolved and become much stronger.
The continuous knocking and clanging sounds of furniture dropping to the ground could be heard. With every second, the gap widened, and the sunlight of the day filled the dimly lit hall.
Spindly legs filled with short hair and fine bristles tore through the cracked wood. Sharp fangs scraped against the walls. And finally—
BANG!
The whole barricade crashed to the ground. Even the already loosened door, which was barely hanging on by a few nails, fell with a loud thud and revealed a massive swarm of spiders outside.
A full cluster of spiders. Dozens of them were waiting outside. Their bodies blocked the already fallen furniture and gate. They were crawling over each other, eager to spill into the open and eat their fill of fresh meat.
The crashing sound of the barricade falling still echoed when the horde surged forward.
"They are all Level 1 Jumping Spiders..." Chen Wei muttered, eyes narrowing. "And too many of them."
But before anyone could respond, Liora’s eyes sharpened as her expression changed.
"Wait. Look at the ones in the back—"
And then they saw them.
Mixed in with the crowd of crawling spiders were a few mutated spiders that looked far more dangerous. Towering above the rest, they were probably Level 2 Jumping Spiders. They all entered the hall with a terrifying presence.
They were nearly six feet tall. Their bodies were much bigger and bulkier than the Level 1s. Their legs were thicker and covered in a steel-like shell that clanked loudly with every step.
Even their upper bodies looked solid like armor, and on the back of their heads, a hard plate gleamed under the sunlight—like a helmet built into their skin.
They looked stronger, meaner, and smarter. And their eyes... those dark, gleaming eyes were filled with pure malice.
As soon as they saw the group, they let out a high-pitched, bone-chilling chiiiikkk! The sound felt like nails scraping across glass. Liora could tell what it meant. They weren’t just coming to fight. They were coming to feed on their flesh.
"Whoever kills gets the meat," she whispered to herself grimly. That’s what their screech sounded like. They were competing with each other.
The swarm rushed in.
Without waiting another second, the group leapt forward.
"Formation! Take them down before they surround us!" Shen Haoran barked, already charging into the crowd.
Liora pulled the child close to her chest, tightening the carry bag so he wouldn’t move at all. His tiny breath puffed against her collarbone. She kissed his head once quickly, then summoned the mana sword from her inventory.
The blade gleamed with a faint blue glow. She knew her normal sword was not that much stronger, and it had already shown some signs of cracks, so she could not risk using that. And this mana sword looked heavier and sharper.
"Let’s see who would get out of this place alive," she whispered coldly.
With that, she dove into the wave.
Liang Zihan smashed the ground again, raising new pillars of rock that flung multiple spiders into the air. Liora dashed under them, slicing their bellies open before they even hit the ground. Black blood sprayed over her, but she kept moving. Her eyes glinted with sharp focus. The mana sword was sharp and deadly. It drew blood just by grazing the skin of mutated spiders.
Soon, Liora was bombarded with notifications.

Chen Wei was already a blur between countless mutated spiders. His speed was terrifying. He zipped through the crowd, daggers cutting deep into spider joints and slicing through weak spots. He avoided the armored parts of the Level 2s and instead aimed for their eyes and necks.
Zhou Yinuo summoned a cyclone of slicing wind that tore through several Level 1s at once. Their broken bodies flew across the room like torn paper, crashing into the walls.
Yan Lin controlled vines and water together, creating traps. Her vines snared legs and pulled spiders down as water froze around them. Yun Shou followed, electricity dancing in his hands, punching through twitching bodies and frying their insides.
Zhao Ren took on one of the Level 2 spiders directly. His skin turned steel again, and he blocked the beast’s strike with his forearm. The loud clang echoed. He grunted, pushed forward, and swung his metal blade into the creature’s underbelly. But it didn’t pierce.
"Damn, it’s too tough!" he growled.
"It’s not invincible!" Mei called out, dancing around another Level 2 and striking at the joints where the armor didn’t reach. "Go for the soft points!"
Ji Ming jumped on top of a spider’s back, stabbing downward with his weapon. The spider screeched and thrashed, slamming him into the wall. He groaned but didn’t let go.
Shen Haoran was just as strong as the others. He raised his hand and quickly summoned fireballs, one after another, hurling them toward the mutated spiders. The Level 1 spiders didn’t stand a chance. His flames swallowed them up, and they died screaming in the fire, their bodies twisting in pain.
But the Level 2 spiders were different. They didn’t panic. Instead, they calmly rubbed their burning bodies against the wall or the ground, putting out the flames with ease. It was shocking how smart they were.
So he didn’t give them a chance to put out the flames. Without stopping, Shen Haoran sent even stronger fireballs at them, one after another. He moved fast, not letting them catch their breath or find a way to escape.
The heat grew hotter, and the fire roared louder as he kept attacking, determined to burn every last one of them.
