Apocalypse: Transmigrated with an Overlord System -
Chapter 31: Get her for me
Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Get her for me
They ate in silence. The warmth of the meal gave them a little comfort. The world outside was falling apart. But for now, inside the dim warehouse, it almost felt normal.
But peace never lasted long in the apocalypse.
A loud bang came from the front of the warehouse. A series of sharp footsteps followed.
Liora and Zhou Yinuo froze. Their hearts beat fast and hard.
Then they heard low whistles. Mocking laughter followed.
"Well well. What do we have here?" A rough voice spoke in a raspy tone.
Zhou Yinuo stiffened. She held her cup of noodles tightly. She looked at Liora with a wary gaze.
"Two little rabbits hiding all cozy," another voice sneered. "And look at all these supplies. You girls did not think about sharing with your big brothers, huh?"
Liora held her chopsticks tightly. But in a few seconds, her face became calm. She kept eating her noodles.
"Should we pretend we are not here?" Zhou Yinuo whispered. Her voice was tense.
Liora answered in a calm tone. "Too late for that."
Another bang hit the door hard.
"Come on, ladies. Do not make us break the door down," the first voice taunted. "We just want to talk. Right, boys?"
Laughter followed again.
Zhou Yinuo swallowed hard. "What do we do?"
"The noodles will go cold. You should eat them quickly," Liora said. Her tone was lazy. It was like she did not care about those men at all.
"Oh... okay!" Zhou Yinuo nodded. She took a bite of her fragrant noodles. But they tasted like nothing now. Her body was too tense with fear. She did not know what Liora was thinking. She did not know how they would save themselves. But she believed in Liora. If she could eat so calmly, then she must have a plan.
The warehouse door creaked open with a loud groan. The metal scraped against the floor. The fallen racks were pushed aside. Five men stepped inside. Their boots echoed in the empty warehouse.
The smell of sweat and cheap alcohol clung to them. It was strong and disgusting. Liora wrinkled her nose. She was too sensitive to smells.
The leader was a burly man. A jagged scar ran down his cheek. He grinned as he looked at the two girls. His small eyes darkened with delight. They were alone.
"Well..." he drawled. He licked his lips. "Looks like heaven finally blessed us, boys."
The others snickered. Their eyes wandered over Liora and Zhou Yinuo. Their gazes were unrestrained and hungry.
"Two pretty girls sitting in a house full of supplies," another sneered. "Now, is that not just too good to be true?"
One of them let out a low whistle. "God must be real after all."
Liora barely looked at them. She sat cross-legged on a crate. She stirred her noodles slowly. She acted like the intruders were nothing more than an annoying fly. She twirled the noodles around her chopsticks. She lifted them to her lips. She took a slow bite.
Zhou Yinuo, on the other hand, stiffened. She glanced at Liora. She did not know if she should move or speak.
The leader took a step forward. He spread his arms wide. "No need to be scared, sweethearts. We are not here to hurt you," he cooed. "We are just saying. It is not right for two little ladies to keep all this food to themselves."
Another man chuckled. His eyes gleamed. "We could keep you safe, you know? Keep you warm at night. Give you some company. Bet you have been lonely, huh?"
Liora took another bite. She still refused to look at them.
"Oi," the leader’s grin slowly faded. He scowled. "Are you ignoring us, sweetheart?"
His patience was thin.
One of the men, a lanky guy with a missing front tooth, suddenly lunged forward. He reached for Zhou Yinuo’s arm.
"Come on. Do not be shy, doll—"
His fingers barely touched her wrist when—
Crack.
Liora’s chopsticks snapped in half.
The sound was small. But in the silence, it was deafening.
Her patience was gone.
Liora slowly set her noodle cup down. She exhaled through her nose. Her dark eyes flicked toward the man’s hand on Zhou Yinuo’s wrist.
Then she moved.
Before anyone could react, her fingers grabbed the man’s arm like a whip. With one sharp pull, she yanked him forward. He stumbled with a startled yelp.
Then she twisted.
A pop echoed in the warehouse. His shoulder dislocated.
The man howled in pain. He fell to the ground. He could not even endure a dislocated shoulder. Where did he get the guts to rob? He should just go die from shame. He was too useless. Yet he thought he could tease her friend.
The others froze. They did not expect a small, cute girl to be this ruthless.
Zhou Yinuo was speechless at Liora’s strength. When the man came to grab her, she was so scared that she almost threw her cup of noodles at his face. But thank God she didn’t, or her food would have been wasted on such a pig.
Now she was even more determined to always trust Liora. She was truly a goddess with brains, beauty, and strength. It was so cool how she dislocated his shoulder like a badass queen.
Zhou Yinuo took a huge bite of her noodles with a loud slurp that almost made all the heads turn toward her.
She froze but continued slurping her half-hanging noodles. Her expression seemed to say, Don’t bother with me, continue your fight.
Liora had a faint smirk on her face as she looked at the cute Zhou Yinuo, but she had to take care of these hooligans first. Her face instantly changed to an unreadable expression, and the small smile was wiped away.
She looked at them with a dark and cold gaze. She dusted off her hands as if touching him had dirtied them.
Her voice was eerily calm.
"You know, all of you interrupted my meal."
The leader’s face twisted with fury. His man was writhing on the ground, clutching his shoulder. His smug look was gone and replaced by his deep scowl.
"You little bitch," he spat. His fingers curled into fists. He glared at his lackeys and then barked, "What are you waiting for? Get her!"
