Chapter 182: Heaven Is Free

As soon as Cassandra heard this question, she squeezed Atlas’s cheek and said, "The throne on the right is yours. As your wife, I will sit on the throne on your right in the future... So go ahead and sit down, I would very much like to see you sitting there."

Atlas swallowed hard after hearing these words and thought to himself that he had never imagined such a thing. He had not even managed to see a quarter of the city. Still, he had already prepared himself to go and sit on a throne in a palace that was perhaps even more magnificent than the palace in the Imperial Capital.

As if the time had come, Atlas began to move forward. He slowly climbed the steps leading to the throne and, after fifteen steps, focused on the throne to his right. Breathing calmly, Atlas realised how important this was for him.

Immediately afterwards, without thinking twice, he closed his eyes and sat down on the throne. When he opened his eyes again just a minute later, Atlas looked at Cassandra, Juliet and Irene, who were standing a few metres away in front of him.

"Well, tell me then? How do I look?"

When he asked this question, Cassandra smiled and, without waiting, quickly came to the throne next to Atlas and sat down on it.

"Enchanting," Cassandra replied to his question.

There were literally hundreds of High-Vampires in the throne room. Each of them was powerful enough to destroy cities on their own and could not be underestimated.

At that moment, each of them was under Atlas’s command. Their sole purpose in life would be to protect the city of Shorekeeper and, in particular, the Shadowfall Palace.

"From this day forward, I will serve as your master. The things I will do and the paths I will take will be more dangerous than you imagine and may seem foolish in your eyes," Atlas said suddenly.

Both Cassandra, Juliet, and Irene couldn’t help but smile at these words.

"Nevertheless, I want you all to know this. Each of you may be a High-Vampire, but regardless of your lineage, race, rank, age, or gender, each of you has been accepted with all my heart. From today onwards, each of you is my family, and I swear to protect you at the cost of my own life if you follow me, give me your endless loyalty, and never betray me. I expect the same from you," Atlas added to his own words.

Every word he spoke, every letter, every sentence, was completely true and came straight from the depths of his soul.

"I am the one who rejects Heaven and Hell and dares to bear the fate of the world. I do not love humans, but I do not want my hatred to consume the entire world. Therefore, no matter what happens in the future, I will give you only one command: Live and let live." Atlas suddenly spoke, and as hundreds of High-Vampires stood in the vast throne room, he uttered these words and then fell silent:

"My name is Atlas Shorekeeper. I am the one who chose to be Lady Nyx’s shadow in the world. Never forget my name!"

With Atlas’s words, every High-Vampire in the throne room knelt on their knees.

Atlas, seemingly satisfied, said, "You may relax," and just as he was about to continue speaking, a thunderous roar suddenly echoed through the hall, deafening everyone:

"KRRRRRAAK-KOOOOOM!!!"

Not only Atlas, but even Cassandra and Juliet felt the need to cover their ears for a few seconds. It was truly a painful experience.

Before Atlas could understand what was happening, Cassandra grabbed him, and within seconds, the two found themselves in the room made for the Duke and Duchess of Shadowfall Palace.

When Atlas ran directly to the balcony of the room, the thunderclap sound was heard again, but this time it was several times louder:

"THRA-KA-BOOOOM!!!"

It sounded like an explosion. Juliet had left the palace to erect a barrier over the entire city in a matter of seconds, and she had succeeded. No one had seen the massive lightning bolt that had caused the thunderclap, but the incredibly bright flashes of light were now illuminating the darkened sky as if it were daytime.

They couldn’t really understand what was happening. The fact that such sounds could exert such pressure on Cassandra and Juliet’s bodies was absurd. The sounds of lightning striking one after another echoed in the distance.

Still, despite all this, there was no light. There was no sign of anything else except the sounds of lightning striking. It was strange, much stranger than anyone could have imagined.

Atlas immediately turned to Cassandra and looked at the Ancient Woman with curiosity.

Cassandra, however, made it clear that this was something even she did not know and shook her head.

At that very moment, a message window opened in front of Atlas. It was a message from someone he did not expect to see at that moment...

[Everything is under control. I kept my promise to you.]

The person who sent this message to Atlas was none other than Hermes.

Atlas’s mind was completely blank. What he had long desired, what he had wondered about and thought about even before his death, must have come true. If Hermes had sent such a message, there was no way he could be lying; it must have been completed for sure.

Still... Atlas wanted to be sure. He knew Hermes wouldn’t lie, but he wished to be certain that what he had been thinking deep down was true, that everything was accurate.

"What do you mean... What are you saying, sir?" Atlas had suddenly asked.

[I saved Michael. Heaven has been released. Heaven is free.]

Atlas’s eyes had widened. While Cassandra looked at him with eyes trying to understand what had happened, Atlas was only trying to understand what he had read.

His entire body was trembling from head to toe; no one could understand the meaning of those words for him. Each of them might have seen his memories. They might have known everything about him, but none of them could understand the meaning of Michael being saved.
