Chapter 181: Throne Room Of Shorekeeper

Chapter 181: Throne Room Of Shorekeeper

He could see thousands of steps rising from the mountain towards the palace. He could see the torches burning brightly despite the heavy snowfall on the roads. He could see the enormous Shorekeeper crest carved into the massive mountain.

It was truly a masterpiece. Cassandra had created a true work of art.

When Atlas looked around, he saw the beauty of the roads. He saw the statues of himself and his sister Eva standing at the entrance to the city as if to say that they would always watch those entering the city.

He saw dozens of ordinary people of different races walking around the city, laughing and having a good time.

Over two hundred thousand people, consisting of slaves from various backgrounds such as former sex slaves, labourers, and many others, had already begun living in this city, and even if Atlas did not notice, millions more would come to live here in the future.

Each of the 7 Sages and their leader, Duke Shorekeeper himself, who resided in the grand Shadowfall Palace... He would watch over millions of them like the apple of his eye.

"So... This is Shorekeeper City."

After taking a deep breath, Atlas felt a sense of peace wash over him beneath the falling snow. It was a strange feeling, one he hadn’t felt in a long time. War, development, and the resulting stress had worn him out so much that, after a long time, he was finally able to take a deep breath for the first time as he entered the massive city gates that belonged to him.

He began to walk slowly. He seemed to ignore Cassandra, Juliet, and Irene, who were following him. With a gentle smile on his face, he continued to walk, hearing the cheerful voices of street vendors, musicians, and even woodcarvers working in the middle of the street as he passed through each area.

To be honest, Atlas was struggling to resist turning around and giving Cassandra a big hug. The Ancient Woman had truly done an excellent job.

Cassandra had not only done an excellent job, she had created a masterpiece. Even if Atlas did not know it, Cassandra had had to spend nearly four billion gold pieces over the course of two years for this city.

That wasn’t all. On top of that, Cassandra had forced Talon with her own hands and even used him like a slave to alter certain parts of the city with earth magic. That’s why the mountain at the farthest point of the city seemed to have such a solid foundation. Of course, this was necessary for the Shadowfall Palace, which had been planned and already completed.

That was why Talon did not object to Cassandra, whom he could consider his sister, treating him like a slave.

As he wandered through the streets, Atlas paused when he caught a scent, then turned his head towards where it was coming from.

He immediately saw a kebab stand and walked towards it without stopping. The owner of the stand wanted to bow when he saw Atlas, but Atlas told him to stay calm, as he had been doing since entering the city.

With that, Atlas bought a kebab for himself and the three behind him.

"A nostalgic smell... Haha... Chicken kebab skewers were my favourite food even during the war. If I’m not mistaken, it’s one of the dishes from the eastern continent... I’d love to go there and try it," Atlas said suddenly. He had devoured the kebab in his hand in less than thirty seconds and had to hold back tears as nostalgia from the war years overwhelmed him.

Then the walk began again.

After walking through the vast city for minutes and hours, Atlas and the trio behind him finally reached the stairs leading up to the palace.

Atlas could see that Iso was trying to settle the villagers in the city, and for that very reason, he had concluded that there was nothing else to do and had taken his first step towards the stairs leading up to the palace.

At that moment, he was stopped by Cassandra, who said:

"You’re not thinking of climbing thousands of steps, are you, Atlas?"

When Atlas heard these words and the question they posed, he scratched his head and said, "I suppose you have a better plan."

Cassandra immediately shook her head from side to side and, as if by magic, trapped Atlas within her spell. In just a few seconds, Atlas and Cassandra were transported to the entrance of the majestic Shadowfall Palace.

Since Atlas had never climbed this mountain before, he couldn’t fully grasp how large the palace was, but now that he was closer to everything, everything seemed to grow enormously in his eyes.

Perhaps it was the beautiful sight of flower gardens stretching for kilometres, covered in snow, and the iron fences indicating that only a select few could touch them.

Six different roads lead to the palace. On the other side of this road, dozens of other areas directly connected to the palace and Shadowfall in the mountain range are reserved for the Church of Night.

These roads were like lines connecting the entire Shorekeeper City and every place within this area to Shadowfall Palace.

When Irene and Juliet joined the duo, Atlas started walking again and told the vampire guards standing in front of Shadowfall Palace to open the gates.

There were dozens and in some areas even hundreds, of vampire guards in the flower gardens that stretched for kilometres. Of course, Cassandra had wanted to make this place completely safe and had gathered vampires with enormous power here, just in case.

When the group entered the palace, they saw elegant furniture, patterns, and many other things decorated in black, white, and purple colours everywhere.

Atlas already knew what was inside the palace. After all, he was the one who approved the palace’s blueprint and even made some changes to it.

Still, the first place he wanted to see physically was the one Cassandra had insisted on including in the palace’s design, even though Atlas didn’t want it. It was a boldness never before seen in the Empire:

The Throne Room.

Cassandra, of course, was naturally a Sage and, due to her future marriage to Atlas, was the other owner of Shadowfall Palace and the future Duchess. And of course, being a Sage elevated Cassandra to a position of honour.

The Epsilon Empire naturally had to show the utmost respect to the Sages, so they couldn’t say anything about the throne room being located in a palace other than the Sun Palace in the empire’s capital, or about the two thrones in the throne room not belonging to the Emperor and Empress.

Of course, Atlas had wanted this throne room not to exist out of respect... Still, Cassandra could be very stubborn at times.

After slowly making their way through the palace, Atlas and the trio behind him finally reached the throne room. Atlas pushed open the two huge doors in front of him, and the sight of the throne room struck his eyes.

White light streamed in through the enormous windows behind the two thrones. The Shorekeeper Arma itself hung from the ceiling. Every Chaos-Born was represented by a statue throughout the hall. Flags bearing the Shorekeeper Arma hung throughout the hall, clearly indicating who this place belonged to.

Many different but meaningful motifs seemed to be present throughout the hall. It was truly beautiful. The white light filtering through the snowy clouds and the large window panes made everything even more beautiful.

"Come on then, what are you waiting for?" Cassandra asked suddenly.

Atlas turned to Cassandra behind him with curious eyes and asked, "What do you mean?"

As soon as Cassandra heard the question, she pinched Atlas’s cheek and said, "The throne on the right is yours. As your wife, I will sit on the throne on your right in the future... So go and sit down; I would very much like to see you sitting there."

After hearing these words, Atlas swallowed and thought again that he had never imagined such a thing. He had not even managed to see a quarter of the city, but he had already prepared himself to go and sit on a throne in a palace that was perhaps even more magnificent than the palace in the imperial capital.

As if the time had come, Atlas began to move forward. He slowly climbed the steps leading up to the throne and, after fifteen steps, focused on the throne standing to his right. Breathing calmly, Atlas realised how important this was for him.

Immediately afterwards, he closed his eyes without hesitation and sat down on the throne. When he opened his eyes again after just a minute, Atlas looked at Cassandra, Juliet, and Irene, who were standing a few metres away in front of him.

’Well, come one then, what are you waiting for? Tell me, my dear Cassandra, How do I look huh?’
