Chapter 55: Finding Dreadiron.

As Kenji moved through the mine, looking for a potential vein to harvest the dreadiron ore from. He couldn’t help his mind from wandering off.

What if he had never sent her away?

What if he knew this was going to happen?

What if, just what if he had trusted her to make her own decisions?

* What did I even do that?! * Kenji thought, as he angrily smashed the wall right next to him with his bare fist, causing blood to trickle out from his wounds.

But even after feeling the pain, Kenji ignored it. The rage and anger within him. The annoyance of how much he keeps hurting himself. How much he doesn’t learn to live his own life and not follow someone else’s footsteps!

* Gha!*

" Why? Why? Why? Why?!! Fucking hell!" He screamed, smashing his fist continuously on the wall, his anger brimming through his fist, as he smashed and smashed again, relentless, as he felt the more pain.

On the other side of the cave, behind a wall, Haruka’s face leaned in quietly, watching Kenji, as he furiously punched the walls of the mine in rage and rejection.

Her eyes flickered with saddness, as she wanted to run over to him and give him a hug. But she knew that this was necessary, if she went to stop him now, everything she said to him would be as weightless as a plastic bag in the air.

Her eyes kept on flickering with difficulty,* I’m sorry Kenji. I didn’t mean to say all of that, but it’s the only way to get you out of this path of a follower. As this is your time, your time to show them all, that you’re more than just a worm... I’m sorry,*

She then silently turned away, ready to continue on her quest of finding a mine vein for the dreadiron ores.

" Click~ Haruka did well. Although it wasn’t as I had expected, it truly is the only way. Kenji must step out of the shadow of the heroes and step into the light of his own journey," Shreya said, the dark space of Kenji’s mindscape flickering in resonance with her words.

As Kenji continuously punched the mine walls with fury, cracks began to appear in his wake, as he kept ok relentlessly punching the surface of the wall, his hands even beginning to drip blood.

Suddenly, the wall caved in and cracked open, revealing a large vein of metals, most likely dreadiron!

The ore was dark purple in colour, illuminating a bright mystical glow that Immediately lit up the surrounding.

There wasn’t really a particular shape to this ores, as there were tens of them. Each with a different shape and size.

Kenji wiped off the tears on his face, and looked on at the ores in wonder. If they were truly as strong as their lols let them be, then truly his weapon would be incredible!

He thought ght of immediately calling Haruka to come and take a look, but immediately trashed away the plan, as he knew that it wouldn’t be appropriate.

He didn’t want her coming over and seeing him in such a state. He didn’t want her to know that her words were actually that imapctful. And he really didn’t want to apologise again, he felt he has already apologized enough.

* If she doesn’t want to accept my apology, and insteesd feels like calling me a follower, then fine, I don’t need her! Hmph!*

He thought determinedly, as he retrieved a sack and a pickaxe. And with the two "tools " in hand, he got to work.

Haruka on the other hand wasn’t as lucky as Kenji. As she had inspected a wide part of the mine, and had still not found a vein of dreadiron ore.

" It seems we came a bit late. Those bandits had already harvested all the ores in this mine. There’s no more dr-" before she could finish her sentence, her eyes caught a glint of an object. Right down the end of the path she was on.

Immediately, on her four furry pink and graceful legz, she hurried towards the glint of light. Hoping to find even one ore of dreadiron.

As she arrived at the end of the pathway. She realized that the glint of light was coming from a crack in the wall.

Immediately, she rose her paws up into the air, released her claws, and stuck hard onto the wall.

Breaking the wall, and revealing a large vein of dreadiron. It’s purple light glowing pridefully, as it revealed it’s grandeur.

" Yes, finally!"

After about half and hour of mining out the ores, Kenji’s sack was already filled with dreadiron ores, much more than the amount he needed.

" This’ll definitely be enough for my weapon, and maybe a few more," Kenji said, his expression beaming with joy, as the thought of having his own weapon made his heart jump in joy.

" Alright, I think I’ve gotten enough, it’s time to call Haruka back and let her know we have to leave. Even though I don’t want to see her right now, I can’t just leave her behind. That’ll just deepen the breakup," Kenji said, as he sighed internally, and decides to go looking for her.

" Haru-"

" Kenji, are you stupid?" Shreya suddenly materialized on top of Kenji’s shoulder, Immediately cursing at him the moment she was fully materialized.

" Shreya?" Keni turned his head to look at Shreya, but a moment later, he turned away.

Where had this phoenix been when he was getting roasted by Haruka.

* She only ever comes out, when there is no trouble. And whenever she does, it’s to just fill in the role of comic-relief and insult me till my ears burn. She’s totally not useful!* Kenji thought internally, as he kept on walking ignoring Shreya, as she began nagging at him.

" Kenji, you stupid fool. You’re a tamer, and you need to call your tamed beast. Just tap on your ear and talk to her!" Shreya said, as she continued to insult Kenij for not knowing about a basic beast tamer skill. But rrom the sides of her mouth, a grin appeared.

What Kenji didn’t know was that Shreya had access to his thoughts. And so whatever he thinks of, or says internally, she could actually hear it, but pretends not to be able to hear it.

Just now Kenji had just called her useless, making her a bit annoyed, but she decides to just keep quiet about it for the time being, as the time is not right to reveal her true use and purpose.

* Even if I were to reveal to you the true essence of your existence, you would still nit be able to understand and use this power, until you learn to stop following in the shadows of the heroes* Shreya thought silently, as her mouth twitched.

" You mean I can do that? Cool!" Keni said , as he tapped his ear, and Immediately, a small version of his summoning magic circle appeared in between his fingers and ear.

* Awesome,* Kenji thought internally, and Shreya raised her chin in pride.

" Haruka, return, I’ve found dreadiron ore and harvested it already. It’s time we leave," Kenji said through the "communication circle"

On the ither side, Haruka was a bit shocked to see a mini magic circle appeared on the surface of her ear. But when she heard Kenji’s voice from the circle, she knew it was a way for him to communicate with her.

" I’ve also found some and was just about to come and see you. I’ll meet you at the entrance of the mine....wait for me," she replied, as she gathered the ores and pooled all of them into a sack that she had carried along.

She then tossed the sack onto her back, and immediately used " cloud steps" to speed off towards Kenji, wanting to arrive at the entrance as fast as possible.

" Alright, Haruka is already coming, you should get going and wait for her at the entrance," Shreya said, as she comfortable sat down on Kenji’s shoulder, like a bird in her nest.

Kenji rolled his eyes at Shreya’s non-caring attitude. He should have already gotten used to it, but there was just always this one feeling that there was something more to this bird than meets the eyes.

I mean the first time he met her when he had died, she seemed like a wise sage with a lot of problems. But now she seemed too much like a chill, dumb bird.

The contrast was huge!

After a while of walking back, while carrying a huge sack of dreadiron, Kenji arrived outside, and immediately collapsed on the ground.

" Is the dreadiron too heavy, or am i too weak?" Kenji said to himself, sizing up his muscles, as carrying that many dreadiron Immediately made him sore.

But not too long after, Haruka appeared with another sack of dreadiron ore, actually, it seemed bigger than Kenji’s, and also seemed to him that she was carrying it without too much effort.

As she looked around and spotted Kenji seated on the ground, she walked towards him, and was about to say something, when she suddenly kept quiet.

They hadn’t reconciled and were still in a fight, so her saying hi and greeting him might seem like she had foriven him, and deep down.

She knew she hadn’t.
