Chapter 54: The Crimson Veil cult

"You want Dominion? Well only one, can have Dominion, and if you keep walking on the path of another, you will never have what you truly desire. And no power in the universe can change that,"

Haruka’s words hit him hard, it was like someone had just stabbed a sword through him.

His hands twitched and his emotions fell into turmoil. The pain of her words deepening with every passing second. It didn’t hurt him because she had just lied or said something wrong. But because she had just told him the truth. The cold, hard, painful truth.

One that he had been running away from for so many years, one that he keeps lying to himself that he had overcomed after evolving, not knowing that he was just silently looking for a way to continue, to continue to move in their paths, to continue to make them want him back, to make Yuji and the others see his worth, even though they weren’t here.

Kenji lifted his hand forward, looking straight into Haruka’s eyes," re-summon: ...Argoth," he said, his voice a bit shaky, as he found it hard to speak the right words.

But either way, it worked, as a magic circle appeared below Argoth’s feet and sent him back into the Ether space.

Seeing this, Haruka’s eyes showed a bit of saddness. She regretted what she said Immediately, but still decided to keep a straight face, as she didn’t want Kenji to think that she didn’t mean it.

Yes, she hadn’t meant to say that, she had only meant to make him feel bad and understand why he should never push someone away, even if he wants to protect them. He had the choice of making his own decision, he should give everyone else that choice also.

But mistakenly out of annoyance, she had blurted out those words and had painfully hurt him. But she realized that he needed to hear it. If she hadn’t told it to him, someone else would have, and that would be even more painful.

" I’m so- I think we should start searching for the mine veins, it’s time we hurry up and leave this place, " Haruka said, holding back her original words.

" Yeah, sure, " Kenji said, responding as plainly as ever. With his hands curled into a fist, and his eyes seemingly holding back tears, he immediately turned around and began looking around the walls of the mine, for any sign of a vein that might hold the ores inside.

Haruka turned around, facing the other direction, as she went her own way to find the ores.

The two friends, or the two companions, tamer and beast, went their separate paths. Although it was only for a while, it would be like an eternity for the both of them.

In a place of seclusion and secrecy, a place where the trees were crimson in colour, and beasts of major ferocity moved around.

The wind was eerie and cold, and the grass was poison blue, like the shivering fear of a man’s back. Suddenly, hundreds of strange crimson portals began to appear all around this "devil-like forest.

The portals were crimson in colour, like the blood of a living organism, as it spewed out a red liquid that dripped onto the Earth below and covered the blue grass.

The liquid then began to expand and combine with the ones from the other portals, and soon, they all combined and encopassing this whole forest with their liquid, covering the poison grass below.

The liquid soon crystallized becoming as strong like the ground of a Calgroth’s home.

From one of the portals, a man’s feet was outstretched, then another emerged, entering into this realm of chills and fright.

As the man came out of the portal, another person came out of another portal, then another, and another, and another.....till each and every one of them had emerged, and completely numbered up to one hundred and seventy-six!

Each and every single one of them had a special robe that differs from others. Some were wearing black robes with a strange symbol imprinted on the back.

While others wore red with a symbol, just like the ones the blacks had, except theirs was more of a huge badge, like an emblem, that could be removed.

While the final ones wore a much more darker form of red....crimson! They were only six in numbers, and they all had their heads covered by their hood, unlike everyone else, who’s face was clearly visible.

These people were part of the most powerful and feared cult in the region, with them having connections and infiltrations in the Knight order and government.

These were the members of the Crimson Veil Cult!

Soon loud chatters ensued among them, as they all seemed to talk in a low whispering tone, as if not to disturb someone.

After a while, a man was seen coming out, not from a portal, but from the very depth of this eerie forest. And when all laid their eyes on him, their voices became non-existent, as even some dared not breathe too loudly anymore.

As he approached, they all fell onto one knee in reverance," oh Lord holy saint! We welcome you to this gathering of our god’s people!"

They all said in unison, their loud voices reverbrating through this strange forest,as it shook the leaves on the nearby trees.

A satisfied grin appeared on the hooded face of this ’saint’. He seemed to cherish the fact that he was being revered by his people like this.

" Rise, loyal ones of our god!" As he said that, everyone kneeling man and woman rose up from the ground, like robots programmed to do so.

Scouring the crowd of crimson veils, the saint began the commencement of this gathering.

" I have called you all here today to relate to you that our God has become restless," he paused wanting to see their reaction.

And just like expected, they all did, a multitude of gasps and covering of mouths ensued, almost as of what the saint had said was a huge problem.

" A few days ago, we had sent out a few of our top dark rankers to begin the awakening process. As you all know, a thousand pure souls and blood must be sacrificed to as many dungeons as we can, for only then, can the process even start,"

Everyone nodded to this, as they had already known about this. To awaken their God, they needed to complete three different sacrifices. And the killing of a thousand pure souls was one of them, the first step to bringing their God back.

Suddenly, someone rose their hands, and immediately, the saint gave approval from him to speak.

" Lord saint, is that the reason why you called us here, has the first step been completed? And so it is time to begin the second step?" He asked, mirroring the curiosity of the others, as this was also the question on their minds.

The saint shook his head to this question," no, that is actually the opposite. Instead of using human souls, as the souls of humans are no longer pure, we had moved on to using other pure races, with the majority, being the Cloud Moon Fox race! And a few days ago, we only needed one more soul, before the first step would be completed. But, our brothers and sisters who had gone out to complete the mission, was suddenly ambushed by an adventurer and only one was left without too much major injuries, the other two are still in the blood pool, soaking up life essence to revive themselves,"

Immediately he said this, another wave of shock and gasp erupted. Who was the idiot that had the gut to stop the plan of the crimson veil, do they really want to die that much?

" So what then do we do now? We still need that Cloud Moon Fox, don’t we?" Someone else asked inquisitively.

" Yes, we do, but our brother is not in the right state of mind to give us the description of the adventurer, so we know not of who had caused this i-"

Before the saint could finish his sentence,a loud shout came from behind, in which everyone turned their head to.

" Saint! Saint! It’s gone! It’s gone! They’ve taken it!" A fat like man in a dark veil robe suddenly came rushing out of a portal, as he passed his other brothers and sisters and ran up to the saint.

Immediately he arrived, he fell down to one knee," saint, it’s gone, we’ve been robbed!"

Immediately, a frown crossed face of the saint, as he could not understand the words of the man," speak properly when you talk to me! Who robbed us?!" He said, his voice, both suppressive and thunderous, immediately sending some people back.

* Phew, I almost forgot that the saint was an A level elemental, that shout of his could have struck thunder on us* many thought, as they took a step back, not wanting to hear the saints loud voice again.

" Saint, " the man said, his body shivering, but not daring to stand without permission.

" Saint, the dreadiron ore mine, was attack later today by an Adventurer with a cloud moon fox and a strange beast. He seemed to be a high ranking beast tamer,"

" What?! An adventurer with a Cloud Moon Fox?!" Everyone there said in unison, the saint not an exception.

Immediately, the blue sky above turned dark, as anger became palpable on the face of the saint.

Everyone looked on at the saint, as fear became etched as their expression.

* Oh no, the saint is angry! Ah, please, what happened before should not happen again!" The crimson veil cult members immediately became fearful, as they recalled what happened the last time the saint was angry, everyone almost died of lightning bolts!

" Who did this? Who dared to do this!" Said the saint once more, anger rising in his voice.

" Oh Lord saint, my men say it was an adventurer named Kenji, as they heard the cloud moon fox say his name," the man said once more, his voice shaking in fear, his hands and knees, wanting to fail and fall flat on the ground.

" Kenji,cloud moon fox,...." Suddenly, the dark sky above began to return into the blue sky it once was, causing everyone to heave out a sigh of relief.

" This, this the same adventurer who halted our plans. That, is the same cloud moon fox. His name is Kenji, and he shall soon die!" The cold voice of the saint said, his eyes chilling.

Everyone at the gathering eyes also became cold, as now they knew their target, and this had spelled the end for him.

" For the revival of Blood God! For the purging of the World! We the crimson veil shall stop at nothing to make this world a better place! And whosoever dares to stand in our way, shall be left in a pool of tainted blood!"

The sky crackled, and the Earth rumbled, a massive wave of red light traveled through the forest, as the members slolwly dissolved into blood!
