Chapter 53: You Want Dominion? Follow Your Own Path

The bandit immediately fell to the ground, shaking and shivering, as Haruka toppled over him. Her eyes deciphicating a wave of anger and worry, which faded in an instant, as she swiped her claws at the bandit’s and falling him into unconsciousness.

In that fleeting moment where worry was evident in her eyes, Kenji saw. His heart began to beat rapidly, as he came to the realization that, yes, she still cared, even if she acted like she didn’t, she, still cared. And that alone could bring a man any joy.

" Yo- you fought for me, you still care," Kenji said, joy evident in his voice, as a slight smile crept up his face, the feeling that someone still cared, the feeling that he wasn’t just thrown away Immediately washed over him.

" Are you an idiot?!" Haruka exclaimed, her soft voice gone, now replaced by one with utter rage.

" You think i saved you because I cared?" Her words sending his soul into a whirl of heart pain.

" Remember, the life of a tamer and his tamed beast is unfairly interwoven. If you die, I die, but if I die, you just feel a little pain. So unless I want to die and completely end the bloodline of my tribe, then I still have to make sure you’re alive. I didn’t fight for you, I fought for myself," her words pieeceed the deepest region of his heart like a dagger drilled into the skull of a beast.

It hurt.

But she was right. He had sent her away when she wanted to help. And now that he wanted her help, he thought he could easily get her back?

* What a fool I’ve been* he thought, a tear streaming down his eyes.

Even after seeing the drop of tear, Haruka’s heart didn’t soften, instead, it hardened," you care too much about the approval of others. You care too much about proving yourself to everyone. Haruka then jumped back to fight off the other bandits, as the loud roars of Daeron and Argoth reverbrated at another side of the mine. They couldn’t see them, but they could hear their groans and pains, with the majority seemingly coming from Argoth.

In a dark, void like space, a single flame kept on burning like an eternal entity. Slowly, the flame started to form into a being.

Wings spread, eyes sharp and body releasing flame energy. The falme slowly transformed into an immortal Phoenix, or more specifically..... Shreya.

Shreya looked around the dark space, the void like area all to familiar, as this was Kenji’s mindscape. The place of all his thoughts and thinking, as it was also the resting place of his system, Shreya.

" Kenji. When would you learn?" She said, shaking her head, as a magical like screen slolwly materialized in front of her, showing her the scene of what was taking place.

What Kenji was and is experiencing outside of his mind scape. She could see Haruka, Hear Argoth, and even feel the breath of her host.

Everything was within her sight. Right now, she knew what Kenji was thinking, and why he was thinking about it.

Haruka’s words hit him hard. But just like the famous saying always goes," the truth hurts sometimes,"

When she first appeared in this mindscape, she was exposed to everything about Kenji, his past life on Earth, how he was played because he wanted to be noticed and how he was then thrown aside after appearing in this world.

Everything that happened was meant to be able to transform one into a detached person. One who didn’t care about the thoughts and idle of others, but he seemed to somehow defy logic and still try to prove himself.

" Oh Kenji, if you don’t learn to stop caring about other people’s opinions, and if you don’t, then "they" will eventually find you.....and kill you!" Shreya said, her words etched with solemnity.

This was the real her, a serious, wise phoenix. But when she’s out and speaking with Kenji, she needed to act stupid and annoying. As it was the only way to make him grow on his own.

" One week. If he doesn’t grow in one week, I will stop my foolish act, and tell him...teach him. He knows nothing of how strong g his powers are. In his mind, he still sees himself as a beast tamer. I wonder how he would react when he realizes that no one has ever tamed a dungeon monster before, especially a non-matter monster like a shadow beast," A profound smile washed up ok her face, as she seemed to enter into a state of nostalgia.

" Oh! My daughter’s Mafaeing is about to happen in a few weeks. That wretched dragon prince would soon try to take her hand in marriage. I need to remind Kenji of his promise. We need to head over to the Phoenix realm,"

As tye fight raged on, the anguishing yells of the bandits and tye roars of the gigantic beast rocked the cave so much that even the stones on the mine ceiling, had no choice but to yeild and falk to the ground.

Soon, after a while, silence.

It’s over, as the eerie silence of the mine took over.

Haruka had defeated all the bandits into unconsciousness. Well, all except for the boss, who was badly wounded and injured, a small pool of blood forming under his feet.

" You bastards! You don’t know what you’ve caused! If you don’t let us go, the crimson veil cult will hunt you down!" Said the leader in a desperate attempt to survive.

Not caring a bit about his words, Haruka step forward, her pink pupils gleaming with rage, as every step she took made the fear in the bandit leader intensify.

With one step forward she took, the bandit leader would take three steps back, until the moment when a loud roar reverbrated through the mine.

Raahhhhsh!

Boom!

The huge gigantic body of a dinosaur suddenly fell to the ground, the roar that was once heard, was more of that of a dying cry, as the dino fell down completely, creating a cloud of dust.

As the dust cleared and the scene was finally revealed, a towering beast made entirely out of pure intent of darkness; Argoth.

His body stable, yet unstable, as the sadows moved around it in a chaotic but beautiful manner.

This immediately steeled the fear in the heart of the bandit leader. He couldn’t believe it. His beast of the advanced bloodline had just been defeated by a deformed beast of strange origin.

But now that he thought deeply about it, he had never seen a beast made of shadows before.

His mind didn’t go to that of a shadow beast, as that was classified as a dungeon monsters and it was impossible to tame a monster from a dungeon. Many have tried, but all have died.

Haruka smiled for a second, but immediately, it became a frown, as she turned bacak to the bandit leader, her eyes even more fierce than the ungodly body of a shadow beast.

" Take your underlings and get out of here! I don’t want to ever see your face in this mine again!" Haruka exclaimed, her voice thundering with rage.

Immediately, without wasting a second, the leader was about to slap all of his underlings awake when they all suddenly stood up from their supposed " unconscious" state and ran out, leaving their boss behind.

" Hey! You bastards! Wait up!" Said the leader, as he jumped and raced out of the mine.

As the bandits turned tails and ran, Haruka looked back to Kenji, who still stood silent, suprised and shocked by the whole scene that had just unfolded before him.

The way Haruka handled everything and the way Argoth gave a finishing blow to Daeron, leaving the beast either dead or close to death.

Haruka slowly walked up to him, her body graceful, as her pink fur blew in the wind," now you see, we don’t need you, you need us, but you set us aside," Haruka said, her words sending another sting into his heart.

Kenji clenched his fist as he gritted his teeth," I said I’m sorry already, I was wrong! Why can’t you just get that?!" Kenji said, frusturation bubbling within him.

Haruka halted in her steps as she heard Kenji’s words," I’ll stop being upset when you stop trying to act like the only one alive! I’ll stop acting this way when you stop trying to prove yourself to people who already deemed you worthy! I’ll stop, if you tell me why you keep acting this way! Just stop already!" Haruka said, yelling back at Kenji with immense frusturation.

Her yell was enough to shake the core of the mine and make Kenji step back.

Seeing this, Haruka shook her head," look at that. I’m your tamed beast Kenji, I tell, and you step back. You’re weak, because you believe you’re weak. You’re weak, because you keep trying to compare yourself to someone who isn’t even here! You can never be strong if you don’t let it go, and stop this journey of comparation. He/she had their path, you have your own path. Stop following someone else’s footsteps and walk on your own path. You want Dominion? Well only one, can have Dominion, and if you keep walking on the path of another, you will never have what you truly desire. And no power in the universe can change that,"
