Chapter 130: Third year Fay
Noel got to the infirmary and lay Riven on the bed. Ariel walked beside him. She looked at the damage on his body and frowned.
"He has suffered several heavy injuries. We’ll have to take him somewhere secure before the demonized get here," she said.
"No—cough—just patch me up," Riven said.
"What are you saying, kid? You’ll die if I don’t treat you quick," she responded.
"No, please, patch me up. I know where they are headed, and I need to stop them," Riven said.
"That’s sadly not something I can worry about now. Your health is priority," Ariel said. Riven grabbed her hand and looked her right in the eye.
"Please, we don’t have time. Help me fight, please," he said. Ariel looked at him. She could see the genuine desire in his eyes to go back out there.
"Fine, this goes against everything that makes me a healer, but I’ll patch you up the best I can as quick as possible," she said. She stretched out her hands and started healing. A soft green light shined from her hand to his body and began healing the small wounds first before working on the bigger wounds.
But what she was doing wasn’t rapid healing. She wasn’t securing his insides and making sure that he was far from trouble; rather, she was basically extending the time he had until the body couldn’t take it anymore.
After five minutes of standing there and healing, she finally stopped.
"That’s the best I can do for you right now. I still don’t want to allow you head out like this, but I’m going to trust you, kid," she said and placed her hand on his shoulder. Riven nodded and came down from the bed. He looked Noel in the eye and nodded at him.
Riven walked out of the infirmary and saw Mia and Liana, along with the third year. They were shocked when they saw him walk out, as they knew the type of injuries they saw.
"Why are you walking already?" Mia asked.
"Ms. Ariel patched me up for now. I’m good to go," Riven said.
"Your body took multiple heavy blows. It’s a miracle you were alive when I got here," the third year said. She walked toward Riven. Her hair was light grey in color, matching her eyes. She had a cold expression on her face, and she talked without excessively moving her lips.
There was a sword hanging on her waist, and from just a look, Riven could tell it was a very fine sword.
"My name is Fay," she said.
"I’m Riven. Thank you for saving me," he said and bowed his head.
"You stopped those demonized for so long, despite the fact that I couldn’t stop them. You bought the academy enough time to get ready. You are the one that is needing of praise," she spoke in a very formal way.
Riven looked around. He didn’t see any demonized here, but he was sure they would run the whole school in no time.
"We need to find them—the transfer students. They are going to unlock the gates that were planted all around the school and activate the barrier that will lock us in.
I overheard them speaking of this. We have to move fast, and I think I know exactly where they are headed next," Riven said.
"Hmm, the instructors are too busy fighting against the demonized. The demonized are already filling up the academy. Any more gates and the entire academy will fall to ruin," Fay said.
"We’ll have to go ourselves," Riven said. He paused for a moment. "But the gates still need to be closed," he suddenly said, remembering that if they didn’t close the gates, more and more demonized would pour into the academy.
He started thinking of a way to handle the situation, but Fay beat him to it. "I’ll handle it. I contacted some of my mates before coming here. They should arrive in no time. We’ll destroy the gates together."
Riven was skeptical about leaving her to it, but there was no time to be stubborn now. He had to move. He bowed to her, and the four of them ran in the opposite direction.
After they were gone, Fay scratched her head. The door of the infirmary opened, and Ariel walked in.
"You lied about the backup. You are alone," she said.
"Well, yeah. I could already tell that big guy wouldn’t leave if he knew I was alone," Fay said and started walking in the direction of the gate. "Miss Ariel, stay safe. We need you if we don’t want to end up dead," she said.
"You too, Fay. Your brother will string me if you died," Ariel said and watched Fay walk away.
"Why do I do this? Acting all heroic like I’m something special. I’m about to get myself killed here, but either way, it doesn’t matter.
Like my brother always says, give it your all and then go beyond."
Fay walked into the main hallway. She could already hear the roars and screeching of the demonized. She drew a deep breath and pulled her sword. Fog suddenly spread out in all directions, spreading fast and quick, covering the whole area.
She dashed forward, running at her top speed toward the hallway that led to the library—her target.
When she got there, she saw the demonized still rushing out of the library. She grabbed her sword, used her fog to cover the entire path, and charged in.
The first demonized attacked head-on through the fog. She moved to the side, dodged the attack, and cut through the demonized in one slash.
Without a single pause, she pressed forward, gritting her teeth. She killed the second and the third, still hiding in her fog, but the deeper that she got, the more intense it got, with two and three demonized attacking at the same time.
But she managed to kill and keep killing them. Her hands slowly got number, and she could barely keep swinging, but she didn’t stop.
