Chapter 122: Let’s Get it
Riven, Mia, Noel, and Liana made it into the building.
"Where do we go from here?" Noel asked.
"The library," Riven said immediately and ran in that direction. He recalled the first gate that was opened—it happened in the first-year library.
The gate released low-level demonized in mass numbers to kick-start the chaos. None of the instructors knew about the real plan, so they would all get caught up in killing the weak demonized, while the real threat was still waiting to be unlocked.
They ran without stop and finally made it to the library, but there was someone there waiting for them—Blaze. He stood with his back leaned against the wall and his eyes closed.
He slowly opened his eyes and smiled, showing his sharp teeth.
"I really wished I would get enough time to know all of you and enjoy this academy, but it seems all of that has been cut short," he said and pushed himself off the wall. He stretched his body a bit and then faced them.
"You have fought me before. You already know the gap in our powers," Riven said.
"Hahaha, well that’s true, I have to say, losing like that was not something I wanted to experience. But there are two important things you need to know.
The first is, when we fought, what I used was strength tied to this body, nothing more. I wanted to see what the strength of being like a normal human is.
But now, I’ll have to go all out. And the second thing is, all I have to do is hold you back for at most five minutes," he said, raising five fingers up.
Riven didn’t say anything more. He simply brought out Twilight.
"I’ll hold him. The three of you just have to get past," Riven said. They nodded and took out their swords, ready to go.
"This is going to be fun," Blaze said with a grin. He put on his gauntlets and got into a stance. But it didn’t stop there—his eyes suddenly changed, the white inverted into black and the pupils turned blood red.
’Demon eyes? Blaze didn’t have demon eyes in the story,’ Riven thought.
Demon eyes—they weren’t something anyone could have. They were special eyes that took certain criteria to awaken. The first was having demon blood, and then the rest depending on what eyes the person was trying to awaken.
The eyes that Blaze had were even more rare than the rest. These eyes allowed someone to have extreme observation skills, being able to predict with high chances of success.
And with the risk of losing some eyesight, they could see a few seconds into the future. It was a powerful eye to have.
Blaze didn’t wait for them to attack—he attacked first, slashing with his hands and causing a massive wave of fire.
Riven cut through the flames with ease, but as he looked up, he saw Blaze’s fist near his face. Riven quickly blocked, but as the fist touched the sword, an explosion followed, throwing Riven back.
"You’ll have to do better to win this," Blaze said.
Noel attacked Blaze from the side, his sword crackling with lightning as he slashed. Blaze bent backward, dodging the attack. He continued to do a flip and then launched forward with a punch.
Noel had learned from what happened to Riven and he tried to parry, but Blaze stopped the punch just before it got to the sword, and it confused Noel for a bit.
Blaze went for a kick instead, slamming Noel in the gut, and then charging at him as he stumbled back to finish it up.
But before he could get to Noel, Mia attacked, using flash step to get there fast. She attacked with a slash—Blaze dodged it and countered with a punch right to her face, sending her flying into a wall.
"That’s enough!" Liana yelled, attacking from behind, her sword raised above her head, flames covering it.
"Stop yelling," Blaze said, spinning around with a kick right into her side and sending her flying.
’He is predicting our movements very well. He knows how to use that eye,’ Riven thought. He got into a stance again and charged forward.
’But it doesn’t matter. I just have to overpower him.’
Riven slashed with all his strength. Blaze knew he couldn’t take that attack, so he leaped out of the way. The sword hit the ground, and the flames exploded fiercely, the force still managing to hit Blaze and slam him against the wall.
Blaze got up immediately, but Noel was already above him, slashing down.
"Shit," he cursed. He crossed his arms and blocked the attack.
Boom.
He skidded back and slammed into the door of the library.
"It ends here," Mia said. She used flash step to reach him in an instant. She stabbed for his heart, wind spinning around her sword like a drill.
Blaze could see the attack coming with his eyes, but there was no way for him to dodge it, so he blocked it. The sword hit his gauntlets and shattered one into bits.
Luckily, he had still blocked the attack. He countered immediately with a punch using the only good gauntlet. Mia blocked, but there was an explosion as the gauntlet made impact with the sword and Mia was sent flying.
The smile on his face still didn’t fade, even after being backed into a corner. He stood there as if he was having the time of his life.
"Honestly, I thought my demon eyes would be more than enough to hold you back for five minutes, but it seems I have heavily underestimated you.
So it’s time for me to go all out," Blaze said.
Suddenly, his aura changed, turning into something dark and sinister.
"Hahahaha, to think I have to go this far," he said. His arms started changing, transforming into black, scaly-looking arms with long claws.
From his back, two more arms tore out, splashing blood as they came out. They looked the same as his scaly arms, only longer.
"Let’s get it," he said, still wearing his grin.
