Chapter 121: Quasi demon
Chapter 121: Quasi demon
Riven and Quin watched as he slowly transformed. Pop, pop, his bones shifted, his body grew in size in a way that looked extremely painful.
Suddenly, Quin dashed toward the boy. He stretched out his hand—a black sword materialized. The best way for him to take down the boy was now, before his transformation was complete.
He stabbed right for the boy’s head, but the sword hit a barrier. The barrier absorbed all the force, and a massive explosion of force followed, throwing Quin back.
Quin flipped in the air and landed on his feet. He skidded back a few meters before he finally stopped.
"Hahaha, hahaha. Did you really think I wouldn’t prepare for you, Sir Quin?" the boy roared, his voice contorting as he spoke. His change became faster, his skin changed color, and soon he became an eight-foot-tall humanoid creature.
His grey skin pulsed with some sort of purple energy flowing through his veins. His eyes glowed purple. From his back, two bat-like wings tore out, spilling purple blood as they came out. The same thing happened as his tail tore out as well.
Spikes formed down from his neck all the way to his tail, grey in color, but the tip was purple. His face shifted into some sort of lizard-looking face with razor-sharp teeth.
"Roarrrrrr!" He let out a terrifying roar that shook the entire area, making some students pass out immediately.

Riven read everything that showed up. He didn’t know what to feel about the situation anymore. Just a few seconds ago, he had been thinking about how he would finally take control of this world—and the next second, the world showed him how far things had gone out of control.
While Riven was distracted with thoughts, the quasi-demon attacked him, shooting forward at a speed Riven could only dream of reacting to. It was only when its metallic-looking claws were near his face did he see it, but there was nothing he could do.
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder pulling him back. Quin threw him back with just one hand and blocked the attack from the quasi-demon.
Clang.
The sound of their collision rocked the entire training ground. It was so loud it burst the eardrums of some of the students.
Gallan, who had been watching the whole thing in shock, immediately passed out due to the sound, his ears bleeding as he lay on the ground.
Riven, who had been thrown back, slammed into the ground. He bounced and rolled for a few meters before stopping.
He got on his feet immediately and looked up at Quin and the quasi-demon. He knew that Quin was vastly stronger than a quasi-demon, but he already knew there was no way this was going to end here.
Quin pushed the quasi-demon back and went for a slash at its head.
Clang.
The sound of swords clashing tore through the training ground again. When Riven looked up, he saw Sally blocking Quin’s attack, but Quin didn’t look shocked by this development.
"I’ve always wondered when you would finally show your true intentions. It seems that time has come," Quin said calmly.
"Screw you, Quin," she said with a smile and pushed him back.
The three transfer students had also come with her. She turned to look at them.
"I have already set everything up. Go and activate it," she said. They nodded in return and started running into the academy.
Riven got up and shot after them. He needed to stop them before they activated the gates. But things could never be so easy—the quasi-demon leaped in front of him and attacked.
Riven managed to react this time, parrying the attack, but the force pushed him back.
"Shit. How do I get through? There isn’t time for this," he said.
Then, out of nowhere, blazing red flames slammed into the quasi-demon and pushed it back.
"Riven, go ahead!" Robert yelled, rushing toward the quasi-demon. At this point, all the students had scattered, running away for their lives—except a few that had passed out and some that stayed to fight.
Robert caught up, so did all the top ten except for Chloe and Sophia, who were at magic class.
"I’ll stay and fight this thing," Robert said.
"I’ll stay as well," the elf said. His twin sister nodded in agreement.
"Count me in," Jack said with a smile.
"I’ll stay," Lance spoke up as well.
Riven saw the determined looks on their faces. He nodded and thanked them. "Thank you," he said.
"Don’t sweat it. Now you guys go and stop them," Robert said.
Riven nodded again and turned, running toward the building with Noel, Mia, and Liana following him. The quasi-demon tried to stop them, but a blade of light stabbed into its chest. It didn’t penetrate, but it pushed it back, giving them enough time to run past it.
Sally, who was locked in a staring contest with Quin, smiled when she noticed what was happening.
"Seems we have quite the smart students. I wonder which of us made them fast thinkers like that," she said.
"They have only been here two weeks. I doubt any of us have had any real impact in their lives. What they’re showing is their own ability.
"That being said, it’s a good thing this happened—because now you won’t influence their life anymore," Quin said and suddenly vanished. Sally vanished as well, and suddenly a loud sonic explosion happened in the sky above as both of them clashed with their swords.
They both shot through the air, their sounds clashing so fast the normal eye could never follow. Each collision was as if a bomb went off.
