An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me
Chapter 106: Lance’s thoughts

Chapter 106: Lance’s thoughts

They all walked into the depths of the first floor, and though their weapons were out, they were relaxed. The first floor was not a serious threat, so they weren’t too worried.

The first Lizardman spawned and rushed toward them. It was a seven-foot-tall lizard with slightly longer hands and legs compared to the average lizard. It was only able to take a few steps before an ice lance pierced through its chest and killed it.

Chloe stood behind her brother with her hand stretched out. They were all shocked at how quick and easily she had taken down the monster.

For some reason, Chloe glanced at Riven after she killed the monster. The monster decomposed and left behind the crystal, but before they could pick it up, they heard a loud screech, and in the next second, over fifty Lizardmen rushed from the depths of the dungeon.

"I don’t think that’s supposed to happen," Noel said, already getting into a fighting stance.

"It isn’t, but we still have to fight through it," Robert said.

Riven had the feeling that this should have been the moment they left this place and never looked back, but his desire to fight those Lizardmen was greater.

Everyone got ready to fight, and when the monsters were in range, they all moved. Riven charged in, moving in a straight line. He was about to unleash a flame attack, but Lance spoke.

"Remember, we can’t use mana," he said, his gaze pinned on Riven. Riven immediately stopped the attack he wanted to use and went for a normal slash. His sword cut through the monster and killed it, but immediately after, he retreated along with the others.

"Don’t you think right now is not the best time to follow those rules?" Riven asked.

"If you use your mana, I’ll be the one to tell Mr. Quin. If you can’t take out such monsters without mana, I guess you aren’t worth your rank," Lance said. He attacked the incoming Lizardmen, swinging with extreme precision. His sword cut through two in one slash and killed them.

’I forgot this dude is a stuck-up cock-sucker,’ Riven thought.

"Stop thinking, start hunting," Mia said to Riven, snapping him out of his thoughts. He looked at her and smiled. "How about a competition? Whoever kills the most has to pay for our next meal," Riven offered.

Mia seemed intrigued by the offer. She immediately agreed to it.

"Then let’s do it," she said and charged in. Her moves were fast but refined. Her sword shined, reflecting the light of the crystals, and as it fell, the heads of Lizardmen fell as well.

Not wanting to be left behind, Riven charged into the massacre. Twilight cut through the Lizardmen with ease.

A Lizardman attacked from his front, a bite going for his neck. Riven stepped back and dodged the mouth before stabbing upward into the brain, spraying its blood from the top. He pulled the sword out and turned, clashing with the claws of another Lizardman.

He gripped the sword with both hands and pushed the Lizardman back, then followed with a thrust right through the heart. He didn’t bother grabbing the crystals now. He already knew he would have enough when this was done, so he focused on cutting them down.

Two Lizardmen tried to flank him. He slashed the one to the left first and continued his combo to kill the second, but before his sword got to it, another sword stabbed through its back and killed it.

Mia smiled while holding onto the other end of the sword. Her smile said everything she wanted to say: "I’m faster." She turned around and slashed down another Lizardman.

Riven didn’t know why, but this was getting fun for him. The competition with her made him smile for some reason.

He got into the groove and began hacking down Lizardmen left and right. He dodged their attacks and countered with clean slashes, looking at Mia at every chance he got.

The others watched the two of them go overboard. They were also killing in large numbers, but they weren’t nearly as fast as those two.

Liana watched the two of them and frowned. She started cutting down Lizardmen faster as well, but she allowed emotions to cloud her as she killed them, creating an opening for a Lizardman to attack with its tail. She saw the tail, but there was nothing she could do.

And then out of nowhere, Riven blocked the tail while Mia cut down the Lizardman. They both smiled at each other before charging off again.

Liana stood there. She gripped her sword tighter. The magnet on her face was visible.

"Liana, snap back," Lance said to her. He killed one of the monsters and retreated to her side.

But there was no need for her to get back into it because they had already killed all the monsters. The crystals littered the floor.

Riven picked up ten of them and stored them before walking to sit down and catch his breath. Robert found what he did suspicious, but he didn’t say anything about it.

"You are sitting down just after that small battle?" Mia walked up to him and said.

"I’m not a machine like you. Killing monsters at that speed is tiring," Riven said.

"Well, rest up because we will have to face the second round the same way. From the looks of this one, it was a tie," she said.

At another side, Liana stood with Lance. She watched Riven and Mia and then spoke, "I can’t believe she would get close to him after everything."

Lance heard her say that and asked, "Is there something wrong with her getting close to him?"

"It’s not really important. Don’t bother about it. What you should be worried about is that you are the chosen of Lumis, yet he is stronger than you," Liana said.

Lance immediately frowned when he heard that. He took a deep breath to calm himself and then spoke, "There’s no way he is stronger than me. If I were to use my blessing and the rest of my arsenal, I’m sure I’d defeat him."

"Have you thought about the fact that he might have not shown all his cards as well? He might be stronger than what we see, and that’s what I hate about it.

Someone like him shouldn’t have such power, yet he does," she said.

"Sounds like jealousy if you ask me," Lance said. She shot him a cold look.

"It’s not a bad thing to be jealous, especially when it’s toward someone as self-centered as him. He possesses the power, and rather than be the beacon everyone can follow, he is doing whatever he wants," Lance said. He tightened his fist as he spoke.

"And who said we needed a beacon? I for one am not ready to be a follower," Liana said and walked away, leaving Lance standing there confused.

’This was supposed to be it, my chance to rise, to stand above. That man promised me that when I came to this world, everything would go in my favor.

Then why? Why is Riven always spoiling everything, and why can’t I beat him? I have the blessing, the system, the cheats. I have it all.

Why, why, why? He has become too much of an issue for me. But I can’t just get rid of him. That man said I have to be the righteous hero that saves this world, and then everything I wanted will be mine.

I can rule this world, have all the women and money I want if I just stay righteous and kill the demons. The day I carry out evil, the blessing of Lumis will fail.’ Lance stood there thinking. He looked over at Riven. Their eyes met for a few seconds, and Riven gave a smile that sent shivers down Lance’s spine.

’Why the hell did he smile at me? Does he know something?’ Lance wondered.

’That Lance, I’m sure he is getting fed up with me already. But that doesn’t matter. After all, I’m here to make this story a better one,’ Riven thought.

After everyone rested up, they all got up and headed deeper into the labyrinth. For some reason, they didn’t run into the Lizardmen again for a while, which was weird.

It was not until twenty minutes later that they heard a deep growl, and the Lizardmen spawned—over twenty of them. They looked normal, all but one in the back, as a very thick bloodlust was emitted from its body.

When all of them laid eyes on it, they knew it wasn’t normal. Riven immediately locked his gaze on it, but he wasn’t the only one, as Lance was locked on it as well.

Chloe made the first attack by firing a dozen ice blades at the Lizardmen, and the others followed immediately behind, the Lizardman at the back stood while the other Lizardman men attacked.
