Chapter 105: Dungeon
Chapter 105: Dungeon
When they arrived back at the academy, Riven decided to ask her who they would be taking.
"So, who and who do we take with us?" he asked.
"Well, we fall into the top ten. There is no way we will be taking anyone that is above top ten, regardless of what skill they have.
Hierarchy is one of the most important things in this academy, and we have to ensure that we follow that.
So in our case, we will be taking from the top ten, preferably from the top six. You are rank one, I’m rank four, I believe your brother is rank five. That should cover three.
The remaining three... besides the fact that I don’t really like the hero candidate chosen by the goddess, we still have to ask him, he is second, after all. The prince is rank three," Mos explained.
"I see, I didn’t really know the ranks of everyone. So, how about Chloe?" Riven asked.
"The princess might seem like a delicate person, but she is strong. I’ve clashed with her once in a spar, she is a better mage than Sofia. She is rank six," Mia said.
’Hmm? The princess didn’t really have much of an input into the main story of Lance. The only times she showed up were when she was with the prince.’
"So what about seventh and eighth?" Riven asked.
"Who do you think? Those two spots go to Liana and Sofia. The last is Jack, and then the elves. Oddly, they were given the same spot, so we have two rank tens," she said.
"Hmm, understandable," he replied. They headed into the academy and into their dorm, first to Noel’s room to find him.
Knock knock.
Riven knocked on the door and waited for a reply.
"Who is it?" Noel responded.
"It’s me bro, I want us to go to a dungeon, but all the dungeons in the capital require six people. I’m already going with Mia, so I was thinking you should come as well," Riven said.
Noel went silent for a few seconds before he replied, "That sounds good. Gimme a minute, let me get ready," he said.
"Going to a dungeon? That’s nice. Can I tag along?" Robert came out of nowhere and asked, his hands in his pockets and a smile on his face. His sister was right behind him, while Lance and Liana were there as well.
When Liana saw Riven and Mia standing together, she let out a small scoff and looked away.
"A dungeon raid sounds fun. The top ten haven’t gotten to do anything together. I think this will be a good opportunity," Lance chipped in.
"Uhm, sorry, but there is no way I’m going with all eleven people," Riven answered immediately. His response made Lance frown.
"Now, now, let’s not get heated over something like this. We won’t take everyone. Jack is busy with training, Sofia is also studying how to expand her spirit zone, and the elven twins aren’t around either.
That leaves only the seven of us. That’s one above the normal amount, but it’s fine, we can just go to a B-ranked dungeon instead," Robert suggested.
"I never said I was going anywhere," Liana said.
"Now, now, Liana. Let’s not get blinded by emotions. This is a good opportunity, especially to see more about our rank one. Or don’t you think so, Lance?" Robert asked.
"Definitely. I want to see your strength up close. After you defeated the demonized, it was clear you are strong, but I want to know how much—and this is a good opportunity.
You also need to know this: you might be strong, but I’ll never agree to the way you think," Lance said.
"Stop being a self righteous prick. Nobody likes that. His mind is not supposed to align with yours," Mia interjected.
Lance frowned, but he didn’t respond to her. He kept his peace.
’Why the hell did she just attack him like that? I know that she’s harsh, but she should also respect his strength. Right now, she seems to simply hate him,’ Riven thought.
Noel’s door swung open and he walked out. He paused when he saw everyone there.
"What’s going on?" he asked with a perplexed look.
"Nothing, just gathering the team for the dungeon," Riven said and walked past Lance. Their shoulders brushed unintentional, but to both of them, it seemed like the other did it on purpose.
The dungeon that Robert had chosen for them was known as the Lizardman Cove. Lizardmen monsters had high attack power, especially in their tails, and they had tough defenses.
The gate of the dungeon was a massive metal gate, several feet thick. It opened automatically. It was connected to a mountain at the edge of the capital.
There were a lot of adventurers here entering and leaving the dungeon. They had to show their pass before they could enter, but as students of the academy, they could enter without any issues they just had to sign a document that stated they came of their own will.
There was a small building there that the guards stayed in, so they all went there, signed, and headed for the dungeon.
They walked into the massive gates of the dungeon. The inside was far bigger than the one at Riven’s home. The walls rose for several tens of feet, over thirty feet tall and forty feet wide.
The entire walls had been remade with stone and marble, and so was the ground. The sides of the walls had crystal bulbs hanging and producing light.
"This is it, the Lizardman Cove," Robert said. They started walking deeper inside, under the gazes of the adventurers still there. The adventurers murmured and talked about them, but they didn’t pay attention.
After about ten minutes of walking, they could no longer see any more adventurers. That meant they could finally get started clearing the first floor of the dungeon. Everyone immediately pulled out their weapons.
