Chapter 74: Lucas never loved me

"Stop!" Damien commanded when he was just a few steps away from them, casually putting his hands into his pockets. Did Aurora deliberately avoid him?

"Don’t stop," Aurora urged as Scarlet’s strides slowed. She feared losing her composure if she faced Damien directly. It was already challenging to control herself.

"Would you love to be locked in your room for two days?" Damien threatened, his voice tinged with anger. He seemed to be using his authority over her again.

Unable to hold back any longer, Scarlet stepped forward and let go of Aurora’s arm.

"Scarlet, no!" Aurora called after her but the latter was too annoyed to listen to her pleas. Aurora bit her lips, worried that things might not end well if they both engaged in a heated argument.

"What do you think she is, your puppet?" Scarlet confronted him boldly.

"And what are you? Her maid?" Damien retorted, his demeanor matching Scarlet’s boldness.

Enoch worried that Scarlet might lose her temper and do something regrettable. He knew her anger could be overwhelming and harmful to others. Though Damien was even more unstable, this confrontation wasn’t going to end well. Enoch didn’t want to go near Scarlet, knowing how repulsed she would be by his presence.

Scarlet scoffed and moved closer to Damien, muttering as she warned, "I don’t care if you kill me, but I won’t let you use Aurora like some plaything."

Damien chuckled, which annoyed Scarlet. He found her words amusing?

"Haven’t you heard? She is already my plaything. And playthings are meant to be used and disposed of," he sneered, catching Scarlet off guard.

"What?" She asked incredulously. Was Damien planning to dispose of Aurora when he was done using her?

Thanks to Sarah’s sensitive she-wolf ears, she heard every bit of their conversation. Her earlier anger subsided, and she smiled upon hearing Damien call Aurora a plaything. So she wasn’t important to Damien, and he was merely using her?

Aurora looked at him, feeling tears welling up in her eyes. Damien had just said he would dispose of her when he was done using her?

Was she dreaming, or was this the same man who cuddled her the other night? Was Damien faking his rare affection to make her trust him? He had given off hints that he didn’t care about her, but sometimes, he confused her with sudden affection that made her want to trust him.

Scarlet was right, he had no respect for women and didn’t care about their feelings. She had almost developed feelings for such a man.

Enoch rubbed his forehead, Scarlet and her temper always made things worse.

"You should leave," he suggested, approaching Scarlet, but she pushed him away and faced Damien once more.

"You are right, I forgot what type of men you both are. Besides your own lives, no other lives matter. What was I even thinking? You are a devil," she said, smirking, content with her harsh words towards him.

Damien’s fists clenched, infuriated by Scarlet’s belittling words. Why should he care about others’ lives when he had his own to live?

"Oh, I didn’t know someone else knew me so well," he admitted, smiling.

Aurora had already tuned out, lost in her own thoughts. Her past with Lucas replayed in her mind, and all she could see were her parents’ lifeless bodies.

’Lucas never loved me,’ the words kept echoing in her mind, and everything went silent as she drowned in her memories.

"Scarlet, you are making things worse," Enoch intervened, standing in front of her to block her view from Damien.

"Stop being his dog and get a life. Murderer!" Scarlet sneered at him, glaring at Enoch with evident disgust. Despite the passing years, he was still defending Damien unconditionally.

"Just please stop," Enoch preferred that Scarlet vent her anger at him rather than at Damien. He knew she truly hated him, and Damien was just caught in the crossfire from years ago.

Sarah found their relationship confusing. It seemed strange how Scarlet could speak so boldly to Damien, and she noticed how casually Damien’s beta called her by name. What could be going on between those four?

"Sure, while you are at it, get a cold drink for him. He looks like he’s about to blow up," Scarlet retorted, then turned away and began walking. However, her panic resurfaced when she saw Aurora clutching her chest.

"Aurora!" She screamed and rushed to her side, holding her securely. What had she done? Was it because of what Damien said that made Aurora panick?

"I am sorry," Scarlet pleaded, trying to assist Aurora in catching her breath.

Aurora attempted to speak, but she suddenly fainted in Scarlet’s arms.

"Aurora!!" Scarlet yelled, fearing the worst. If only she hadn’t confronted Damien, she wouldn’t have caused harm to Aurora.

"Don’t come close. Jerk!" Scarlet warned Enoch when he approached to check on her.

"Instead of crying, why don’t you take her to the hospital?" He reasoned.

"She doesn’t need your filthy hands on her," Scarlet remained firm, struggling to support Aurora.

Damien was ready to walk away, deciding not to care about them, but he reluctantly approached and forcefully took Aurora from Scarlet’s grasp.

"Give her to me!" Scarlet yelled, trying to retrieve Aurora from Damien’s hold, but Enoch intervened and allowed Damien to leave.

"Let me go, what are you doing?!" She screamed, hitting and struggling to free herself as she watched Damien carry Aurora away.

Enoch refused to let go of her and held her tightly.

"I will hate you forever if you do not let me go now!" She threatened, glaring at him.

"Calm down, I will take you to see her once you are calm," Enoch replied, unwavering in his grip, and allowed her to sob.

Scarlet eventually stopped struggling and began sobbing in Enoch’s arms. His heart ached seeing her cry, but he knew he had been a jerk to her, and there seemed to be no choice but to cause her pain.

’I am sorry,’ he silently pleaded and let her cry.
