Chapter 48: The drunk Aurora

Chapter 48: The drunk Aurora

Aurora was just about to take a sip of her drink when she spotted Damien and Enoch just a couple of steps away from them.

"What? Hummwai..." Scarlet was still drinking her wine, mumbling incoherent words, and quickly downed the rest of her drink.

"Let’s go," Aurora didn’t wait for Scarlet to fully recover, pulling her away and leading them into the hall. Once Damien and Enoch were out of sight, she breathed a sigh of relief and took a sip of her wine.

"Wow, this is good. What is it?" Aurora enjoyed the taste of the wine and asked for more details. She had rarely consumed alcohol before, but this brand seemed exceptional compared to the non-alcoholic wines she had tried.

"Well, why don’t you find out for yourself?" Scarlet led the way to the bar and took a seat. Aurora followed closely, sitting next to her.

"Scarlet! It’s been five years. You never came back!" The bar attendant recognized Scarlet and seemed happy to see her. Aurora wondered if Scarlet frequented the bar in the pack.

"I needed some time away from all of this, so I stayed away!" Scarlet replied, and Aurora could detect a hint of sadness in her eyes before she regained her composure.

"I am sorry you had to go through that. So, the usual for you?" The bar attendant sympathized and quickly shifted to a more cheerful mood.

"Yes, but..." Scarlet hesitated and glanced at Aurora, who looked back at her with confusion. The bar attendant understood what Scarlet meant and said, "There’s always a first time for everything. She will love it." He proceeded to mix various alcoholic shots and served them.

"Are you sure about this?" Aurora asked, eyeing the colorless liquid in her glass. She was aware that people reacted differently to alcohol, and she didn’t want to do something crazy under its influence. She had witnessed how alcohol could alter people’s behavior.

"I am here with you, you are safe!" Scarlet assured her and downed her own shot.

Trusting Scarlet’s words, Aurora downed her shot and found it a bit bitter compared to the wine she had earlier.

"This is the real deal, girl! Remember, tonight is for fun!" Scarlet encouraged her and started downing more shots.

Aurora knew she had nothing to lose, and she was here to have fun. Scarlet was right, she needed to let go of her worries for the night. She might not get the chance to have fun like this again.

Picking up another shot, she downed it and reached for another.

Suddenly, a clanging sound drew everyone’s attention. "Everyone! Attention!" A man who seemed to be the host stood on a balcony where the Alpha and other important figures were.

"Tonight is for our Alpha, our leader, our champion, Silver Damien!!" The host cheered, receiving loud shouts of agreement from the crowd.

"Let’s raise our glasses and toast to our Alpha. This party is for him, and we should honor him," the host declared, and they all cheered and lifted their glasses to Damien.

Damien stood beside the host, looking like he couldn’t wait to leave the party. Parties were never his thing, and he had no interest in anything happening there. Even the women in revealing outfits failed to catch his attention, they all looked lifeless to him.

Aurora spotted him and shook her head in disappointment. Despite their efforts to make him happy, he didn’t seem to care.

’Ungrateful man,’ she cursed inwardly and continued to drink her shots.

"Cheers," after they all raised their glasses to the Alpha, Aurora resumed her shots drinking.

Enoch approached Damien, urging him to loosen up and enjoy the party, "You should try to loosen up, you are not helping with such a mood."

"How many more seconds?" Impatiently, Damien asked, ignoring Enoch’s pleas.

"We only just got here ten minutes ago, are you not a bit moved by this wondrous party?" Enoch said, sweetening his words to encourage Damien but the latter remained impassive.

Giving up, he left his side.

"Do you know why I am sexy?" Scarlet asked, slurring her words as she appeared drunk.

Aurora, equally drunk, giggled and replied, "Because you are a woman?"

Scarlet nodded repeatedly, and they both burst into laughter.

A young man sat beside Aurora and asked for a shot from the bar attendant.

"One shot please?"

"Right away!" The bar attendant answered.

Aurora suddenly turned to him and asked, "Have you ever tried staring at the sun for a minute?" She smiled at him, and he looked uncomfortable with the question.

"No, why?" He asked cautiously.

"Because you are just like the sun, I can barely stare at you," Aurora replied, winking at him. Realizing she was drunk, the young man shook his head and looked away, not wanting to deal with a drunk person.

But Aurora grabbed his face and yelled, "How dare you ignore me?! I am the Alpha’s... hmmmmm." Before she could spill more, Scarlet quickly covered her mouth, preventing any further revelations.

Fortunately, Scarlet was experienced with alcohol and managed to hold it together, unlike Aurora, who was a first-timer. However, it was evident that Aurora was not handling the alcohol well. A few shots were enough to make her spill secrets.

If they weren’t careful, Aurora could end up venting out her frustrations thanks to the influence of the alcohol. If she knew Aurora couldn’t handle her liquor, she would have stopped her from drinking it. Anyway, they had already started, it was too late to regret.

"Sorry, she’s drunk," Scarlet apologized, diverting attention away from Aurora.

Enoch noticed a commotion downstairs and was surprised to see Aurora at the party, dressed casually and accompanied by Scarlet.

It seemed they came together. The thought of Damien seeing her there excited him, and he considered telling him to see if it would lift his spirits.

"Looks like she knows how to have fun after all."

"What the hell are you on about now?" Damien asked, already tired of being convinced by Enoch to enjoy the party.

"Hold on, is that Aurora?" Dave had already stood up to check what Enoch was yarning about. He was so surprised to see she was the fun type and said, "I am beginning to find her attractive." Damien’s mood turned sour hearing that Aurora was present at the party.

Standing up, he made his way to the pavement to confirm their words.

"Oh boy, it’s about to go down!"
