Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 47: The obvious disguise

Chapter 47: The obvious disguise

The night celebration arranged to welcome the Alpha arrived swiftly following its announcement. The entire town buzzed with excitement, and people were in high spirits. Aurora and Scarlet, after much contemplation and deliberation, had finally settled on their attire for the party.

They opted for a more tomboyish look to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. Scarlet managed to get them pants through her connections at the mansion from some male workers.

Aurora wore a white crop top and black pants. Initially, Scarlet chose a very short crop top, but Aurora preferred something less revealing, so they found a longer one instead.

Scarlet helped Aurora style her hair in a simple manner and applied light makeup to her face. Scarlet, on the other hand, wore a blue polo shirt and black pants, skipping the makeup as she didn’t like wearing it.

With their preparations complete, their main goal was to have non-stop fun throughout the night.

"Alright, let’s get going," said Scarlet, tossing the hair comb away and eagerly heading towards the door. However, Aurora hesitated, not wanting to leave the mansion with all eyes on them, especially Damien.

"Wait, we can only have fun if nobody has their eyes on us," Aurora said, indirectly referring to Damien.

Annoyed, Scarlet rolled her eyes and asked, "Fine, what’s the plan?"

"We have about fifteen minutes before the party starts, and Damien will probably arrive late. So, let’s wear our gowns as a disguise and use them to exit the mansion securely. If I run into him, he won’t suspect anything," Aurora explained, though Scarlet felt that Damien could still figure things out if he wanted to. Nevertheless, she agreed to ease Aurora’s worries.

"I won’t wear makeup, so it will be less suspicious. But how will you handle the fact that your face is beautifully adorned?" Scarlet asked, alluding to the possibility of Aurora being recognized.

Looking around the room, Aurora spotted a scarf and happily picked it up. She tied it around her head, using a part of it to cover her face.

Scarlet nodded in agreement, the scarf provided an effective disguise, and since it was already late, people were unlikely to pay too much attention.

"Let’s do this," Scarlet said, and they donned their disguise gowns.

After putting on their gowns, they turned off the lights and left the room. As they walked, they were stopped by Lily, a young lady working in the mansion.

"Scar!!" Lily exclaimed, approaching Scarlet, and then realizing it was her and Aurora.

"Hi, Lily!" Aurora greeted, waving at her.

Lily noticed their disguises and commented, "Why does it look like you are in disguise?"

Aurora widened her eyes at Lily’s sharp observation. Lily was known for being straightforward and blunt, and it was hard to hide anything from her.

"I told you not to call me that," Scarlet warned, giving Lily an annoyed look. She didn’t like being referred to as Scar, though it was a nickname derived from her name Scarlet.

"Oh, come on, it’s just a short form of your name. I didn’t mean any harm," Lily replied, playfully smacking Scarlet’s arm.

"Yeah, right. Have a good night," Scarlet responded, not interested in engaging in a conversation with Lily, and continued walking with Aurora.

Before they could leave the corridor, Lily stopped them again, grabbing Scarlet’s wrist. "Are you coming to the party?"

"No," Scarlet replied curtly, pulling her hand away from Lily’s grip, which upset the young lady. Scarlet didn’t have the patience to open up to someone as carefree as Lily.

"Don’t be so harsh on her. You know how straightforward she is," Aurora tried to pacify Scarlet. It would take time for Scarlet to warm up to someone like Lily, who was friendly but oblivious to the complexities of the world.

"She’s too carefree!" Scarlet grumbled, emphasizing her point.

"Sometimes you talk like you have gone through a lot," Aurora said, stating her observations concerning Scarlet’s unusual behaviors.

"Of course, my family sold me out to be a slave." Scarlet answered nonchalantly and scoffed, but Aurora was talking about something more painful than being betrayed by one’s family.

"I am not talking about your family’s betrayal. I am talking about something more....." cutting her off, Scarlet brushed it off, complaining, "You are ruining the mood, quit investigating. Sherlock!"

Aurora giggled and dropped the matter, not wanting to upset Scarlet further. They were here to have fun, after all. She was sure there was more to Scarlet’s past than meet’s eye. Whenever she brought up the matter of her personal life, she always seemed sensitive about it.

Did she also have a lover that betrayed her? Shaking her head, she realized how absurd she sounded.

She was using her past to judge other’s past. Scarlet was too smart and hardworking to be betrayed. Whatever man that married her would be lucky to have her. Of course, it would be good if the man was also her mate.

Until Scarlet was ready to open up, she wouldn’t pressure her further.

"Jackpot! We successfully snuck out of the mansion. Now let’s remove our disguises," they finally found their way out of the mansion and the mansion’s gate. Now, nothing could stop them from having their fun tonight.

"We took the entire fifteen minutes just to sneak out, the party must have already started," Aurora observed as they headed towards the party hall.

Upon arriving at the hall, Aurora was amazed since she had never attended an informal party before. Everyone was dressed casually, modern music filled the air, and the atmosphere was vibrant and energetic.

Almost everyone from the pack, except the children, was present. It felt more like a club party than a welcome party. Aurora couldn’t help but feel like she had wasted her childhood searching for her mate when such enjoyable events existed.

A waiter approached them with a tray of drinks, offering them drinks.

"Drinks for two pretty ladies?"

Aurora felt uncertain about alcohol, but seeing Scarlet already with a glass, she decided to join in.

"Oh my, the Alpha is right behind us!"
