Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 45: A bracelet
Chapter 45: A bracelet
Aurora returned to her room feeling overwhelmingly lonely and bored. She yearned for something to occupy her time within the mansion, but the fear of encountering the rude Alpha stopped her from venturing out.
Drawing closer to the window, she stretched her body and welcomed the warm sunlight with a smile. While enjoying the beautiful morning, she caught faint noises drifting in from outside the mansion.
Curious, she followed the sound and discovered some pack members singing while they worked. They seemed to be making extensive preparations for the welcome party they were organizing for the Alpha. But why was there so much to arrange for a simple night party?
Determined to find answers, Aurora rummaged through her wardrobe and found the clothing she usually wore while cooking in the mansion. An idea sparked in her mind, and she decided to disguise herself by wearing it, sneaking out of her room and making her way to where the pack members were working.
"Excuse me, can I ask why there are so many arrangements?" She politely inquired, tapping on a stranger’s shoulder.
"Are you stupid? It’s for the welcome party!" the man retorted with disbelief, giving Aurora a dismissive look. Everyone in the pack knew about the party, so her question seemed unnecessary.
Aurora wanted to explain that she already knew about the party but was merely curious about the extensive preparations. However, seeing the unfriendly gaze from the man, she decided to approach someone else.
"Hey, nice necklaces huh!" Aurora approached a woman seated on a bench, who was crafting necklaces. Complimenting her work, Aurora attempted to strike up a conversation.
"Thanks! You should get one for your partner," the woman suggested, offering to sell one to Aurora. However, Aurora declined the offer politely, not wanting to buy anything.
"Then leave!" the woman snapped angrily, upset that Aurora rejected her wares.
Aurora realized she needed to make a purchase to gain information. Thus, she ended up buying a bracelet instead of a necklace, intending to give it to Scarlet later.
"I bought this, so will you please answer my question?" Aurora asked, pouting her lips at the woman.
"Ask away," the woman, pleased that Aurora made a purchase, said.
"I know there’s a night party for the Alpha, but why are there so many things to prepare?" Aurora inquired.
"Really? Everyone will be attending the party, and planning such a large gathering for the entire pack takes a lot of effort!" the woman explained, surprising Aurora.
"The whole pack?" Aurora exclaimed in surprise. She had thought that only representatives from the pack would attend, not everyone.
"Of course! Barely ten percent of the pack knows what the Alpha looks like. They called it a welcome party to lure him in. He wouldn’t attend if he knew everyone was going to be present," the woman elaborated, shedding light on Aurora’s confusion.
Aurora felt delighted to learn that even those working in the mansion would be attending the party. This meant she could have fun and momentarily forget her worries.
Thanking the woman, Aurora headed back to the mansion, eager to share the news with Scarlet. It had been five years since they last attended a party together, and she couldn’t wait for the night’s festivities.
Lost in her thoughts of happiness, Aurora accidentally bumped into something hard and firm. Looking up, she met Damien’s cold glare, which felt as if it could pierce her soul. Embarrassed, she quickly apologized, "I am sorry, I didn’t see you coming."
Damien remained silent, and Aurora dared to meet his gaze, but she quickly looked away in embarrassment. It seemed he always caught her when she least expected it.
"Then you should get some glasses," he retorted harshly, as she had anticipated.
"Okay," she replied, trying to make a quick exit, but she ended up facing the wrong direction. Realizing she lost the bracelet, she looked around for it but found Damien holding it in his hand. He examined it with a disgusted look, which irritated Aurora. It was just a bracelet, after all.
"That’s mine, I will..." Aurora reached for the bracelet, but Damien evaded her touch, turning the situation into a game of catch.
"Ermm, Alpha, I would love my bracelet back," she asked, annoyed by his behavior.
"How do I know it’s yours?" Damien teased.
Aurora was taken aback. Was he playing with her? The bracelet clearly fell from her hand when they bumped into each other. Moreover, if she didn’t see him, how come he didn’t see her with his own two eyes? He must have intentionally bumped into her, she thought, angered by the realization.
"Obviously, it fell when we bumped into each other," she responded, unable to hide her annoyance.
"Are you calling your Alpha dumb?" he asked, teasingly.
"I dare not, after all, you are the ruler of this pack. I was only stating an obvious fact," she replied politely, though her anger was still evident in her tone.
"And I was merely asking a simple question, how do I know it’s yours?" he retorted, using her words against her.
"I bought it from the woman over there. If you still need clarification, we can confirm it with her," Aurora pointed towards the woman who had sold her the bracelet.
"We have to go," Enoch intervened, informing Damien of their impending departure.
"I see," Damien said, handing Aurora the bracelet back with a satisfied smirk. He then walked away, leaving Aurora to glare at his retreating figure before heading back to the mansion.
If it wasn’t for the urgent matter they had to assess, he would love to tease her more. He hadn’t seen her since she left the dining room with Theresa so he wondered if she was outside the mansion. And to his surprise, she snuck out of the mansion.
As she walked, she heard David calling her name. Stopping in her tracks, she turned to face him as he approached.
"Oh, I love that bracelet! Can I have it?" David admired the bracelet in her hands and asked if he could have it.
