Chapter 39: Mateless wolf

"What? Damien’s mother? I only just found out that Damien is her son. Would it be appropriate to ask her for help?" Aurora was hesitant about seeking help from the Alpha’s mother. She couldn’t believe that the bold woman who often set him up with other women was actually his mother.

Besides, only Scarlet and Damien knew about her being his breeder. If they told his mother, she might not accept Aurora and cause trouble for Damien. She was afraid of the potential consequences.

"Who cares? She likes me, so she will help you," Scarlet assured, but Aurora remained unconvinced.

"It’s only you and Damien who know about me being his breeder. We can’t tell her, she might not accept me, and it could cause trouble for Damien," Aurora reasoned, and Scarlet fell silent for a moment as she understood the issue.

But then a spark of an idea came into Scarlet’s eyes, "Who said anything about telling her? She doesn’t need to know who you are getting lessons for," she confidently proposed, making Aurora worry even more. She feared that whenever they made a plan, it tended to backfire, and this idea didn’t sound good.

Seeing Aurora’s reluctance, Scarlet placed her hands on her shoulders and looked into her eyes. "Relax and trust me. You want to get this over with quickly, right?" She asked, and Aurora nodded.

"Then calm down. But I have a condition for helping you with this plan," Scarlet said, requesting a favor.

"What is it?" Aurora asked.

"Don’t fall in love with Damien, no matter what. Promise me!" Scarlet raised her hand for a pinky promise, urging Aurora to do the same.

"I won’t fall in love with him, I have to leave the pack as soon as I can, so I promise," Aurora replied, hooking her pinky with Scarlet’s and sealing the deal.

Feeling reassured, Scarlet was determined to help Aurora overcome her intimacy nervousness so she could get pregnant as soon as possible.

"Then we will have to get a little naughty from now on. For now, rest well, and we will meet with Theresa tomorrow," Scarlet said, and with that, she left Aurora’s room.

Inside Damien’s room

Coming out of the bathroom, Damien chuckled, realizing that she had already escaped his den. He couldn’t resist teasing he, she was just too easy to tease whenever she was around.

Reflecting on why she came to his room, he wondered if she was worried about him.

’Little rabbit, you shouldn’t be worried about me. It’s dangerous to be concerned about a wild wolf,’ he thought as he grabbed a shirt from his wardrobe.

"Don’t you know the rule of knocking?" Enoch entered his room while he was dressing, irking him.

"If it might have been Dave, I would have knocked to avoid an unpleasant sight in his room," Enoch remarked, implying something. Damien knew he was hinting at Sarah being the right woman for him, but he didn’t bother paying much attention to it. Enoch seemed determined to find someone to tame Damien.

"What is it?" Damien picked up his tablet, sat comfortably on the bed, and asked.

"Weren’t you too extreme during training today?" Enoch inquired. He couldn’t witness the training because he had other commitments, but he had heard unfriendly reports. Rumors were spreading through the pack about how vigorously Damien trained the warriors.

"Extreme is what werewolves need. Do you expect me to engage in sword fighting with them?" Damien scoffed as he continued working on his tablet.

"What exactly are you trying to achieve?" Enoch was usually good at predicting Damien’s plans, but this time, he found it difficult to figure out his thoughts.

"It’s boring to go around fighting like hoodlums. I plan to have a formal party," Damien stated, confusing Enoch even more.

"A formal party?" Enoch repeated, not comprehending what he meant.

"You have been getting laid-back lately. Do you want to settle down with a woman?" Damien taunted, earning a silent glare from Enoch.

"I have a mate, but I don’t plan on settling down," Enoch replied, and a hint of regret appeared in his eyes as he thought of his mate.

"Oops, sorry. Did I go overboard?" Damien apologized insincerely, knowing how sensitive Enoch was about his mate.

"The older warriors are ready whenever you need them, and be gentle with the young warriors. They are not you," Enoch disclosed, urging him to be considerate.

"Well, they could be me if they want," Damien replied, and Enoch left the room, not wanting to hear any more of his playful remarks as the mention of his mate had already affected his mood.

After what happened five years ago, Enoch was left mateless, and there was nothing he could do to get his mate back. He lived like a werewolf without a mate because of the biggest mistake he made in his life.

If he hadn’t been so foolish as to make his mate second in his decisions, he would be a happy father with his son right now.

The past haunted him, and he often had nightmares at night. He tried everything to make things right, but it was too late. Things were ruined beyond measure.

In her room, Aurora was contemplating the discussion she had with Scarlet earlier. She wondered if seeking Theresa’s help was the right decision. On the other hand, Theresa was knowledgeable about intimacy advice, so maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

After all, she was trying to get pregnant for Damien’s sake. Theresa would have to accept the child, whether she liked it or not, as long as Damien wanted it.

’Relax, she’s only going to help you,’ she reassured herself as she prepared to take a refreshing bath.

After the bath, she changed into casual wear, letting her white hair down. Looking at herself in the mirror, she wished her parents had told her what she truly was before they died. She was certain she wasn’t a werewolf, but her hair was white, unlike human hair. Her parents had kept something from her, but what was it?

Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. "Come in," she granted permission.

"Miss Aurora, the Alpha requests your presence for dinner."
