Chapter 37: Let’s make baby
"Are you alright?!" Her partner’s voice filled with concern, he moved closer to her and gently supported her, helping her sit up in his arms. She was completely drained, on the verge of fainting if they didn’t stop fighting soon.
Thankfully, Damien hadn’t caused any visible harm, but his strikes had weakened her, leaving her powerless.
"I am sorry, let’s end this." Apologetically, the male warrior spoke up, realizing the mistake they had made. He stood up, ready to surrender, but his leg was held back by the female warrior, who seemed eager to convey something.
Bending down to her level, he listened as she whispered, "We can’t," before fainting.
"Lucy!" he called out her name, but she had already lost consciousness.
"The duel ends here for today, with no clear winner," Damien declared, observing the situation, and left the mountain.
"Hey, please take her to the pack hospital," one of the male warriors who still had some strength left stepped forward.
Lucy’s partner appeared worried and continued blaming himself for what had transpired, but everyone urged him to stop dwelling on sorrow and get some rest for tomorrow’s training.
He was left on the mountain after they failed to convince him that it wasn’t his fault. Eventually, he left the mountain and headed for the hospital to check up on Lucy.
Back at the mansion
Things had finally returned to normal. Aurora was awake and recovering well. Unsatisfied with her mere wakefulness, Scarlet insisted on having the pack doctor check up on Aurora.
Aurora allowed it, wanting to avoid being confined to her room all day. Scarlet even used Damien as leverage to convince Aurora to let her have the check-up, and it worked.
"Are you absolutely sure you are fine?" The pack doctor was astounded by Aurora’s healthy appearance. Earlier that morning, when he came to check on her, she showed no signs of waking up anytime soon. Now, she looked as if she had never been sick, leaving the pack doctor puzzled. How could her healing be so rapid?
"For the umpteenth time, I am fine!" Aurora’s frustration caused her to raise her voice slightly. Scarlet and the pack doctor had been hovering over her, causing her annoyance.
Why couldn’t they simply believe that she was okay?
"Then do you remember what happened at the scene of the accident?" The pack doctor inquired, which made Aurora frown.
"I... what happened?" For a moment, she couldn’t recall the events that followed the crash. She knew she had been involved in an accident, but what occurred afterward?
Standing up from the chair, she paced back and forth, attempting to remember what had happened after the collision.
"Ahh," a sudden pang of pain hit her, causing her to lose her balance momentarily. At that moment, she remembered something.
"He... he was injured!" She exclaimed, suddenly recalling that she had seen Damien bleeding before she blacked out. She also remembered him instructing Enoch to leave with her.
"Aurora!" Scarlet called after her but she was gone.
How could she have forgotten such a crucial memory? She searched for Damien around the mansion but couldn’t find him anywhere. It was afternoon, where could he have gone? She hadn’t seen him since she woke up. Could he be in his study?
Taking that as a clue, she entered his study but found it empty.
"Where could he be?" Annoyed, she muttered to herself and left his study to continue her search within the mansion.
As she passed by his bedroom, she hesitated before deciding to enter. Thoughts of what Damien might do to her if things went wrong in the room crossed her mind, naughty thoughts that she quickly brushed off. She stepped into the room, relieved not to find him there, yet disappointed that he wasn’t present either.
Looking around the room, she walked towards the window and gazed outside. There were no signs of him being outside the mansion either.
Sighing, she found herself captivated by the beautiful view from the window. She was tempted to enjoy the scenery for a while, even though she knew she should be searching for Damien.
Remembering the accident, she wondered what would have happened if she had died. Would Lucas and his mother continue their wicked deeds, ruining more lives for their selfish reasons?
The thought made her cringe with disgust. Even if she died, her ghost would haunt Lucas and his mother in their dreams.
’Just you wait, mummy and daddy, they will meet their end,’ she assured her deceased parents in her mind, smiling with unwavering determination.
Looking back, she realized she hadn’t truly planned her revenge for her parents’ deaths. She had intended to disguise herself as a maid within their pack, gradually poisoning them with untraceable and odorless substances. No one would be able to trace the poison back to her or frame her for it.
The fun was to see them wither away everyday until they had no drop of blood in them again. The poison she was planning on using was an untraceable and scentless one.
And if they were able to detect it, it would be too late as the mother and son duo would already be on their way to hell.
Either way, her plan would never fail no matter what happened. It was them or her, and she wasn’t going to let them get her again.
"Are we going to mate during the day as well?" Damien’s shameless voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts.
"Ahh, when did you get in?" she screamed, moving away in fear. He had startled her greatly. How does he always manage to enter without making any noise?
"Perhaps you were so deep in thought about me that you didn’t notice my presence," he teased, approaching her with the smirk she disliked. Observing him, she noticed he appeared rough, as if he had been running or involved in a fight.
"Step back," she warned, raising her hand towards him.
"I am in the mood, let’s make a baby now."
