Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 33: Life-threatening

Chapter 33: Life-threatening

"Aurora!" Faint cries of worry reached Aurora’s ears, but she lacked the strength to respond. Her eyelids fluttered as she struggled to breathe, losing consciousness inch by inch.

"Leave with her now!" Damien’s voice erupted, filled with urgency, though Aurora could barely discern her surroundings, she knew they were involved in a crash. Her head throbbed in pain as she tried to move.

"We can’t move without backup! What if there are more of them ahead?" Another voice, reminiscent of Enoch’s, interjected, sparking an apparent argument.

"She won’t survive until then. I can handle this. Go!" Aurora strained to move, but her body refused to obey, rendering her paralyzed.

"Motherfuckers, come at me!" Damien’s furious voice bellowed as he transformed into a magnificent white wolf, his eyes blazing with golden anger.

Enoch assisted Aurora onto his back, transforming into a sturdy brown wolf, smaller than Damien but still sizable. The last image Aurora captured before Enoch sprinted away was a dagger piercing through Damien’s wolf form, evoking a growl of pain.

"Damien!" she murmured, succumbing to the impending darkness.

"Well, well, if it isn’t the arrogant Alpha. What a delightful surprise," a man of short stature donning a blue suit stepped out of a car, his tone laced with mockery.

"If I had known you would give me such a warm welcome, I would have prepared a feast," Damien retorted, reverting to his human form. His left arm bled profusely from the dagger’s strike, an unusual sight unless the blade was laced with wolfsbane.

"Come now, this is more than sufficient. I wonder how delicious your left arm would taste," the man taunted, pointing at Damien’s bleeding limb.

"Hope you survive until then," Damien sneered in return.

"I want him alive!" Enraged by Damien’s words, the man ordered his minions to attack. He detested Damien’s refusal to submit, despite being a powerful Alpha himself.

The man believed Damien had betrayed him long ago, yet Damien had never offered an explanation, leading him to firmly believe that Damien was responsible for his past misfortune. The seething hatred he held for Damien amplified his desire to personally end his life.

As Damien transformed into his wolf form, he tore through the attacking minions with savage brutality. Only the boss and a lone minion remained standing. The boss, astounded by Damien’s newfound strength over the years, found it utterly unexpected.

He should have realized this was a trap set by his brother to eliminate him from the family. Aware of the deep animosity between him and Damien, his brother exploited it to draw him out.

Believing Damien had grown weak after leaving the pack to reside in a foreign country, he saw an opportunity to execute his long-awaited plan. Regrettably, Damien was far from weak, which further fueled his resentment.

"What are you waiting for? Get him!" the boss yelled at the trembling minion beside him, urging him to attack Damien. Fear gripped the minion as he hesitated, his gaze fixed upon the lifeless bodies of his fallen comrades.

"Let’s just run, boss," the minion suggested, taking hesitant steps backward while Damien closed in.

Damien howled and pounced on the boss, tossing the minion aside. He tore off the boss’s right ear before reverting to his human form.

"Ah, you bastard!" the boss cursed, clutching his bloodied, maimed ear.

"You can hurt me, but not my people. Consider this your warning, I won’t spare you next time," Damien sneered, leaving the boss writhing in pain.

"Alpha is back!" A warrior guarding the pack’s border mindlinked Enoch, informing him of Damien’s presence.

Enoch stood in the room assigned to Aurora as the pack doctor treated her wounds. The crash had affected her severely, resulting in life-threatening internal bleeding.

"How is she doing?" Enoch inquired, concerned about Damien’s reaction if he saw Aurora in such a state.

"While her life is no longer in danger, she has sustained significant injuries. There’s a possibility she might slip into a coma," the pack doctor replied helplessly, tending to her with utmost care.

Upon his initial examination, the pack doctor was taken aback to find a she-wolf so gravely wounded from a seemingly minor accident, until he realized she was human upon closer inspection.

"Ensure no one learns about this," Enoch cautioned, referring to Aurora’s non-wolf nature. He had always sensed something different about her, as she lacked the typical werewolf aura.

"Your wish is my command. I will return to check on..." The pack doctor’s sentence was cut short by the sudden swing of the door, revealing Damien, drenched in blood and seething with anger as he approached them.

"Alpha!" The pack doctor stood in stunned silence, witnessing Damien’s state. Curiosity stirred within him as he wondered what had transpired during their journey back to the mansion.

"Why is she still unconscious?!" Damien’s voice thundered, grabbing the pack doctor by the collar, demanding an answer.

"She lost a significant amount of blood, and her body couldn’t cope with the trauma. I have done everything I can. We can only hope she wakes soon," the pack doctor replied, cautious not to stumble over his words and enrage the Alpha.

"Find a way to wake her up, or your hope will mean nothing!" Damien shouted, flinging the pack doctor to the ground.

Enoch motioned for the doctor and his assistant to leave, locking the door behind them. Strangely, Damien was calm and didn’t seem like he was going to go on a rampage which relieved Enoch.

"You are still bleeding. Were you poisoned?" Enoch noticed the blood on Damien’s left arm, its scent distinct from that of the slain wolves.

"Wolfsbane, in small doses," Damien answered, his gaze fixed on Aurora as he moved closer to her bedside.

"Let’s get you treated first. The Elders have been informed, and they require your presence," Enoch urged, but Damien remained rooted to the spot, beside Aurora’s motionless form on the bed.

"You knew, didn’t you?" Damien asked Enoch.

"Wasn’t that the true reason you chose her?"
