Chapter 196: Aurora is Pregnant

"Huh huh, not now. She is asleep," holding her by her wrist, Damien carefully dragged her back, stopping her from leaving.

"Oh, then why are you here?" Snatching her wrist from his grip, she asked.

"I would like for this news to be known to only you and Enoch until I can end this war. We don’t want Lucas going after our child, and you are the only one I can trust with our child. So I would threaten the pack doctor and lock him in the pack house while you get instructions from him." He explained, confusing Scarlet.

"Hold up, ’you?’ Are you leaving for somewhere?" Noting the word ’you,’ in his sentence, she inquired wondering where he was going to be while she did all of those. He sounded like he wouldn’t be around.

"Someone has to end this war to protect this pack’s future. I am luring Lucas to his pack and I might not be back for some days, if not weeks." He answered.

"Aurora agreed to this?" Unbelievably, she asked.

"No," he firmly replied and for an unknown reason, Scarlet burst into laughter.

"What’s that for?" Not comfortable with the laugh, he asked.

"Oh I am sorry, I have just been having weird mood swings lately." Apologizing, she wiped off the streak of tears beside her eye and took a step forward.

"Since it has come to this, I will help you. But I am also pregnant and might need more care than she does so I advise that you tell Theresa. You can trust your mother," she suggested. She was not reclined in helping him, she was just being cautious.

She was three weeks pregnant, almost a month and it would be safer to not leave two pregnant women by themselves. Her constant mood swings of late are alarming, who knows what she could do while she is feeling indifferent?

"No, it is not about trust. I want no loopholes, Enoch would replace Theresa." He refused, causing Scarlet to widen her eyes in surprise. So he could trust her and couldn’t trust his mother? That was somewhat interesting but given Theresa’s desire for a child, she could mistakenly spill the news to her friends.

Thinking about it, it was best that Theresa was kept in the dark, after all, prevention was better than cure.

"I don’t want to see that coward, I will be fine on my own." She rejected having the company of Enoch but Damien could not afford to persuade her, so he threatened, "You had better let him see you or I won’t hesitate to punish you if harm comes to my child and mate."

"Sure sure, I wonder how Enoch feels about you wanting to kill his child." Rolling her eyes, she said and walked past him.

Opening the door, she sighed when she came to face Enoch and dragged him in.

"So your Alpha wants us to guide his pregnant mate and to do that, we have to cooperate. How do you say we make a deal?" She started, bringing her hand forward for a handshake, one that Enoch didn’t hesitate to accept.

"That was fast, anyway, I need to eat, get me something first, then we talk later." Removing her hand, she ordered and turned to face Damien.

"I need to rest now, leave with him, Alpha." Dramatically, she urged and Damien didn’t bother her further.

Enoch and Damien left the room together, and Enoch couldn’t help thanking Damien. He knew Damien intentionally requested for that and Scarlet was enough to take care of Aurora.

"That’s a congratulatory gift," Damien said and Enoch smiled.

At last, he would be close to Scarlet and their child again. Now that Damien had helped him with connecting back with Scarlet, he would do everything in his power to take care of both Aurora and Scarlet.

"Our plan takes effect tomorrow, get my things ready for departure." Putting aside personal matters, Damien brought up the current issue they were facing and ordered.

"I will escort you to a certain point," Enoch said and Damien halted in his strides.

"As much as I would like for you to die with me, someone has to protect my mate and that can only happen if Scarlet is safe." He reasoned.

"Will you be fine alone?" Enoch knew it was futile to argue with him, so he asked, worried about him.

"You should worry about your relationship instead," waving him off, Damien responded and started walking away.

Enoch watched as he disappeared into thin air and also took the other direction to run his errand.

Damien didn’t go back to his room where Aurora was sleeping and Aurora was grateful to be alone for a while. It had been hard to process her thoughts since Damien wouldn’t let her out of his sight for a second, but she didn’t resent him for that. If she was him, she would have probably overprotected her more than he was.

Looking down at her flat tummy, the fear of harm coming to their child weighed heavily on her. She had been awake when the doctor announced that she was pregnant, but she didn’t want to face Damien yet and pretended to be asleep.

Just when she thought she could be selfless and risk her life, her baby had to come at that time. She would never forgive herself if anything happened to her child and now she found herself contemplating the only choice she had.

’Let Damien lure Lucas away and probably die in the process.’

Sighing, she fell back to the bed and dropped her hands under her head, thinking of how to escape her harsh fate.

There was no guarantee that Damien would come back alive at the moment and the worst part was, she had higher chances of dying too. Both plans required a greater sacrifice, one that would either ruin the other or make them stronger.

"Why did you have to come now?" Staring down at her tummy, she asked her baby and bit her lips in frustration.

"Aurora?" Damien called, startling her.

Shrieking, she inched back on the bed and only sighed in relief when she saw Damien. Had she been so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t see him?

"When did you come in?" Getting out of bed, she asked.

"Just now," observing her, he answered.
