Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 186: Cranky Alpha
Chapter 186: Cranky Alpha
"It is now confirmed that Lucas’s men are in the pack, all we have to do now is protect the intercepts we have left." Bringing out a map, Enoch disclosed as he ran his hands across the important parts on the map.
Judging by the statement of the injured guard, Lucas’s men must have arrived a while ago so guarding the border was not possible. If his markings were correct, the first two intercepts on the map were no longer safe.
"I will get some men to survey the border lines, Damien should be there. Dave, stay in the pack house and watch after everyone." Giving out duties, Enoch ordered and went to pick up the hidden gun in Damien’s study room.
"What of that jerk?" Referring to Damien as the jerk, Dave asked.
"He is probably negotiating some terms he is not going to fulfill with Lucas at the border, I am going there because of that." Dropping the gun in his back pocket, he responded and started making his way for the door only to be stopped.
"You want me to guard the pack house alone?!" Shocked, he asked, hoping that Enoch was joking. He couldn’t even protect Charlotte, how was he going to protect the whole pack house members?
Also, Aurora was in the pack house, if anything happened to her, he was not sure Damien would spare him.
"You wanted war? Well, deal with it." Not caring, Enoch said and yanked him away.
"Enoch!! You motherfucker!!!" He yelled after Enoch, his eyes streaming with anger as he thought about how to protect the pack house.
Back at the border.
"What do you want Lucas?" Both Lucas and Damien stood facing each other, their men standing beside them as they readied themselves to attack if necessary.
"Now you want to talk? Unfortunately, I am not in the mood for that, I am here to fight." Gritting his teeth, he bared his fangs and threatened, his nails elongating.
"Don’t be stupid Lucas, you have never been able to defeat me once. Moreover, don’t you deem it unwise to leave your pack without its Alpha?"Damien said, trying to irk him so he could manipulate him.
"Nothing scares me, Damien, quit trying to influence my mind." Snarling, he warned and took a step forward.
"Are you sure you want to do this? Of course, I am always willing to entertain you," nonchalantly, Damien asked and spread his arms into the air as if he was not afraid to fight.
Damien could already see Lucas getting nervous and he knew his method was working. They once schooled together, and he knew Lucas’s ability unless the bastard worked on himself after all those years.
He would be a fool to think he would surrender Aurora, his woman, to a bastard like him. How dare he lust after his woman? He couldn’t wait to hear him apart once this stupid fight was over.
"I hope you are this boastful when I kill you, Damien," Acting courageously, Lucas retorted.
"As you wish," smirking, he mocked and turned his back to leave.
With utmost contempt, he watched as Damien made his way out of his men’s wing and held himself back from shooting him. He despised the fact that Damien never saw him as a threat and it was part of the reason he started the war.
How could he have what he rejected? It irked him to see him claiming his mate as his. He might have wronged Aurora but if Damien was in his shoes, he would have done worse. No one would be fine with being betrayed by their mates, he just happened to be unfortunate.
"What should we do, Alpha?" One of his men inquired, worried about Damien leaving the scene without taking them seriously.
"Who asked you to speak?" Angrily, he sneered at the werewolf and clenched his fists into hard balls.
"Pardon me, Alpha." The guard was quick to apologize and retreated.
"Is the spy back yet?" After a moment of resolution, he asked his beta, who responded with a head shake.
Abruptly, Lucas grabbed his Beta’s hair and fisted it into his hands forcefully, saying, "You lot are useless, you can’t even kidnap a woman." Then he yanked him away.
"I will do it myself then. Get ready to attack in an hour," he ordered and left his men.
"Why is he so cranky? It is not our fault he abandoned his mate," unable to hold in the annoyance anymore, one of the men said and few nodded in agreement with him.
If he needed to transfer aggression, it should be to his mother and his whore of a mate who deceived him. Why take it out on innocent men like them who barely even knew what happened 5 years ago?
"Watch the way you gossip about your Alpha or..." Lucas’s Beta started, only to be cut off.
"Or what? You will tattletale to your Alpha, huh?" Angry, the man disclosed and moved closer to Lucas’s beta with a confronting look.
"Like I said, watch it." Not sparing the angry man another look, he repeated and also left their side.
In all honesty, he could understand their plight and was on their side. But they already swore to protect their Alpha even when he was wrong, and they had no choice but to do so.
Whining or gossiping wouldn’t alleviate the matter as things had gone beyond repair, and Lucas was too arrogant to be persuaded. If they died, so be it, at least, they died as loyal servants which was an honorable death for lowlifes like them.
At this point, it was either they fought or died a miserable death. It would all lead to death anyway, but there was a higher chance of surviving if they fought.
Halting in front of Lucas’s tent, his Beta contemplated walking in to find out the next operation. Lucas was still in a bad mood and he wouldn’t want to fuel the burning anger.
"I hope you are fine," he whispered and finally left the front of the tent.
"Damien, what is wrong with him?" Sitting up, Aurora asked Scarlet with a worried look upon receiving information from Scarlet.
