Chapter 176: Atrocity

"What?" He repeated. There was so much animosity in her eyes that he couldn’t help feeling intimidated by her. Compared to five years ago, she had changed a lot, and didn’t seem to smile much like she did back then.

The Aurora he knew was someone who smiled at everyone despite the odds. Whenever he disappointed her, she would smile and say she understood him. Now that smile was gone, all that was left was hatred for him and he knew he deserved it, but he didn’t want to admit it. His ego was being bruised and he didn’t want to admit his errors.

Why was he concerned about her after all these years? Could it be that he loved her back then and hadn’t realized it sooner?

"Would you keep on sitting on the floor?" He asked, brushing off the aura she was giving him.

"It’s none of your business, I will take care of myself." Looking away from him, she answered.

"Just let me help you up," he didn’t listen to her and started moving close to her again which infuriated her. Irritated, she grabbed a handful of sand and threw it at his face, standing up in the process.

"Ahhh?" Groaning in pain, he wiped off the sand on his face and cursed under his breath.

"Don’t overestimate yourself, I wouldn’t hesitate to hurt you if you dare come close to me." She warned him and walked away.

"Lucas, Lucas, who did this to you?" Juliet had already appeared and was now tending to him, helping him out with the sand in his eyes.

While helping him out, she spotted the retreating back of the woman who was standing beside Alpha Damien earlier and frowned. She was starting to get more suspicious about Lucas’s relationship with her. If she was the one that hurled sand into his face, then she must be one of his mistresses.

How dare she try to hurt her husband? "Did she do this?" Unable to hold in the curiosity, she asked.

"Stop meddling in what is not of your concern," annoyed that she had been asking too much, he warned and pushed her away from him, then walked away.

"Why won’t you realize how much I love you?" Sitting on the ground, she muttered and started crying.

Following Aurora, he searched everywhere he could but he was unable to find her. As he was about to give up, he spotted the mansion some distance away and he suddenly felt the urge to check inside for her.

Following his instincts, he slowly walked up to the mansion, his steps wary as he watched out for guards who could question him. Wait, what was he watching out for? He was a guest in this mansion, he had every right to be in the mansion.

Entering it, he easily found his way to the kitchen as he already knew his way around, as per this visit not being his first. Though it had been years since he was here, he still knew how to maneuver his way around the mansion.

"Sir?" A maid passing by called, startling him.

"Yes, do you know of someone bearing Miss Aurora?" Not wanting to look suspicious, he quickly added respect to her name, and the maid’s knowing reaction confirmed that she was in the mansion.

"Yes, Luna is in her room. I can wait here and help you call her if you don’t mind?" The maid offered.

"No, can you show me the way to her room instead?" He asked, causing the maid to look at him suspiciously. Why would a grown man like him want to meet a betrothed lady in her room? The worst part of it was that she was the Luna of their pack. The Alpha was going to behead her if she took him to Luna’s room, so she decided to lie and just leave him alone.

"Alright Sir," smiling widely, she answered and was about to walk away, when her eyes landed upon two slender legs just a step away from her. Gazing up, she stumbled back when she came to face the Alpha. He looked like he was about to explode and she could already guess why.

"Alpha, it is not..." she started, wanting to explain herself but was dismissed with a hand wave.

"Alpha Damien, I am sorry for intruding. Your Luna happened to fall while running and I just wanted to check up on her to see if she was alright." Quickly stepping in, Lucas said, trying to fool Damien but Damien was having none of it.

"You could have done that later, you didn’t have to go to her room to check up on her." Calmly, Damien stated. Lucas knew Damien wasn’t a fool so he decided to admit his mistakes and look for Aurora later. He was going to find an excuse to stay in the pack for some time until he found time to talk to Aurora.

"You are right, forgive the foolishness of a worried man." He apologized.

"I wanted to see you, can we talk?" Going straight to the point, Damien relayed.

"Of course," Lucas answered and Damien started leading him towards his study room.

Getting there, they both sat on a chair opposite to each other, different thoughts swirling in both of their minds until Damien broke the silence.

"Alpha Lucas, as you know I am now back, I would like to be in collaboration with your pack. Do you mind extending your hand?" Damien requested.

Straightening his tie, Lucas sat up, suddenly interested in collaborating with Damien since it could get him closer to Aurora. For the first time, he appreciated Damien’s request. Who knew this Devil was already needing him?

"What are old friends for? I am very much interested in collaborating with your pack," Lucas said.

"I am glad you do, is it okay to stay in my pack for a few days?" Damien suggested.

"It is alright as long as I am well entertained," Lucas joked and Damien just smiled, thinking of what atrocity he must have committed to traumatize Aurora to such an extent.
