"Why does she look familiar?" Juliet, who was no longer annoyed at Lucas said, tilting her head to have a better view of the woman beside Damien. For an odd reason, the woman resembled someone she knew but she couldn’t pinpoint who she was.

Was she one of their pack’s acquaintances? Or one of those spoilt noble family daughters? The more she thought of it, the more confused she grew.

Wanting to ask Lucas about her, she turned to face him but shut her mouth when she saw the dazed look of her husband. Why was he looking at that woman like he knew her? She knew that look, it spoke of something different.

Tapping on his shoulder, she called, "Lucas, are you okay?" Questioning his state.

"Fucking let me go!!" Lucas yanked her hand away roughly, causing her to fall to the floor that attracted attention to them.

"Ahhh," squeaking in pain, Juliet dropped her hand on her belly, hoping her baby was fine. Realizing he had messed up, he ran his hands through his hair and walked out of the hall looking agitated.

Aurora noticed people’s attention on something in the room, and was about to gaze at it when Damien suddenly drew her closer to him. "You look stunning," he complimented her, taking her off guard. She didn’t expect him to compliment her, so she grew speechless, not knowing what to reply with.

"What happened to the original dress?" He asked, causing her to burp in shock.

"Ahh, I didn’t like it so I decided to wear this instead." She lied, smiling widely at him.

"Hmm," with an unconvinced look, he hummed and nodded his head in satisfaction.

"I prefer this also," he said and released her from his grip.

Facing the crowd, he entwined his hand with Aurora and dragged her along with him.

"I am sure everyone is shocked but this is my beautiful mate," he repeated himself.

"I am so happy for you Alpha Damien," a woman from the crowd said, smiling genuinely at Aurora and Damien.

Damien just nodded and smiled back.

"Enjoy the rest of the party, I will excuse myself now." Saying that, he walked out of the stage with Aurora still in his hands. Thinking they were leaving, Aurora sighed in relief, only to see him walking toward the impending crowd.

Anxious, she asked, "What are you doing?"

"What does it look like? Am I not allowed to introduce my mate?" He replied to her with a question.

"But you already did that up there," pointing at the stage they had just left, she informed him only to receive a shrug as an answer.

"Alpha Damien," lowly, she called, tugging at his hand. Why was he always getting on her nerves?

"Relax, it’s only normal that Luna greets her people, they won’t bite you." He joked, not taking her seriously which only irked her.

"What would you tell them if I leave in a month?" She asked, causing him to halt in his strides.

Turning his body to face her slightly, he said, "You might not leave, so it doesn’t matter." For some reason, she felt like he was hurt from hearing her say it, but she didn’t want to care.

"It matters since nothing is uncertain for now, I don’t want to take any step I can avoid." She reasoned.

"Why do you want to leave?" He asked her, and she grew speechless.

The atmosphere turned silent and none of them moved to talk, their gazes lingering on each other with unspoken words. Aurora was afraid he would convince her to stay if he knew her plan, and again, looking at it from another angle, he was capable of helping her avenge her parent’s death.

She just didn’t want to trust a man again after all that she had gone through. Damien was unpredictable, he might disappoint her when she didn’t expect it.

"Alpha Damien," luckily, someone came in between them, giving her the chance to loosen her hand from his, and run away from the hall.

"Aurora!" he called, ready to chase after her but was blocked by guests. Watching her leave, he cursed under his breath and tried mindlinking Enoch but there was no response. What if she ran into him?

Aurora kept on running, not looking back to see if he was calling her. She just wanted to run away from him, as far as possible, so she could gain her sanity back. She never seemed to be able to control herself both mentally and physically, whenever she was with him.

His gaze was so pleading that she wished to tell him everything, she wished to expose her vulnerable side to him. He was her mate and she couldn’t deny the bond anymore, but she could avoid being bonded, right?

"I hate this world," she muttered, tears streaming out of her eyes as she ran, even the tears wouldn’t stop coming.

"Ahh," bumping into something hard, she fell to the ground, prompting a scream from her.

"I am so..." she swallowed the rest of her words when her gaze landed on the man she hated the most in the world. He still looked the same, but he seemed like he was stressed judging by the wrinkles on his face.

"Are you okay?" Stretching out his hand to help her up, Lucas asked, moving closer to her which made her inch backward with a frightened look.

"Stay away from me!! What do you want?!" She warned, screaming at him as she crawled backward.

"I am not going to hurt you, I just want to help you up." With a pained look, he assured, moving closer to her but she didn’t believe his words and kept on moving away from him.

"I said stay away you murderer!! Stay away or I would scream for help!!" She threatened, tears still dripping out of her eyes.

"Aurora!" He called.

"Stay away!!! stay away!!!" She kept on yelling, shaking her head repeatedly to make him stay away from her.

Seeing how terrified she was of him, he took some steps back and only stared at her, noticing her red eyes that made him worry. Has she been crying before now? Who could have made her cry, was it Damien?

"Who made you cry?" Absent-mindedly, he asked, unable to hold in the anger boiling in him.

Surprised, Aurora scoffed and said, "Have you been taking acting classes?"
