Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 172: Nervous Damien

Chapter 172: Nervous Damien

Remembering that she had dismissed the maids from earlier, Aurora halted and exclaimed, "I dismissed the maids!" Relaying.

"Don’t worry, you have got me." Coming in, Scarlet folded her arms in front of her and boasted.

Chucking, Aurora playfully smacked her hand, causing them both to bust into laughter that warmed Theresa’s heart. Scarlet was such a good friend to Aurora, she hoped they wouldn’t be faced with an obstacle that would threaten to tear them apart. They were just so perfect for each other.

"Alright, I will leave you two alone now, I have some things to supervise." She said and excused herself.

"Theresa!" Aurora called after her before she could leave and ran up to her, leaning down to peck her cheeks.

"Thank you," she said and ran away, grabbing Scarlet along.

"That cutie!" Caught off guard, Theresa parted her mouth in shock, and smiled as she touched where she had just been pecked. She had such a wonderful daughter-in-law, and she was going to do everything in her power to protect her from now on.

Shaking her head and chuckling, she turned her body and walked away.

Inside Damien’s study room

"How many guests were invited?" Going through a file on his desk, he asked, passing another file to Enoch, who received it with a stressed look. Even on a day like this, he was still making him work his ass off, such a cruel Alpha.

"50 respective Alphas, 150 families from noble households, 200 from random families, and 300 from people in our pack." As he relayed those words, frustration was evident in his voice, and it only made Damien happy.

"Hmm, I see. How is the hall preparation going?" He asked, passing him another file that Enoch retrieved lifelessly. He couldn’t wait to leave this room, and he was never going to appear in Damien’s sight until the end of the day.

"For the umpteenth time, it’s all set." Boringly, Enoch replied. Damien kept on repeating the same question, and it made him wonder if he was nervous. It was unusual for Damien to stall for time, something he does whenever he wants to trap his enemies. But today was a joyous day, what enemy could they have?

Or was this about Aurora’s former mate, Alpha Lucas?

"Are you nervous because of him?" Unable to hold in the curiosity, Enoch asked.

Not expecting the question, Damien’s hand slipped, causing the biro to slide down the book, ruining what he was writing. Sighing, he threw away the biro and looked up to meet Enoch’s gaze.

"Should I be nervous?" He retorted, and though he tried to hide the nervousness, Enoch knew him well enough.

"It concerns her, why don’t you share it with her? A solution might arise if you both think about it?" Enoch suggested, wanting to help unburden him.

Damien’s affection toward Aurora was strong, and Enoch knew how much she affected his emotions. Even when he tried to avoid seeing her these days, he would secretly sneak up on her, just to make sure she was okay and not depressed.

Aurora didn’t seem like a weak person, especially compared to when she first arrived. She was broken and the only way they could work out was by communicating more.

"I never said I needed help, everything is fine." Not wanting to appear bothered, he said, dismissing Enoch with a hand gesture.

"Damien, I am advising you as a friend. Overlook your position for once and be a man for her, talk to her." Though he would have been happy to leave a few minutes ago, he felt like he needed to talk some sense into his friend before leaving.

"How? She is still traumatized, merely bringing up that man’s name makes her sad. How could I watch her go through pain?!" Yelling, Damien said, annoyed at himself for not finding out soon about who traumatized her.

"Alright, then let’s find out how she became a slave. Find out what truly happened between them, maybe it would help." Enoch further suggested and it made sense to Damien. He was planning on doing that initially, but with her frightened face whenever he mentioned Lucas’s name, he couldn’t bring himself to ask her.

"She might go into shock, we need to find another way." He said and Enoch nodded in understanding.

"Try to stall Lucas here for a few days," Enoch said.

"He is not that gullible," Damien pointed out, and Enoch nodded in understanding.

"We could use your marriage that’s coming in a month to stall him or a collaboration with his pack? Of course, after finding the truth, we could lie about finding a better pack to work with to dismiss him. That’s not an offense in a werewolf business, it’s power over skill." Enoch said and Damien finally agreed. That was a great plan, after all, it wasn’t an unusual thing to collaborate with other packs, either for power or wealth.

"That could work, map out any collaboration scheme. I would ask for his audience tomorrow morning, we can’t stress our guests, can we now?" Damien resumed his sarcastic act, causing Enoch to almost roll his eyes.

"Yeah sure, talk about being an ingrate." Enoch hinted, and picked up the ruined file, turning his back to leave.

"Thank you, Enoch, a gratitude from a friend," Damien said and it made Enoch smile, but he didn’t show, and just shrugged before walking out of the study room.

Damien chuckled and went to stand in front of the window, gazing out of it with a relaxed look. He couldn’t deny that Enoch had always been a good friend and a good beta, things got solved with him. For his and Scarlet’s happiness, he would have to let them go after their marriage.

Enoch deserved to be happy, so he wouldn’t stop him from leaving the pack. A good beta might be hard to find, but it was better than keeping an unhappy beta.

Feeling better, he shut down his computer and walked out of his study room, going back into his room to get dressed and welcome some important guests in the hall. The hall was just some steps away from the mansion, he could take his time to prepare himself.

He hoped to see Aurora, but he knew it was a bad idea, he would only be distracted and end up not welcoming the guests.
