Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 158: Clubs to women
Chapter 158: Clubs to women
Back at Damien’s Mansion
"What do you mean? Have you explored the pack thoroughly?" Damien, immersed in his daily work within his study room, sought clarification from Enoch regarding Louis’s whereabouts. Damien aimed to complete his remaining tasks before picking up Aurora for their visit to the phantom hills. Now, Enoch was conveying the troubling news of Louis’s absence.
Given Louis’s unfamiliarity with the pack, Damien speculated that he might have lost his way and spent the night outdoors. Damien wouldn’t be surprised if they discovered Louis sleeping outside, as he was accustomed to surviving alone.
"We have searchdd the pack three times, but there’s no trace of him," Enoch replied, deepening Damien’s frown. Could someone have taken advantage of Louis and harmed him?
But, aside from the mansion workers, no one knew about Louis’s presence in the pack. Damien pondered who might want to harm Louis.
"What about Chief Martin? Did he deliver the documents?" Damien inquired, recalling his anger towards Aurora the previous day, which had momentarily overshadowed everything else.
"He eloped," Enoch said, without an apologetic look, indicating that Chief Martin’s escape was intentional. Damien knew Enoch could be ruthless at times.
"How did you scare him?" Damien asked.
"I used your name, gave him a limited time to retrieve the documents, and he took the bait. We could use more wise men in this world," Enoch said nonchalantly, shaking his head as he produced a document.
"I knew we switched personalities," Damien teased, accepting the document to read its contents. The document detailed Chief Martin’s embezzlement and illegal activities. Enoch had already obtained the necessary documents, but he believed there was someone behind Chief Martin, urging a more thorough investigation.
Using Damien’s name, Enoch anticipated success since the rebels in the pack weren’t capable enough to face Damien. Chief Martin was likely with one of the rebels or their leader right now, making tracking them easier. Enoch trusted that his team would locate them soon, making sure of the need to keep Scarlet safe to avoid a recurrence of the past.
"You could be Alpha for a year? What do you think?" Impressed with Enoch’s normal skills, Damien suggested with a mischievous smile.
"No, thank you. I want to focus on my mate now," Enoch bluntly rejected the offer, prioritizing his time with Scarlet above all else.
"Hey, don’t go around with a woman’s scent while with my guards. I don’t want my reputation stained," Damien taunted, teasing Enoch about his distinctive scent. Damien had noticed it since their arrival but refrained from mentioning it earlier. Nonetheless, he found amusement in teasing his friend and looked forward to Enoch’s reaction.
"I could say the same about you, at least, I am not shameless," Enoch retorted, eliciting a laugh from Damien. He was aware that Enoch wouldn’t let him have the last word, he always had a comeback.
"Right. When are you heading to the hills?" Enoch inquired, referring to the phantom hills.
"I just need to freshen up, and then we can leave. The pack is in your hands, Alpha Enoch," Damien joked.
"Really funny. I will take my leave now." With a bored expression, Enoch responded, shaking his head.
"Wait, what about Louis?" Damien asked, becoming serious. They could continue teasing each other later, but if Enoch left now, Damien wouldn’t be able to investigate Louis’s disappearance until he returned.
"I forgot to mention, a guard said he saw Louis with Dave zooming off in Dave’s car. You can try calling Dave to confirm," Enoch disclosed.
"And you are just telling me now?!" Damien exclaimed, displeased with the idea of Louis and Dave being together. They didn’t seem friendly, and Damien couldn’t help but worry that Dave might have done something to him. He knew he shouldn’t have such negative thoughts about his brother, but Dave’s actions were often predictable.
"Well, I told you. Have a nice day, Alpha Damien," raising his brow, Enoch smirked, paying Damien back for all the teasing.
"I will be sure to get back to you," Damien said as he dialed Dave’s number, his thoughts consumed by concerns for Louis.
"You have to return safely to do that," Enoch remarked, exiting Damien’s room.
About to haul curses at Enoch, Dave picked up the phone.
"Yo, brother, missing Louis already?" In his usual playful tone, Dave asked.
"What have you done to him? Don’t you dare try anything stupid, Dave," skipping the greetings, Damien warned, confusing Dave. Why was Damien acting so protective after letting Louis go with him?
Was Damien losing his mind, or did he desperately want to be a father and was losing his senses? Whatever it was, Dave didn’t care, he had a mission to fulfill, and until then, Damien could go to hell.
"I badly need to bring back my mate. I will deal with your tantrums once I am successful," Dave said, leaving Damien frowning. What was he talking about?
"You have a mate?" Damien was shocked. Was Dave experimenting with women again, or was he drunk?
"Of course. I was going to tell you, but you were too busy," Dave replied.
"Have you been drinking?" Still not believing him, Damien asked and burst into laughter, finding his brother’s words absurd.
Irritated, Dave said, "Charlotte is my mate. We both found out the day you left for the witches’s world. She had to leave before your arrival, I could have tried to tell you."
"You are not kidding?" Damien asked.
"Of course, in fact, I am here to ask for her hand in marriage, but Alpha Nureo wouldn’t entrust her to me because of our past relationship." Saying that last part always left him hating himself, but he knew self-guilt wouldn’t help. He needed to man up and claim the woman he loved, as Louis had advised.
"True, Alpha Nureo made the best decision." As happy as he was for Dave, Damien was also concerned for him. Dave knew nothing about having a family. All his life, it was from clubs to women to parties, 24/7, he had extinguished the love in his heart.
