Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 156: Rise and Shine
Chapter 156: Rise and Shine
At the dining room, Alpha Nureo, Charlotte, Beta Madrid, a particular man and some Old-looking men were seated by the dining table.
"Alpha, your marriage can no longer be delayed. Time is of the essence," one of the Elders said, his gaze fierce and strict.
"I can’t find my mate," shrugging, he said, acting like he didn’t care about marriage or getting married.
"You are not getting younger. We need an heir to strengthen your dominance in the pack," the Elder said, focusing on Alpha Nureo.
Annoyed, Nureo slammed his fist against the table and asked, "Didn’t you hear what I said? I have no mate, how do I get married?"
"That’s exactly the job of the Elders. We would arrange a marriage for you like every other pack does for their mateless Alpha," the elder said, annoying Nureo more. Was this old man calling him mate less?
Even if he didn’t have a mate yet, he never wavered on his strength, and dedicated his whole life trying to balance the pack’s power. Why were they acting like having a mate was the only way for the pack to be more powerful?
"You dare insult me?" As someone who easily gets offended, Nureo flared up, his eyes depicted danger and it wouldn’t be good if they fought.
"Alpha, I dare not, I was only referring. Besides, a wife was arranged for Alpha Damien to get married to, he doesn’t have a mate yet." Quickly, the elders corrected, setting Damien as an example.
Charlotte’s ears shot up when she heard about Damien’s arranged wife, her thoughts wandering back to Sarah. The best friend that eventually turned out to be fake. She wondered what their fate was, as she had already left the pack before the return of Damien.
Dave! She missed him so much, how could she cope without seeing him for another month? Her brother was against the idea of her getting married to Dave, when she told him about it, hence her delay. She couldn’t return as planned and was now stuck here for a month.
He promised to let her go after a month, so she decided to endure it, for just a month. Her fear now was seeing Dave marry another woman, if she didn’t come back on time. Her communications were also restricted, she had no way to get through to him.
She was never going to forgive her brother if he married someone else, she already told Nureo that, using it to scare him. But he didn’t care and just dismissed her feelings like it meant nothing. Maybe, she should have threatened to kill herself instead, he might have taken her seriously then.
"Bro..." she was interrupted, her head turning to meet the biggest shock of her life.
"Trust me, arranging a wife is the worst idea. Alpha Damien has found his mate, and his arranged wife almost killed her." Without any worry in the world, Dave said his opinion on their plan, walking into the dining room with his hands in his pocket. Louis was trailing behind him, his eyes wandering around the room.
The more he delved deeper into the pack house, the more he was amazed. The interior decor was outstanding, he praised those who were behind it. He noticed there was a usual pattern used in decorating the pack house, and he suddenly had a liking for house decor.
He would ask Damien further about the career once they got back to their pack. Speaking of their pack, he hoped Damien wasn’t furious about his absence and tried to blame Dave.
"Dave!" Charlotte called out, her mouth parted in shock. What was he doing here?
Dave whirled his head to her side and there she was, bright as she always was. He could smell her, feel her, everything about her screamed amazing. He wanted to rush over to her side and hug her, he wanted to tell her how much he missed her, but he had to respect the people seated. Well, he didn’t care about respecting people but he was here to make a good impression, not a bad one.
"Milady, you look amazing." He complimented her, winking at her which made her blush.
"Dave, we have been expecting you. Please have your seat," Alpha Nureo said, and pointed his hand towards a seat beside him. Charlotte knew they were expecting a guest, but she would never expect it to be Dave, of all people.
And why was her brother acting like he truly respected Dave after bad mouthing him? Well, Alpha Damien was still the most powerful Alpha in the country, it wouldn’t be good to offend him.
"Thanks for waiting, Alpha Nureo," Dave bowed slightly and took his seat.
"Louis, come over here!" Beta Madrid called, signaling his hands to Louis. Louis nodded his head and went over to sit beside Madrid, smiling widely at him which caused Dave to shake his head.
For someone who acted tough, he sure does trust people easily. See him, all smiles. That boy had a lot to learn, and he would gladly be his tutor.
Charlotte couldn’t help wondering who Louis was, the boy looked young, around sixteen years of age if not less. Was the boy Dave’s son? Did Dave bring his son to announce that he wasn’t going to marry her again?
Her face turned sour and her bright expression was replaced with a frown, as she thought of many possibilities in her head. Had Dave been lying to her all this while, that bastard! Was her brother right about him?
Wait...was she overthinking? Why would Dave boldly bring his son here?
She turned to face him, her gaze cold as she stared daggers at him. She was going to kill him if all her theories turned out to be true.
As if sensing someone’s gaze on him, Dave met Charlotte’s gaze and almost choked on the air in his lungs. Geez, what was with that look?
Wanting to make sure that the disdainful gaze was for him, he tilted his head to the left, the look didn’t change, he tilted it to his right, and the look still didn’t change. He grew worried, this didn’t look good.
She was all rise and shine when he came in, what prompted the sudden mood?
