Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 147: A roller-coaster?

Chapter 147: A roller-coaster?

"By brother, you are talking about the Alpha, right?" Louis sought clarification from Enoch about whether he was referring to the Alpha.

"Of course, stupid. Who else would I refer to?" Enoch retorted.

"First, I am not stupid. Second, he is also your brother, you could as well do the honor," Louis corrected, eliciting a mocking laugh from Enoch.

"What the hell is making you laugh?" Dave didn’t appreciate Louis’s disrespect, considering the boy had been undermining him since his arrival. Was he being too lenient, allowing a youngster to show such disrespect? The beta, Enoch, worsened matters by laughing at the mockery.

Enoch knew he had wounded Dave’s ego, and it pleased him to see Dave affected.

"Listen, kiddo, you might be my brother’s favorite, but that doesn’t make you mine. Try to disrespect me again, and I will show you just how dangerous I can be," he warned, leaving Louis feeling intimidated for the first time. Though not as powerful as Damien, Louis exuded an aura that could make someone shiver, and he wasn’t going to overlook it.

Annoyed, Dave left the dining room, his appetite gone. Louis contemplated going after him but was halted by Damien, who said, "Just let him be, he will get over it."

Louis hesitated but chose to follow Damien’s advice, staying seated. He didn’t mean to be so rude, it was a survival mechanism in the world of witches. One had to be smart in order to live there, it wasn’t all smiles and roses there.

Dave, however, was too carefree for Louis’s comfort. Most witches ignored him, considering him useless because of his age. Having someone treat him like an old friend felt strange and uncomfortable. Louis sighed, feeling helpless, and resolved to apologize to Dave later.

Just as Damien was about to search for Aurora, she descended the stairs, looking graceful in casual wear. Despite the simplicity of her crop top and jeans, she was incredibly alluring to Damien. Her scent was different, a hint of rose replacing her usual soap.

As Aurora approached the table, an awkward silence filled the dining room. Damien, seated in the middle, right to her left, mentioned, "I was going to come get you."

"Thanks for your concern, Alpha," she replied politely, acknowledging everyone at the table.

"Now that our Luna is here, we can start eating," Damien signaled for the maids to serve.

Aurora was taken aback. They weren’t eating because of her? Damien seemed to be attempting to make her feel guilty so she would arrive earlier next time.

This malicious man! Sending apologetic looks to everyone, she silently mouthed sorry. Theresa responded with a reassuring smile, blinking her eyes in a comforting manner.

Theresa didn’t mind whatever rule her son enforced as long as it didn’t adversely affect the pack. Waiting a few minutes wouldn’t harm anyone, it was acceptable. She understood that Damien was attempting to help Aurora establish herself within the pack. If they respected her, nobody would dare conspire against her. Fear was more effective than admiration.

"Luna, your people waited for your arrival. I hope you don’t underestimate their patience and make it up to them next time," Damien began, making it challenging for her. So, this was payback for her politeness? 1-1, let the game begin.

"Of course, Alpha. After all, a Luna must consider her people’s feelings if the Alpha is too occupied for that," she replied, turning the tables on him. If he enjoyed embarrassing her, then he should relish being humiliated too.

"That’s why I am trying to nurture you into a perfect Luna," he retorted, earning a snort from Louis. Furious, Aurora decided to score a point, "Thanks for sharing your little knowledge, I appreciate your concern."

Louis couldn’t contain his laughter, so he covered his mouth to avoid disrupting everyone. What were they doing, exchanging words in front of everyone? An undisciplined Alpha and Luna, made for each other.

Louis started eating when his plate was served, relishing the delicious taste. He didn’t know what they were, but they were delightful. His stomach felt alive after seventeen years of hardship. He wondered if things would have been different if his parents hadn’t abandoned him.

No, he didn’t miss them or care about them. Telling himself that, he gulped down a cup of water, trying to push them out of his mind. Thankfully, all eyes were on Damien and Aurora, so no one noticed him, and he appreciated it.

"You admitting I have a little knowledge compared to yours is already deserving of gratitude," he mocked, earning a frown from Theresa. She feared Aurora would be hurt by his words and was about to comfort her when Aurora said, "I am sure the pack members would agree, knowledgeable Alpha is it?"

Damien couldn’t take it anymore.

"Could you not back down?" Aurora seemed strangely different today, sharp-witted, with a sharp mind and a bold stance. Seriously, what was with her today?

"No, I learned from the best," she answered, referring to him.

"He must be so skilled if you learned from him," Damien praised himself, fully aware that she was talking about him.

"Unfortunately, he lost his glory a minute ago," she responded, turning to focus on her food.

Enoch quietly ate his food, choosing not to interfere in their matters as he had other things to do. Anyone attempting to stop them might end up taking the blow, as they weren’t truly engaged in a fight. There was always wisdom in not getting involved in a couple’s matters.

Initially willing to get involved, Theresa realized their words held no hint of hate, they were merely bantering like Enoch and Dave always did. It was a relief to see them getting along well.

"Elder Bassey, I plan on organizing an event for kids here in the mansion. Can you help gather children around the age of 5-10 years?" Theresa addressed one of the Elders, diverting her attention from the two lovers.

"That wouldn’t be a problem, but I need to know the details of the event to convince their parents," he replied, setting aside his spoon to gather more information.

"Now that Luna’s wedding is approaching, I want her to familiarize herself with the pack members. Kids are easy to get acquainted with, unlike adults, so we would start from there," Theresa disclosed, earning a satisfied nod from Enoch.

"That’s a good idea. I will gather the kids. When do you plan to start the event?" Elder Bassey inquired.

"Anytime from tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," she replied.

"I would suggest you start it after the banquet. The mansion is currently busy preparing for the banquet, and we can’t afford to cater to kids right now," Enoch advised, understanding the challenges of taking care of children.

"I agree," Damien said, meeting his mother’s gaze for the first time in a month.

They exchanged looks, both unsure of what to say. Damien looked away when it became difficult to talk and turned to Enoch, "Assist her as much as possible, I love the idea," he commanded.

"Okay, Alpha," Enoch replied.

"Thank you," she said, but Damien didn’t meet her gaze, only nodding in response.

Aurora sensed the tension between them and pondered how she could help ease it. She was the cause of their estrangement, and she felt compelled to do something to bring them together. Damien had never been fond of his mother, so their lack of reconciliation wasn’t entirely surprising.

Sometimes she wondered if Theresa truly gave birth to him, they were nothing alike, both in attitude and appearance. Could Damien have inherited his traits from his father?

"Alpha, concerning the banquet order of the program, we have yet to receive one," Elder Bassey said.

"I will leave that to you to decide. I am only introducing my Luna and announcing my return. You can choose the rest of the programs," Damien replied, unconcerned about the other details. He knew they were eager to host more programs, and he wouldn’t hinder them, but his interest was limited.

"Thanks, Alpha," Elder Bassey expressed his gratitude, and they all resumed eating.

"What’s a banquet?" Absentmindedly, Louis asked.

"A celebratory event, usually held late in the day. It’s always enjoyable," Theresa answered.

"There will be lots of food?" He asked, prompting some laughter from the group. It seemed he only cared about food since his arrival, making them wonder about the roughness of his life before the mansion.

"There are many varieties of food, it’s like a roller-coaster." Theresa answered, and his face lit up. He wouldn’t miss the event for anything, he would get to eat plenty of food there.

What is a roller-coaster? He wondered, but didn’t want to appear uncomfortable by asking unnecessary questions.

"Just stay away from the alcoholic drinks," Damien warned him.

"They taste bitter, I wouldn’t go near them." Scrunching his face, he expressed displeasure toward alcoholic drinks and shook his head. Dark witches loved alcohol, they used it for potions and drank it. He was familiar with that, but would it taste the same here?

"Not all, but stay away from them," Damien advised, as if sensing his thoughts.
