Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 140: Another Rejection

Chapter 140: Another Rejection

"Can I come in?" He asked when she didn’t move for him to enter. Aurora was imagining rubbish that she forgot herself in front of him.

"Ahh, yes." She answered, moving away for him to enter, then Damien shut the door after him.

"Were you able to rest?" He asked, his eyes darting over her body.

"No," she answered.

"I want us to talk," he started and her heart began beating fast, her thoughts wandering to what she dreaded the most, talking about being mates.

"I...okay," stammering, she said, clutching her gown in fear.

"We are mates,"

And there was it, the reality she had been avoiding. He just mentioned that they were mates, and instead of being happy to have found her mate like every other person, she was scared, sad, and worried.

Damien noticed how she wasn’t surprised and he frowned. She knew?!

"Why didn’t you ask me?" He questioned, his gaze turning cold. Did she hate him to the extent that she didn’t want to acknowledge their bond?

"Mate? I have no such thing," she said, denying the spark she felt between her and Damien, even though it was glaring. Her heart warmed at his voice, her face warmed at his touch. He already shattered her resolve, but she vowed not to be weak again.

Yet, how could she deny not feeling anything for him when he had such effects on her? But she was afraid, terrified of being betrayed by her mate again!

There were rare cases of having two mates, why did the moon goddess bestow such a fate upon her?

"You can’t deny it forever, and I have no intention of letting you go," he said, his eyes filled with anger, seeing how she was so disgusted about the idea of having him as her mate.

"I have nothing to offer you." She tried convincing him to snap him out of the trance he was in. Only if she knew he was in his right mind.

"I only need my mate," saying that he took heavy strides toward the door and slammed it shut after him.

Aurora fell to the floor when he left and started sobbing, her heart aching from being in pain. She wondered if the pain would ever stop.

She was being cruel by rejecting her mate just like Lucas rejected her. Even if they weren’t mates, he was in love with him and could only tell herself that inwardly.

It was almost time to prepare the tea so she went to rinse her face, wiping off traces of tears and went into the kitchen.

"Are you okay, my lady?" The maids noticed her eyes were swollen and became curious. She was their future Luna, they had to show concern even if it was none of their business.

"Yes, I am?" She answered, wondering why they were asking her that, until one of the maids pointed at her swollen eyes, "It’s swollen."

Aurora gulped, her heart racing when she heard that. She had to serve Damien tea, and she wouldn’t like him to see her in this state. He could get angry at her for Selena knows why.

"Is it that bad?" She asked.

"Very bad," the maid replied and she screamed.

"Help me arrange the cups, I will be back. Saying that, she ran out of the kitchen and went to look for Scarlet, the only person capable of providing a solution but not without nagging her first. Well, there was always a way out.

Rushing into her room, Aurora screamed when her eyes came in contact with something inappropriate. What were they doing in broad daylight?

"Ahhh,!" Scarlet screamed, shocked to find Aurora in her room in such an uncomfortable scene. Didn’t Enoch lock the door after entering?

"Urghh, shameless." Shaking her head, Aurora mocked, turning her back away from the scene.

Glaring at Enoch, Scarlet pushed him off, straightening her now rumpled clothes to meet Aurora.

"Unfortunately, I need your help so I might not be able to excuse myself. I hope you do not mind, beta?" With her body still facing away, she asked, teasing them in between.

Clearing his throat, Enoch answered, "I was just discussing with her, I was already taking my leave." He picked up his shirt and ran out half-naked, running away like he was being chased.

Once he left, Aurora shut the door after him and busted into laughter, annoying Scarlet in the process.

"This is not your room, you should start knocking from now on." Scarlet scolded, glaring at her.

"This was once my room. Moreover, you never knock when you come looking for me. It’s not fair if I knock," she said, making Scarlet speechless.

Sighing, she gave up on arguing and went to stand by the mirror, brushing her now scattered hair. Her face was a mess and it was an indication that she had been indulged in something intimate.

"You know, for a bull, you sure are naughty." Aurora teased, going to stand at her back to help with her gown.

"I would enjoy teasing you too, your mate is more shameless," Scarlet retorted, flashing Aurora a mischievous smile through the window.

Noticing something, Scarlet dropped the hairbrush and turned to face Aurora. Her eyes were swollen and she looked like she had been crying. Oh, Selena, she thought this was over?

"It’s not him but me, I denied our bond. He was hurt, angry, and furious, I felt it." Playing with her fingers, she disclosed, feeling bad for what she had done.

"Like I said, your decision is my decision. I just hope you are making the right one," Scarlet said and walked away. She came back with sunshades and gave it to Aurora to wear.

"I know you well enough and I know your desire is far from your perspective," Scarlet said, smiling at her.

For the first time, Aurora wished to be nagged, she wanted to be scolded and told she wasn’t taking the right path to help her decide well. Rejecting one’s mate was the biggest mistake one could ever make, but she was risking it all.

What would her parents have wanted if they were still alive? It was selfish not to avenge her parent’s death after they died for her, right? They were more important than a stupid desire she had?

"Right, you have his heart now, you could as well get his sword," Scarlet said, hinting at something that Aurora didn’t seem to grab. What did Scarlet mean by that?

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"They are both Alphas, work would involve them both eventually. Why not kill two birds with one stone?" Scarlet kept on using proverbs to talk, but Aurora finally understood what she meant and widened her eyes at the realization. Scarlet was advising her to use Damien’s affection for her, to get her revenge.

That was cruel and malicious, she would never do that.

"No way, I wouldn’t hurt him." She disagreed, shaking her head in disapproval.

"But you don’t love him either? There’s always a choice, make things easy by choosing whatever suits you. This is the only safest and guaranteed way to get what you desire the most." Scarlet advised, and it dawned on her that she was right. She was starting to doubt her feelings for Damien. Does she truly love him or was she merely infatuated?

She hated herself for having so much to worry about, why couldn’t things be easy for her?

"Aurora, at the end, you have the final say. You can either choose love, or choose love and revenge."

Aurora spent the rest of her time in the kitchen thinking and preparing tea for the meeting. It was close to 2 pm and she wasn’t ready to face Damien. She couldn’t break down in front of everyone, she had to be cool. She told herself but she could already feel her heart racing.

"Can you help me serve? I am feeling unwell?" Facing one of the maids in the kitchen, she asked.

"I wish I could but I have only one life," the maid jokingly rejected the offer, not wanting to die young.

If it wasn’t Aurora serving the tea, he wasn’t going to drink it, and they couldn’t stand his temper. He vented for no reason and it wouldn’t be good if they were his victims.

Sighing, Aurora stared at the tea, wishing for a savior to serve the tea. How was she going to face Damien after what she did?

"Miss Aurora, the Alpha has called for you," a maid entered, delivering the message and left. It was already past 2 pm so they must have been engaged in a serious discussion, he might not look her way.

Inside Damien’s study.

"Alpha, the recruited warriors are declining in strength, I suggest we hire a capable warrior." one of the elders suggested and Dave agreed with the idea. He never liked seeing Evelyn’s face anyway, this was going to help get rid of her for him.

It was time he focused on Charlotte and let go of anything that had to do with the past. If not for his brother who was strictly working, he would have found a way to eliminate her.
