Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 139: Loyal to Damien.
Chapter 139: Loyal to Damien.
"Alright, we will be having our first meeting in my study room by two in the afternoon. I detest lateness," speaking like the true Alpha he was, Damien commanded, his aura completely different from when he was being playful.
Louis could feel the tension in the room and he dropped his spoon, finding it irresponsible to continue eating while the Alpha gave orders. He might have lived with disgusting beings, but he knew the right from wrong.
"Aurora, let the tea be prepared in accordance. Mother, send me more files today," facing Aurora and his mother, he instructed, wiping off his mouth for stains even though a speck wasn’t visible.
Theresa and Aurora both nodded in response, giving him the respect he deserved like a respectable Alpha.
"Beta, follow me." He ordered, then stood up to leave. Louis couldn’t help swallowing the anxiety he had been holding, when Damien left. Where did all that come from? Was he still the same Damien he knew or does he have a twin?
"There he goes again, serious for no one’s liking," whining, Dave said and rolled his eyes, annoyed about his brother’s usual self.
Shaking his head, Louis picked up his spoon and continued eating the delicious delicacy in front of him. He craved for more but he was shy to ask for more, glancing at the maids from time to time.
As if sensing his trouble, Theresa poured more food on his plate and smiled at him. He had never been so happy to receive help from a mother figure, as those dark witches didn’t deserve to be called mothers.
"Eat more, you can always ask for more. Don’t be shy," assuring him, she said and waved her hand at one of the maids.
"Take care of him, and do not hesitate to get whatever he wants." She instructed and also left the dining room.
Soon, the Elders also left and it was Dave, Aurora and Louis in the dining room.
"So, how did you meet that jerk?" Facing Louis, Dave asked. He had been itching to question Louis, but didn’t want to be punished in the process, so he kept his curiosity.
Now that Damien was gone, it was time to properly investigate this boy called Louis.
"Well, I blackmailed him." He replied, shrugging his shoulders like it was a normal thing. Well, in the dark witches’ world, it was as if living there equals Survival Of The Fittest.
"Blackmail? Damien?" Dave busted into laughter, finding his reply absurd. If a witch was unable to blackmail his brother, why would a young boy have the chance to do that?
Unwilling to prove he was telling the truth, Louis just focused on what he was eating and didn’t say more.
When the boy didn’t laugh or change his expression, Dave stopped laughing and was beginning to believe him. Could it be true? What in the hell was going on?
"How?" He asked.
"He needed to get to the amazing sisters and I was good at teleporting so I bargained with something in return." He explained, making sure to conceal what he bargained for.
"What’s that?" Dave couldn’t help asking.
"A deal between two partners should not be shared with outsiders, I can’t disclose that. You could ask him," Louis answered.
Dave found his reply annoying but he knew the boy was right, it was useless pestering him.
"Alright, I would leave you two alone." Not finding the boy useful anymore, he said, excusing himself to go find Enoch. Unless he wasn’t interested in knowing, Enoch could never hide something from him. He had his way around him despite always bantering at each other.
Aurora just smiled at him and he left them behind.
Now that it was remaining the both of them, Louis suddenly grew shy and kept his gaze glued on his plate, not wanting to meet her gaze, knowingly or accidentally. Aurora noticed this and chuckled, finding the action cute and funny.
She noticed he didn’t like making eye contact with women, and it made him look cute. But something told her there was a history behind not wanting to look at women directly.
Was his mother a fearful person or did he have terrible sisters who maltreated him? She wished to convince herself it was a natural act, but it didn’t seem like it. If it was natural, he wouldn’t try avoiding the gaze but look away instead.
"Do you need anything?" She asked, wanting to confirm her theory. And just as she guessed, he only brought his gaze up to her chest and answered, "No, I am alright."
"Can I ask what happened at the dark witches’ place?" She said, trying her luck to see if he would talk.
"Did you ask Damien?" He asked.
"He wouldn’t tell," she was being honest, and that even discouraged him from telling her anything. If Damien wasn’t saying anything then he had his reasons, he had no right to interfere.
"I am sorry, I can’t go against his want." He apologized and she hummed a reply.
"You can always come for me if you need my help," she stood up and left the dining room.
Telling himself he was doing the right thing, he avoided gazing at her and pinched his cheeks instead. He couldn’t afford offending a future Luna, he needed to play wise.
As she walked back to her room, she couldn’t help thinking about what he used in blackmailing Damien. She found it unbelievable, knowing the type of man Damien was, it sounded impossible.
She was yet to know why they went to the witches’ world but after placing one or two together, she suspected she died and Damien had to revive her life with a price. A price she was yet to know of, and was dying of curiosity.
What if Damien paid a huge price? What if the price was something she would never be able to repay? She felt lost and hopeless thinking of a solution to clear her new debt.
He had openly declared his intention to make her his Luna, yet she skillfully avoided discussing the topic of mates. Only Selena knew how long she could defer the inevitable truth. Damien, however, showed no inclination to prolong the matter, having resumed his pack duties.
Scarlet overheard the new maids conversing about marriage, and anxiety crept in as she feared the discussion centered around her impending marriage. If not her, whose else could it possibly be?
"It’s my marriage!" Scarlet was now in Aurora’s room, both of them engaged in a conversation that shedded light on the whispers of marriage. Aurora, dumbfounded, had her mouth agape, processing the news that Scarlet was getting married. Had things progressed rapidly between her and Enoch?
"Don’t be too shocked, it’s just for formalities to avoid unnecessary rumors. We were already married before, we got separated because of our daughter’s demise," Scarlet finally disclosed, anticipating a shocked reaction from Aurora. However, the latter remained passive, displaying no surprise.
"Oh, I know that much. I was so curious and couldn’t help asking Damien," Aurora confessed, awkwardly laughing.
"I understand. It was just so hard to tell you, so I couldn’t bring myself to," Scarlet admitted.
"It’s fine. No one would be happy to share such things publicly. I am sorry for your loss, but this is a chance to start another family. Who knows, Selena might bless you with twins," Aurora said, offering encouragement and holding Scarlet’s hands.
After learning Scarlet’s secret, Aurora couldn’t get angry because of the gravity of the situation. Losing a child was unimaginable, and Scarlet’s strength in enduring the harsh world without resorting to suicide impressed her. Now understanding the reason for Scarlet’s hostility toward Damien, Aurora felt empathy rather than resentment.
"So, what day did you choose?" Aurora inquired.
"In a month. There’s still a lot to do in the mansion, so we are planning to take a break after things settle," Scarlet disclosed, receiving a nod of acknowledgment from Aurora. It sounded like a sensible plan, and she was certain Damien wouldn’t oppose to it.
"Now, now, enough about me. Let’s walk around the garden for a while. You have five hours left before you start serving tea," Scarlet suggested, and both women burst into laughter.
As they strolled through the garden, they shared their experiences with their respective partners. Scarlet described Enoch’s affectionate gestures and his sincere attentiveness. She also recounted his confession, sparking a peculiar desire in Aurora.
Having never received a genuine confession before, Aurora thought back to Lucas, whose love came naturally due to their mate bond. Damien, however, expressed himself differently, openly sharing his feelings, even if they delved into the realm of naughtiness.
She chuckled, recalling his offer to massage her back two days earlier, a tempting proposition she wisely avoided, mindful of potential repercussions.
Upon returning to her room, Aurora contemplated a brief nap when a knock interrupted her thoughts. Groaning in frustration, she opened the door, revealing Damien on the other side.
