Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 136: What to know how
Chapter 136: What to know how
Back in Enoch’s room, Scarlet was done freshening up and she looked better than before. Food was brought in for her, but she could only manage to eat the grape among the varieties that were bought in for her.
At least, that was going to sustain her for a while. She could resume her normal way of eating once they got back to the mansion.
Once she was done eating, she went to lay on the bed beside Enoch, and started stroking his hair gently, hoping he would wake up.
"Just come back, I am feeling suffocated," she whispered, leaning closer to him for comfort. Even while he was asleep, she felt comforted in his presence. How much she longed for him, her mate.
Unknowingly, she soon slept off, curling herself up on Enoch, totally forgetting that he was a patient.
"Scarlet!" In her dream, a faint voice called to her, the voice, sounding like it was compelling her instead.
"Scarlet!" Then she jolted up, gasping for breath. Looking around her, the doctor was looming over her, worry written all over his face.
"You look pale, come let me check your pulse." Grabbing her by her wrist, that made her uncomfortable, he walked her to the desk and made her sit on the chair in front of it.
For some reason, Scarlet felt like the doctor was being too friendly with her despite not knowing her. She didn’t trust him but as long as he was still treating Enoch, she had no choice but to be nice to him. Moreover, he wouldn’t dare try something stupid, considering he was too old to have immense powers.
"Did you eat something?" He asked, pressing two fingers on her wrist to feel her pulse.
"I tried eating grapes," she answered, exhaling calmly.
"That’s progress, if fruits work for your appetite then don’t stop eating them." He advised, dropping his hand on her forehead to check her temperature. Scarlet flinched back at the touch, feeling uncomfortable with his touch. His touch felt so...foreign, and something in her screamed at her to run away from this doctor.
"Alright," she replied and met his gaze, unable to avert it. He had deary brown eyes that she was only taking note of, he wasn’t too young nor old, but he should be in his thirties.
"You are beautiful," compelling her, he said, still holding her gaze and smiling warmly at her. As if she had been entrapped, Scarlet returned the smile and blushed. She felt like holding his face, so she moved her hands up to touch him but before she could reach it, the doctor was suddenly yanked away.
Gasping, she breathed and fell to the floor. Scarlet looked around her surroundings, wondering how she got to the floor, when she was only just getting checked by the doctor.
The doctor?!
"How dare you?!" A familiar voice thundered in the room, causing everything to fall in the room. Looking up, Enoch was standing over her, his eyes burning in fury, like he was going to tear the whole place apart.
Scarlet quickly rose and went to hug him, sobbing gently in his arms that calmed him.
"I am sorry," she apologized, tightening her grip on him.
Enoch hugged her back and dropped his nose in her ear, inhaling the comforting scent of his mate. He had bad dreams, dreams that threatened to separate him from her, only to wake up and find a disgusting doctor trying to compel his mate.
Groaning, the witch doctor rose, his hands curled in a manner to release something. It was at the last minute Enoch saw it coming, yanking Scarlet away from his hold to receive the attack.
"Howl," he howled in pain, feeling the blow in his still-healing heart.
"Nooo," Scarlet yelped, standing up to fight off the doctor but was knocked unconscious by him.
"Poor thing, you should have just kept on sleeping. I guess the sleeping pills were too small," the doctor said, tutting disappointedly.
He was the one behind Enoch’s unconsciousness as he fed him with sleeping pills since the day he started treating him. If he hadn’t woken up, he would have managed to compel Scarlet and disappear with her.
"Why do you need my mate?" In his pained state, he asked.
"You know, I never let go of whatever interests me." The doctor answered, running his tongue lazily over his teeth. Enoch wondered how the doctor was able to live among white witches. Was he turning evil or was he disguising himself?
"Now back to business," he said, walking towards the unconscious Scarlet. He made her seat, then used his hand to support her back so her face was now facing him.
"I would claim her and kill you afterwards. You don’t deserve such beauty like her," the doctor said and joined his forehead with hers, causing a chain of energy to seep out of him to her.
"Noo," struggling to fight the pain, Enoch held his hands out, hoping he could reach Scarlet before she was compelled.
"What? Ho...." The rest of the doctor’s words were swallowed, when a sharp twist of the head was heard. Kicking him off her, Scarlet straightened her rumpled gown and stepped on the doctor’s dead body.
"Don’t you ever touch my mate," she warned, then ran to Enoch’s side, hugging him tightly.
She could get used to hugging him, as he was very warm and comforting.
"Scar...let, stay away, I feel the urge to taste your blood," lost in her mesmerizing scent, he felt the need to sink his fangs into her neck and reclaim her. It had been so long since he smelt her, and their closeness these days was reigniting a spark in him. A spark that wanted to consume her, ravage every part of her and make her his again.
"No, I am not leaving you again." She refused, her hold still on him, her hand playing with his hair.
"I might bite you," he whispered against her neck, his eyes glowing with the urge to taste her blood.
"It’s a full moon, there’s no need to suffer anymore, take me Enoch," she said.
Unable to hold in his hunger anymore, Enoch wrapped one hand around her waist and wrapped his other hand around her neck to put it in place, then he traced kisses along her neckline, preparing her for the bite.
"I would alleviate the pain," he whispered, sinking his fangs into her neck, his grip tightening. She tasted divine! Werewolves typically didn’t consume blood, but when their primal instincts demanded satisfaction, they indulged.
He had restrained his longing for his mate for five years, and that’s why he couldn’t control his hunger.
After finishing the blood-drinking, he delicately licked the bite mark and lifted her, moving towards the bed. She had already drifted into sleep, and he was amused at how weak she had become. Was it because of the daughter they lost?
Although his chest pain had eased, his heart still exhibited signs of incomplete healing, a matter that could be addressed upon their return.
He tucked them both into bed, drawing her nearer, and slept with her in his protective embrace.
On the cliff, Louis sat with crossed legs at the edge, eyes closed in a meditative posture. Beads of sweat traced his cheeks, indicative of the effort he was exerting.
He steeled himself, intensifying the pressure, his flushed cheeks betraying the strain.
In the darkness, Louis gazed at various images, some filled with laughter from unfamiliar faces, others echoing cries from a deadly place. No, that wasn’t what he sought. He needed to conjure the horse.
Waving off the unsettling images, he visualized the horse, recalling the joy of stroking it back at the stable.
"Yes!" Success. The horse appeared, and everything brightened, revealing a stallion before him. The horse, previously unteleportable, appeared gracefully.
Excited, he approached the horse, embracing and stroking its mane. He had done it! The anticipation of returning to the inn with the horse was evident.
"Ready to leave?" He asked the horse confidently, interpreting its neigh as affirmation. Stretching his hands, he chanted, creating a portal. He and the horse entered, teleporting back to the stable.
"Happy to be home? You are such a good boy," Louis praised, stroking the horse’s face, his thoughts turning to Damien. He couldn’t wait to see the pride on Damien’s face when he shared his success.
"You figured it out," the woman from earlier appeared, her eyes now carrying sorrow and fear, contrary to her earlier demeanor.
"How did you know to help?" He inquired, as she had provided the solution to his problem.
"Whenever you seek answers, start with ’what’ instead of ’how’," she advised, leaving him puzzled.
"Why?" He asked.
"You need to know what, to understand how, especially when you are clueless about your future. The signs won’t come now, but you will feel them, and you might have to leave to protect your loved ones," she explained, deepening his confusion.
"What are you?" He asked, and she smiled, pleased with the approach of his question for the first time.
