Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 135: Hidden side

Chapter 135: Hidden side

"I almost killed him!!!" Scarlet kept on repeating those words until she got to a cliff, halting to take in deep breaths. She left the inn feeling anxious, running profusely, not caring if she fell in the process.

Her mate was lying helplessly on the bed and she was the cause of it. Her wolf hurt, her whole body ached and she wished to run away from the world. Just when they were about to begin a new life together, fate was going to snatch him away from her.

If Enoch should die, she has no reason left to live and was going to kill herself. Falling to the ground, she let the tears flow out and kept on crying until she fell asleep.

Waking up, it was getting close to sunset and she scolded herself for falling asleep. She needed to go back to the inn and tend to Enoch.

She ran back to the inn and gently went into Enoch’s room, not wanting to alarm Aurora or Damien of her arrival. Entering his room, the window was left open and Enoch was lying on the bed. He looked peaceful and calm, and she wished to see him like that every day.

She doesn’t recall seeing him take a good nap since they knew each other. As the beta of the pack, he had more work to do than the Alpha himself. He ran mostly minor errands, and made sure to pass and deliver information when needed.

He carried so much weight on his shoulder, and she was just realizing how hard it must have been for him. Taking off her shoes, she tossed them aside and lay beside him in the bed.

Moving closer to him, she touched his face, tracing his teddy with her tiny hand. His hair was soft and they felt warm in her hands. She almost forgot the feeling of his hair and body ...No, what was she thinking?

She had to focus, what was she doing busy harassing a sick patient’s body?

Shutting off her mind from the bad thoughts, she laid on her back and soon fell asleep.

Scarlet woke up to the chirping sounds of the birds outside the window. Looking around her surroundings, she abruptly sat up when she saw Enoch. Right, he was still unconscious.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, causing Scarlet’s hair to rise, thinking it was Damien and Aurora. No, they couldn’t see her in this state as Enoch made her promise to keep their relationship a secret for a while.

The physician’s body came into her view and sighed in relief, causing the doctor to smile, thinking she was happy to see him. He had been attracted to her since he saw her last night, but was being careful when he found out that Enoch was her mate.

He was a witch, not so skilled but it wouldn’t be so hard to get her if he wanted. He already had over fifteen wives he married without seeking anyone’s consent. Getting Scarlet was going to be a piece of cake, but he needed to be careful.

"Please come in," she urged, climbing out of the bed to welcome him in. She helped him with his tools and placed them on the table beside the bed.

"How is he?" The doctor, Lazarus, asked.

"He seems fine and there hasn’t been any unusual changes. When is he going to wake up," she answered, asking a question in turn.

"Heaven would decide his fate, just don’t leave his side." Acting like he truly cared, he advised, bringing out his tools to check up on him.

She just nodded and watched him treat Enoch. While he tended to Enoch, she would run errands for him, providing him with everything he needed even though it was exhausting.

"He is stable, now we have to hope on his unknown fate. You need to take care of yourself too, he might not be happy to see you like this if he wakes." The doctor said, smiling seductively at her but Scarlet was too worried to notice it, and just nodded her head.

She was going to freshen up once the doctor left and try to eat for his sake. Enoch never liked to see her pale, so she was going to take care of herself.

Bidding her farewell, the doctor packed his things and left. She glanced at Enoch for the last time, and eventually went to take care of herself.

Meanwhile, in the stable, Louis occupied himself with practicing his teleportation skills, attempting to summon the horse back, but his efforts proved futile.

"Sometimes, the issue may not lie with us," a voice remarked, accompanied by a giggle.

Turning his attention, Louis was met with two blue eyes gazing at him, expressing a hint of sadness and concern before fading away. Wait, had he just read her true emotions? How was that possible?

"Who are you?" He asked cautiously.

"Just an old woman who makes a living by running this local inn," she replied, approaching him. For a moment, Louis couldn’t shake the feeling that he was looking at an older version of Aurora, as they shared striking similarities. Blue eyes, white hair, a commanding presence, and indescribable emotions. Could they be related?

"Some humans also have white hair, it’s nothing new," she responded, as if addressing his thoughts.

"You can read my mind?" He exclaimed, surprised and intrigued. No witch had ever been able to read his mind, a fact that contributed to his unlucky relationship with his adoptive witch mother, who resorted to mistreatment out of frustration at her inability to control him.

"Try looking beyond what you can see, the answer might be waiting for you," she advised before turning to leave, leaving Louis bewildered.

"Hold on, how can you read my mind? What are you?" he inquired.

She merely smiled and walked away, offering no explanation.

"Are you now talking to the air?" Damien teased, appearing behind him.

"I was clearly talking to that woman," Louis retorted, rolling his eyes, and resumed his training.

"What woman?" Damien asked.

"The owner of this inn, white hair, blue eyes," he clarified, adding more details to support his claim. Damien recalled the woman who had paid for their clothes and warm water, growing suspicious once again. If she had just left, why hadn’t he seen her?

"What did she tell you?" Damien inquired.

"Just to look beyond what I see. I know it sounds absurd, and I plan to ignore her," Louis said, focusing on honing his skills.

Suddenly, Damien had an insightful realization.

"What do you see when you teleport?" He asked, puzzling Louis. What did that have to do with his training?

"Nothing, I see darkness," Louis replied.

"That’s the reason," Damien realized, acknowledging the woman’s wisdom. She had inadvertently helped them solve a problem, leaving them curious about her identity.

"Try to look beyond the darkness, think about what you want and where you wish to be if things didn’t turn out this way," Damien suggested earnestly.

"But how do I do that if I can’t see anything?" Louis asked, confused and frustrated, running his hands through his hair.

He never saw anything beyond darkness, how was he expected to see beyond darkness? That was somewhat difficult and confusing.

"Sometimes the reason we are unable to try is because we are afraid," Damien said, recalling how he didn’t want to acknowledge his feelings for Aurora, despite being in love with her. The fear of being who he was not, the fear of loving a woman, made him deny her.

"Okay, I am going to try." Convinced, he agreed and closed his eyes to begin chanting again.

In Louis’ innermost mind, he was surrounded by darkness, his eyes closed and his senses watching out for his destination. He desperately wanted to bring back the horse but he couldn’t open his eyes.

"You are more than you see, unleash your power." A voice spoke in his head, causing him to flinch in fear. He thought he was able to get rid of the voices in his head, where did that come from?

"Who is there?!" He yelled.

"Your hidden side that you have been denying," the voice answered, and chuckled.

Hidden side? Could this voice know who he truly is?

"Do you know who I am?" He asked.

"Oh boy, you know yourself better than I do. You are just not ready for this," the voice replied.

"Ready for what?" He asked but the voice remained silent and a gush of wind blew him back, breaking the contact of the portal.

Falling back, he met himself on the floor and looked around, clenching his fist when he saw he was unsuccessful

"You can keep on trying, at least now you know what to do," Damien assured, then he offered him water to drink. Louis took it and gulped it down, feeling exhausted from having to do much.

He knew Damien was disappointed but he didn’t show it, so as not to discourage him and he appreciated that. Now he wasn’t going to let them down, he was going to keep trying.

"Thank you," he said and walked out of the stable, in search of somewhere peaceful to accomplish this task.

"Just be careful out there," Damien yelled after him, hoping he heard him.
