Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 134: Self-guilt
Chapter 134: Self-guilt
Fortunately, they discovered a carriage back to the inn, and a witch doctor was attending to Enoch. Scarlet found herself unable to control her emotions at the sight of Enoch in such a critical state.
This is all because of you!
Now he’s going to die just like your daughter!
You are such a selfish mate!
Guilt flooded her thoughts, and she couldn’t hold back the tears, her entire body trembling at the prospect of losing her mate. The realization struck her hard, she had put his life in jeopardy, and now he faced the possibility of death because of her.
She acknowledged her own selfishness and began to see how much she had changed, resembling the very family that had betrayed her. They were worse, but if she was becoming like them, then she had no reason to feel betrayed.
Overwhelmed by the pain, Scarlet fled the room where Enoch was being cared for and hastily exited the inn. "Scarlet!" Aurora called after her, rushing to hold her, but Damien restrained her, preventing her from going after Scarlet.
"What are you doing? We need to go after her," Aurora pleaded, fearing for Scarlet.
"We can’t. She needs time alone right now. I will fetch her later, if she is yet to be back." Damien insisted, holding Aurora firmly.
"But Enoch wouldn’t want her to be absent when he wakes up," she argued, unconvinced.
"Would you rather see her suffering in here, or let her release her emotions outside?" Damien questioned.
Understanding the truth in his words, Aurora stopped resisting and went to stand by the window, watching for Scarlet. "Don’t do anything rash, Scarlet," she whispered, hoping her friend would make the right choices for the sake of her mate. Despite the pain of discovering the truth, she decided to let go and give Scarlet the benefit of the doubt. It was never easy to accept the truth, just like she was in self-denial about Damien.
Now everything became clear, the aversion, pain, and tears were all because of Enoch, her mate. She had numerous questions, and she hoped Scarlet would share everything once they returned home. She couldn’t wait to leave the witch’s world, a sense of danger lingered, and she couldn’t quite fathom how she sensed it.
"Stay here, I will be back," Damien said, and she turned to face him, asking, "Where are you going?" Fearing another loss after the challenging days they had endured.
"I am finding a way to get back home," he replied before leaving the room.
As Damien exited, Louis stood at the door, his expression blank as if lost in contemplation. Damien tapped his shoulder, breaking his thoughts. "Little boss, you need to utilize your power. We can’t linger here, something feels off about this place."
"But... I can’t teleport over long distances. I am hopeless," Louis admitted, dropping his head in despair.
If Damien was counting on him, then he was making a grave mistake, as he had been trying so hard to teleport to a far distance but he couldn’t. If he could, he would have escaped from here a long time ago.
Why would he remain in the shackles of the disgusting dark witches world, if he had the power to escape?
"Follow me now," ignoring his remark, he commanded, not bothering to check if Louis was following him.
Louis opened his mouth to talk, wanting to ask where they were going. Changing his mind, he shut it and just followed Damien.
Damien took him to the stable, taking a stand beside a horse, and started stroking the horse.
"Are we here to stroke them?" Louis asked, willing to stroke the horses if that’s what Damien brought him here for.
"Do you still hear voices in your head? Damien asked, still stroking the horse gently.
"Not since I drank your blood, but I can still feel some movements in my head," Louis answered, coming to stand in front of a white horse, attempting to stroke the horse too.
"Nice, we can get to work now." Letting go of the horse, Damien went to stand in front of it and asked, "How big do you teleport things?" Staring at the horse.
"Well, I can manage to teleport five people at a time, but I haven’t tried teleporting objects." He answered, moving his hand downward to properly stroke the horse, when it neighed in satisfaction. He had never stroked a horse before and it felt good from doing it now.
Maybe because he had been freed from all his fears, so he had no worries.
"What about we try teleporting this horse?" Damien suggested, causing Louis to drop his hand. That was too risky!
"I have never transported something as heavy as this, moreover, it could be dangerous for the horse if I teleport it to a dangerous place." He said, moving away from the horse.
He was able to transport humans with ease, but he hadn’t tried moving animals and couldn’t be sure of his capability. They were lucky enough to have been transported here yesterday, heaven knows what would have happened if they had been transported elsewhere.
In addition, teleporting didn’t work that way, you have to be determined and precise to teleport. As someone who had to live his days cursed, he never uses his teleporting skills unless necessary.
"Do you trust yourself?" Damien asked.
"No," without hesitating, Louis replied, knowing his capability.
"Then let’s do it like this, we try something small and see if it works?" Damien urged, raising his brow at him with a convincing look. He wasn’t going to force him, but he was going to give him the push he needed. How was he going to know his capability, if he didn’t try?
"Alright," sighing, Louis agreed and the training began.
He would teleport smaller things but they never came back. It took him an hour to finally transport back what he teleported, successfully. Feeling fulfilled, he gazed at Damien with a newfound determination.
"Are you ready to try?" Damien asked, turning his gaze to the horse. If he was successful in teleporting the horseback without wavering, then they would leave this place in no time.
Enoch might need more days to recover so Damien didn’t want to depend on him, finding other ways to escape this world. And Louis was the only safest way.
Readying himself in front of the horse he now found a liking to, he closed his eyes, muttered inaudible words and opened them again. His eyes were full of vigor, and Damien could see the spark in them. He couldn’t be what he guessed him to be right?
The signs were just so obvious, and he didn’t fit the description of any other supernaturals. But how did he land in the witches’ world, his species wasn’t much of the witches’ fan.
Now Damien was beginning to get more curious, resisting the urge to ask Louis questions. How did he get cursed? Does he know his origin? Who are his parents?
"I am ready," Louis said, turning to face Damien when he didn’t get a reply.
"Alright, Damien replied, meeting his gaze simultaneously.
Nodding his head, he shifted his gaze back to the horse and started chanting some weird words, some of which were familiar to Damien.
A portal began opening, blowing a strong wind that pushed Louis back, but he regained his stance just as immediately.
Aferroo Disappearo
He said and the horse vanished into the portal. They waited for the horse to reappear but nothing happened. One minute, two minutes....five minutes passed, and the horse didn’t visualize.
Louis dropped his head in defeat and clenched his fist in anger, wondering why he could never be perfect, after every training he had to go through.
"Don’t be discouraged, it’s just the beginning. I would leave you alone," Damien said and left him, his wolf itching to see Aurora. He had been gone for quite a while and he needed to see her.
Entering Enoch’s room, he met her by the window, her face formed into a frown as she stared at nothing. Was Scarlet yet to be back?
"Aurora," he called, and as if she had been waiting for him, she ran into his arms, colliding against his chest, that made them both fall against the wall, from the sudden action. He was surprised that she was hugging him herself after wanting to leave. He was sure all of this was because of Scarlet, and she would go back to her normal self once Scarlet was back. So, he decided to enjoy it while it lasted.
"I am scared, scared for all of us. I don’t know why but I can smell danger, I can see it." She said, sobbing into his arms.
"Nothing is wrong, we will be leaving soon. Just until Enoch awakes," drawing soothing lines on her back, he assured, hugging her tightly.
"You think so?" She asked.
"I know so." He replied.
