Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 120: Butterflies
Chapter 120: Butterflies
Back at the mansion, Scarlet sat by Aurora’s bedside, tending to her as Aurora was yet to wake up. She had been in charge of taking care of the latter since a week ago. It was devastating to watch her best friend lying on the bed like a corpse. The pack doctor said he only managed to treat the wounds externally, but he couldn’t guarantee her complete healing internally.
"Just wake up, let’s smash those bitches asses together!" Holding her hand, Scarlet pleaded and sighed when a single strand of hair on Aurora’s head didn’t stand. She wondered if her friend was alive somewhere and was at peace there.
Cleaning up her face once more, Scarlet packed her things and switched off the light in the room before exiting it.
A large figure entered the room, silently walking into the room till he reached the bedpost. It was Damien, finally coming to see Aurora after a week. The room was dark, but he could make out her face, and how she was lying on the bed. He had been avoiding wanting to see her face and he preferred being in the dark this way.
It’s been over a week and his anger had been subdued, he just wasn’t sure if he could keep it in control upon gazing at his mate’s face. He could hear her calm breathing and was relieved to know she was still alive, but elsewhere.
He couldn’t help blaming himself for all that happened to her. If he wasn’t so stubborn to acknowledge his feelings for her, she would have been in his arms, with both of them naked in the bed. He shook his head at how naughty he was, while his mate was still lying unconscious.
"You affect me so much," he whispered, dropping his hand on her hair, and stroking it lovingly. He wasn’t going to admit it, but he had been drawn to her since the first day he met her, but decided to ignore the feeling.
Well, thanks to his mother who he was still angry at, he was able to feel love like every other person. Aurora was completely his and not even death would separate them. He would find her to the depths of hell if he needed to.
Taking her hand, he palmed it and dropped it near his cheeks. Strangely, he could feel her hands trembling which made him frown.
"Are you awake?" Realizing something, he asked.
Suddenly, Aurora gently opened her eyes and removed her hand from his hold. She had been awake before Scarlet’s departure but didn’t want to be nagged, so she decided to wait till Scarlet was gone before she woke up.
Unfortunately, the man she despised entered and was sitting next to her which angered her.
The audacity he had to even hold her hand made her tremble in anger, she had tried to hold it in but she couldn’t.
"Leave me alone," turning her head to the other side, she requested, her voice shaking from anxiety. Who would have imagined him coming to save her at the last moment?
If it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t have been in this predicament in the first place so he didn’t save her, he had already killed her since the time he asked for the annulment of the contract.
"Aurora," he started, but she didn’t give him any look and closed her eyes instead, not willing to hear what he had to say.
"I know you hate me but I would be cruel enough to ask you to stop hating me. No matter what, I won’t let you go, I will make you mine and my children’s mother. So be ready to be with me forever, I will let you rest for now." Saying that, he waited, hoping to see her react to what he said but she remained obstinate, refusing to look at him.
Sighing, he stood up and turned his back to leave. Reaching the door, he looked at her once more and finally left the room.
Once he was gone, Aurora released the breath she was holding and started crying. He is shamelessly asking her not to hate him after making her life miserable, that bastard!
She was going to make him regret ever ruining her life, if she survived death. Honestly, the reason she wanted him to leave was because she could barely feel her body, which meant bad news for her.
Was she dying? She prayed for life to avenge her killer’s death. She couldn’t die like this, the wicked ones wouldn’t stop ruining people’s lives. She was not ready to unite with her parents until she avenged their deaths.
"Not now," she whispered, tears dropping out of her eyes. She soon fell asleep and was woken by a melodious voice in the room.
It was Scarlet.
Helping herself up, she sat on the bed and rested her back on the pillow behind her.
"Hey," she called, her voice coming out hoarsely.
Turning her back, Scarlet opened her mouth, shocked to see Aurora awake. And what was with the Hey? Had Aurora forgotten who she was? Exclaiming, she ran to her side and sat on the bed, moving her hands up to hold Aurora’s face.
"Who am I?" She asked.
"Erm, one of the maids," Aurora found it funny but she decided to play along.
"Oh no, you don’t even remember your best friend. I am going to kill those murderers," Scarlet started wailing and hugged Aurora.
"Aurora, I am happy you are back to me." She said, and started patting Aurora on her back.
"Really? Then why are you being so dramatic?" Rolling her eyes, Aurora commented and busted into laughter.
"Wait, you were teasing me?" Realizing, Scarlet asked and yanked Aurora away which elicited a painful moan from the latter.
"I am sorry," Scarlet felt bad and held Aurora gently in her arms. She had forgotten that Aurora was still healing.
"It’s fine. Why would you think I don’t remember you?" Aurora asked.
"You called me hey which was unusual. You mostly use it when you feel bad or guilty, which doesn’t fit this context." Scarlet answered, weighing the situation.
"Oh, sorry. It just came out," Scratching her neck, she said.
"It’s okay, would you like to take your bath first or eat?" Scarlet asked.
"I would love to freshen up first," Aurora answered, receiving a nod from Scarlet in response. "I need your help to walk, my legs feel sore." She requested.
"Alright, baby girl." Scarlet helped Aurora up, holding her by the shoulder to guide her into the bathroom.
The bath lasted for twenty minutes and Aurora was finally cleaned up. Scarlet helped her into a light blue gown and fed her something light to eat.
*Mauh Mauh!* Suddenly Aurora busted into a feat of laughter, finding it funny that Scarlet had motherly skills. She was taking care of her well, which made Aurora wonder if she had been a mother before.
"What’s funny?" Staring at her, Scarlet asked Aurora as she carefully laid her bed.
"You are acting like my mother," Aurora replied, covering her mouth with her hand to stop the laughter that was threatening to come out.
"Well, you are lucky to have a mother figure, aren’t you?" Rolling her eyes, Scarlet said and returned to what she was doing. Aurora could not stop laughing, and they both started laughing together.
Scarlet was happy to have her friend back, and Aurora felt better after days of enduring tortures. She sighed in relief and looked out of the window, relishing in the sunlight.
"I want to go out," she requested, to which Scarlet nodded, which warned a frown of disbelief from Aurora. She knew Scarlet was complying to all her wishes because she was still on the sick bed, if it wasn’t for that, Scarlet would have scolded her for asking for too much.
"Fortunately, the pack doctor predicted you were going to need a wheelchair when you woke up. He wasn’t wrong after all," Scarlet relayed, walking over to the other side of the room, to retrieve the wheelchair.
When the pack doctor had mentioned getting a wheelchair, she was strongly against the idea, repulsed by the thought of her friend having to sit on one for the rest of her life. Until she heard him say, her legs would temporarily weaken because she was severely tortured there, so she was going to need support to help her work for the main time.
"Ohh right. I should thank the pack doctor later," she chuckled.
"Okay now, let’s go." Setting her on the wheelchair, Scarlet held onto the handle of the wheelchair by the shoulder, and walked them out. Scarlet wheeled her to the garden where Aurora and Theresa usually had their therapy session.
"Wow, it’s beautiful," Aurora commented on the array of butterflies that were playing in the garden. They had different colours and were in different sizes which amazed Aurora. It had been long since she had the chance to admire nature like this.
Before she met her mate, Lucas, she owned and managed a small garden at her parent’s house. It was full of different types of crops she used in supporting the pack members, who were in need.
There was a spot where butterflies frequented the garden and she made sure not to use that spot for anything because of the butterflies.
