Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 111: Bloodied paper

Chapter 111: Bloodied paper

With that, they exited Theresa’s room and securely locked the door.

"Tim!" She shouted his name repeatedly, pounding on the door in a futile attempt to gain her freedom. However, no one came to her rescue. She was as powerless as Aurora, and she knew she would have to condemn Aurora to death tomorrow or face dire consequences.

Biting her nails in frustration, she regretted deceiving Enoch and not contacting Damien that night. Timotei had become increasingly ruthless, displaying a complete disregard for the consequences of his actions.

Only Selena knew what they had done to Aurora. Timotei had reeked of blood when she had confronted him earlier in the afternoon. Could it have been from torturing Aurora?

"Oh no," she agonized, almost breaking into tears. Her own foolishness had led to Aurora’s suffering. Would Damien ever forgive her for the death of his woman? Their relationship had been strained before, and this incident might well sever any remaining bonds.

In her frustration, she began to vent her anger by tearing apart everything she could find in her room, throwing and hitting objects. Her hand got bruised when she struck the standing mirror, and blood began to seep from her injured hand.

Realizing that asking for help was futile, she sat down on the bed and eventually drifted off to sleep.

In Country X, Damien was back in his office, fully engrossed in his work. He was alone in his office as Dave had called it a day, and Enoch had stepped out to refill their coffees.

Suddenly, Damien recalled something and began searching for his phone. Despite rummaging through his desk and office, he couldn’t locate it. His search was interrupted by Enoch’s return.

"Looking for this?" Enoch asked, raising Damien’s phone.

Damien glanced at the phone in Enoch’s hand and sighed in frustration. "Where did you find it?" he asked.

"The cleaner on the rooftop found it and brought it to the reception. The receptionist recognized it as yours and asked me to return it to you," Enoch replied, moving further into the room.

He handed the phone to Damien, who mouthed a thank-you. Enoch felt a pang of sympathy for Damien, but things might have been different if Damien hadn’t arrogantly rejected Aurora.

Upon unlocking his phone, Damien noticed that he had 11 missed calls from his mother. Theresa knew he wouldn’t answer her calls, so she usually contacted Dave. Why was she calling him now?

Worried, he dialed her number, but she didn’t answer. He pushed his phone aside, suspecting that she might be playing games with him, and returned to his work.

"Miss Sophia will be here tomorrow morning and wants to discuss the new business proposal. Should I schedule it?" Enoch asked in his usual professional manner.

"Sure, the sooner, the better," Damien replied, hoping that Sophia’s company would briefly distract him from thinking about Aurora. Sophia had an infatuation with him and would stop at nothing to seduce him. He could tolerate her advances to avoid dwelling on Aurora.

"O...kay," Enoch responded with a stammer, surprised by Damien’s agreement. Damien had always refused physical meetings with Sophia, opting for online discussions, as she had previously attempted to force herself on him.

Even while the online meeting was scheduled, she always found a way to seduce him by wearing indecent dresses during video calls. And though video calls aren’t necessary, it was needed most times. Thankfully, Damien’s lack of interest in women had prevented any undue complications.

"If there are more meetings to attend, schedule them all. I don’t care," Damien added. Was he seeking to keep himself occupied? It troubled Enoch and for the first time, he felt the need to give him space.

"Understood," Enoch replied awkwardly and left Damien’s office.

Damien watched him depart and refocused on his paperwork. Suddenly, his pen slipped from his grasp, and he felt a sharp pain piercing through his chest.

He fell to the ground, clutching his chest to ease the suffocating sensation.

"What the hell?" His wolf growled, warning him of danger, which bewildered Damien.

He couldn’t feel any impending danger, moreover Enoch would have mindlinked him if something bad was going on. Had his wolf gained the ability to sense danger from a great distance? Such capabilities belonged to their ancestors, the Lycans, unless he was one himself, which seemed highly improbable because they had gone extinct.

Standing up, he assumed he was exhausted and in need of rest. He sipped a glass of water to re-energize and drank the coffee Enoch had brought. After disposing of the empty can, he moved to the couch in his office and lay down, attributing his unease to fatigue. He hoped a nap would help refresh his body and mind. He soon fell asleep.

Back at the mansion, it was an unusually quiet morning. Sarah and Elder Timotei had discreetly sent away several maids and guards to minimize the number of witnesses and avoid potential gossip that could ruin their plan.

Scarlet awoke with swollen, baggy eyes, the result of her frantic search for Aurora the previous day. She had even gotten into a physical altercation while defending Aurora against a stranger’s false accusation. This resulted in her sustaining a swollen eye. After returning to her room, she cried herself to sleep.

Determined not to give up, Scarlet decided to oversee the daily cleaning at the mansion before heading to the pack to search for Aurora once more. She intended to seek out Theresa later to inquire about the progress of her investigation.

Without taking the time to freshen up, she left her room and started supervising the mansion’s cleaning. She noticed that there was an unusual scarcity of maids in the mansion, making her wonder if Theresa had given them all a day off.

To hasten the cleaning process, Scarlet decided to pitch in and assist the maids. As they worked, one of the maids suddenly screamed and pointed at something she had thrown to the ground.

"Can we keep it down today? I have a terrible headache and even a little noise could be fatal," Scarlet requested, not wanting to deal with whatever had frightened the maid. However, the maid then uttered, "Blood, there’s blood," causing Scarlet to toss her mop aside and rush over.

"Where?" She inquired.

The maid pointed to a bloodstained piece of paper on the floor. The paper looked crumpled, but it didn’t appear to be an old scrap.

"Relax. It’s probably just someone who got hurt and used it to clean their bloody hand," Scarlet reassured the dramatic maid and began to examine the paper more closely.

"Moreover, we are werewolves. Why would..." Scarlet halted when she noticed something familiar in the handwriting on the paper. Intrigued, she unfolded the paper and read its contents. What she discovered left her in shock. Aurora was locked up in a dungeon, and this paper was stained with her blood.

Scarlet grabbed the maid’s shoulder firmly and demanded, "Where is Miss Aurora?"

The terrified maid replied, "She’s in the courtroom, facing punishment for theft."

"Why didn’t anyone inform me about this?!" Scarlet shouted. She was responsible for overseeing the mansion’s maids, and the fact that she had been unaware of such a significant event left her furious.

"We assumed you already knew and didn’t care," the maid explained, wincing from the tight grip.

"You think I wouldn’t care if my best friend was being unjustly accused and imprisoned?! Who is behind this?!" Scarlet’s anger continued to escalate, but she was concerned about hurting the maid, so she let go and stormed toward the courtroom.

Theresa, Sarah, her mother, the Elders, and anyone else involved in this injustice would pay for their actions. However, she couldn’t confront them alone as she lacked the power to do so at the moment.

Scarlet retreated to her room and called Damien, expecting him to be busy. To her surprise, he picked up on the first ring.

"Hey, I am occupied and can’t deal with your complaints. What’s up?" Damien assumed that Scarlet wanted to confront him about his request for a contract annulment. However, his real concern was Aurora’s well-being.

Even if he couldn’t trust his mother, Scarlet had acted as a maternal figure to Aurora, making her the best person to inquire about Aurora’s status. Enoch should have called her instead. She might still hold grudges against him but she wouldn’t joke about her friend, Aurora.

"Did you have a hand in all of this, you heartless bastard? Isn’t hurting her enough? Now you are plotting to kill her," Scarlet’s words tumbled out in a chaotic and confusing manner, making it difficult for Damien to grasp the full picture.

"Kill her? What on earth are you talking about?" Damien questioned.

"Still pretending to be innocent, huh? Well, your mother, future wife, and the Elders have falsely accused Aurora of theft and mercilessly tortured her. She’s currently in the courtroom, facing a death sentence," Scarlet blurted out.

"What did you just say?"
