Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 108: Andrew, the shorter guard.
Chapter 108: Andrew, the shorter guard.
"Very well, do as you please," Enoch remarked, frustration evident as he angrily let his phone drop upon realizing Damien’s stubbornness. It was of no use arguing with him anymore, Damien was going to leave regardless of what he wanted.
Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Elder Timotei, with a determined expression, made his way toward Aurora’s cell, prepared to set things in motion. If he needed to push her to the brink of confession by any means necessary, he was ready to do so. Time was of the essence, and he had no intention of wasting it.
Upon reaching the inner part of the dungeon, two guards stationed in front of Aurora’s cell appeared visibly fatigued from their duty of guarding her in the dungeon’s darkest recesses. They were leaning against her cell door, and their surprise was evident when they spotted Elder Timotei.
"Elder!" The shorter of the two guards exclaimed, clearly taken aback by his early presence. Normally, no matter how dangerous the criminal, it was unusual for someone to sacrifice their sleep to check on a prisoner. Furthermore, Aurora didn’t look like a typical criminal, and the task of watching over a lifeless and seemingly innocent woman had taken a toll on them.
Andrew, the shorter guard, couldn’t help but wonder why they couldn’t accept her innocence and simply banish her. However, he was just a guard and had no say in the mansion’s decisions.
"Is she awake?" Ignoring their surprised expressions, Elder Timotei inquired, taking a step closer to them, even though he couldn’t see Aurora through the enclosed cell.
The limited ventilation in the room was designed to weaken any potential threat, but Elder Timotei believed Aurora was far from a threat and appeared more human. Consequently, she could die from lack of air if left there for more than a week. He sympathized with her but believed he was acting in the best interest of their pack.
For the pack to prosper, they needed to crown the perfect Luna, not a mere pawn. Moreover, Damien didn’t seem committed to Aurora, and if she were to become Luna, she might not be taken seriously by the pack if the Alpha continued to neglect her.
In his view, this was the right course of action. "Yes, she hasn’t closed her eyes since she was locked in," Andrew replied, his heart aching at the thought of her suffering.
"Really? She’s more resilient than I expected," Elder Timotei mused with a meaningful glance, finding her determination intriguing. Despite the hardships, she remained strong, but he wondered how long she could endure. Breaking women like her typically required time, they eventually bent under pressure.
"Sir?" Andrew asked, puzzled by Elder Timotei’s remark. He had only mentioned that she hadn’t closed her eyes, what was cunning about that? Andrew expected a sympathetic response, but Elder Timotei appeared ready to unleash something more severe upon Aurora.
"Never mind. Get me paper and a pen in ten minutes," Elder Timotei ordered the taller guard, who promptly bowed and left, relieved to escape the dungeon even for a brief moment.
"And you, open the cell. Let’s pay her a visit, shall we?" Elder Timotei directed Andrew, waiting for the guard to unlock the cell door.
Upon entering the enclosed cell, Elder Timotei was nearly overwhelmed by the foul odor emanating from the room. It reeked of exhaustion, despair, and pain, leaving him wondering how she had survived in such conditions.
There was no window or obvious ventilation, and the only opening was above the cell door, offering limited fresh air. Aurora lay on the ground, her once-clean, white hair disheveled from torture and exhaustion. Her face was covered in dirt, and she emitted a strong odor of sweat and blood.
She now wore a flowing white gown that reached her feet, stained with blood. It seemed Sarah had ordered the maids to remove her old dress. Aurora appeared disheveled and filthy, causing Elder Timotei to wrinkle his nose in disgust.
The once-beautiful woman, whom their Alpha possessed with possessiveness, now bore the appearance of a beggar. If only she hadn’t attempted to disrupt their marriage plans, she wouldn’t find herself in this dire situation.
Despite her feeble state, Aurora detected faint movements within the cell. She mustered the strength to open her eyes and squinted at the figures in the room. Recognizing Elder Timotei, a surge of energy coursed through her, and she gingerly sat up, her body trembling from the pain. With shaky hands, she clasped them together and began to speak.
"E...Elder..." Before she could continue, he interrupted, stating, "The paper and pen you requested will arrive shortly." He pretended to be on her side, all the while planning to coerce a confession from her. Betraying trust was often the most effective way to break people.
"Th...thanks," she expressed gratitude, smiling brightly despite her dire circumstances. Was she naive or simply unaware? Whichever it was, it further repulsed him, the thought of having such a weak and gullible Luna. Did she not grasp that there was no escape and her end was near?
He mused that her earlier display of strength was an underestimation, she was likely clinging to hope for a chance at escape. Well, there was no way out, he thought with satisfaction.
Just as he was about to speak, the tall guard from earlier entered the room with a piece of paper and a pen.
"Elder Timotei," extending his hand, indicated for Elder Timotei to take what he had brought, which he did.
Approaching Aurora, Elder Timotei bent down to her eye level, placing the pen and paper before her. "Write what you have to say, and let’s get to the matter at hand," he commanded. He stood up and took a few steps away from her as he couldn’t stand the foul odor she was emitting.
Aurora nodded, relieved to finally have an opportunity to proclaim her innocence. She reached for the pen but it slipped from her grasp. Her body was racked with pain, and she struggled to hold it.
After several failed attempts, Andrew grew frustrated watching her struggle. He moved to sit beside her, gently taking her hands and securing the pen, nodding reassuringly as he indicated that he would help her.
Aurora would have thanked him if she weren’t in such agony. Her body ached and she wished to be free from this agony but she knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
She had to deprive herself of sleep to avoid dying in the process. She had already lost so much blood and her organs were weakening with each passing day. Additionally, she hadn’t been fed food or water for five days now, sleeping would only worsen things. Losing consciousness under these conditions could be fatal. She knew much about the body and could feel death approaching.
While not particularly skilled, Aurora had once had a female friend who was a surgeon. Their friendship didn’t last, as the surgeon believed the rumors about Aurora being possessed by an evil spirit with white hair and began avoiding her. Nonetheless, before their parting, Aurora had learned a few things from her work.
Andrew gently squeezed her hand, urging her to write, as she seemed lost in thought. Taking this as a cue, she began to write slowly, drawing strength from Andrew’s support.
The writing process took some time, and she finally completed her message to her best friend, Scarlet, who she hoped would be her savior. Once Scarlet read the letter, she would surely contact Damien to help save her from this predicament.
Even if he didn’t conduct a thorough investigation, she intended to use the favor she held with him to plead for her life. She was grateful she hadn’t squandered that favor recklessly. Now, she could only wait for a miracle and then flee, vowing never to return to this pack.
"I am done," she managed to say in a whisper. Raising his hand, Andrew understood her intent and handed the blood-stained paper to Elder Timotei.
"Now, shall we proceed?" He folded the paper and stashed it in his pocket before asking.
Nodding her head, she agreed. "Well, Miss Aurora, I sincerely regret that you’re enduring all of this, but I hope you understand it’s for the greater good of the pack," he began, justifying their unlawful treatment of her.
Why was no one coming to her rescue? What of Williams, one of the Elders who she was acquainted with in the mansion? She couldn’t believe how hopeless she was at this state, she knew people but they were not powerful enough to help her.
She wondered why Sarah hadn’t come to check up on her since the last torture. Could it be that they were planning something dangerous?
’Selena, save me from this suffering.’ Inwardly, she prayed to the moon goddess, hoping to be saved by her.
What could be more devastating than corrupt leaders?
