Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 103: Charlotte’s failed plan
Chapter 103: Charlotte’s failed plan
Theresa found herself increasingly irritated since her marriage into this pack. They insisted on imprisoning her without substantial evidence, which, in her view, was a crime in itself.
No matter how serious the offense was, the criminal had a right to be tried unless judgment was directly passed down by the Alpha. And most times, as much as the Alpha was strict with his rules, he was still humane when it came to punishing offenders.
What was more, they were imprisoning the Alpha’s woman with the excuse of her stealing. Wasn’t it obvious that they were trying to get rid of Aurora, because she posed a threat to Luna’s future position?
Theresa couldn’t fathom that Aurora, a person she had always seen as bold and incapable of criminal activities, would stoop so low as to engage in robbery. Despite their past differences, she felt at ease in Aurora’s presence. She never would have believed she’d defend Aurora one day, but their relationship had improved significantly.
Aurora was a delightful companion, hardworking, sharp, strong, and more intelligent than most women Damien had been associated with. The moment Theresa saw Aurora at that auction, she knew she shouldn’t let her go. Now, they were attempting to remove the only person who had managed to change her son’s emotions. She was determined to get to the bottom of the matter.
Feeling uncomfortable in their presence, Theresa expressed, "If that’s all, I would like to take my leave."
"You have your way, Theresa," Elder Timotei replied, signifying her freedom to do as she pleased. Sarah and her mother exchanged discreet glances, with Sarah giving Laura a hesitant smile before turning her attention back to Elder Timotei.
"I am sure we won’t have any problems for now," Elder Timotei conveyed and resumed eating. Observing Elder Timotei’s apparent lack of concern, Sarah decided to set aside her worries and focus on their next step, which involved getting the rogue they had brought in to confess against Aurora.
If their plan with the crazy drop managed to get the rogue to do their bidding, then she was sure Aurora was as good as dead. All she needed was the strong support of the Elders, and with the look of things, they seemed determined to get rid of Aurora more than she wanted. Though Elder Timotei had yet to support her, she believed he was soon to ask for an audience with her.
Meanwhile, Charlotte anxiously paced her room, waiting for a maid to bring her dinner. She hoped that, despite Sarah’s cruelty, she wouldn’t let her starve. Charlotte believed in Aurora’s escape plan.
Just when she was about to give up and retire to her bed, she heard a soft sound and saw a maid entering with a food trolley. Charlotte’s excitement was evident as she approached to help the maid with the trolley.
"Miss Charlotte, you don’t have to," the maid said, stopping her from pushing the trolley. Charlotte understood the concern and let go of the trolley to avoid worrying the maid.
"Thanks for the food," she expressed her gratitude. Her broad smile raised the maid’s concern, prompting her to ask, "Did I do something wrong, Milady?" It was unusual for a high-ranking guest to be so pleased with a maid delivering their food unless they were close. The maid knew something was amiss, and Charlotte’s excitement was too much for her to handle.
"No, in fact, can you do me a favor?" Charlotte scratched her neck awkwardly as she made her request.
"Of course, Milady. I am at your service," the maid willingly replied, brightening Charlotte’s mood. She had been worried her plan wouldn’t work, but it was going smoothly.
Stretching out her hand, Charlotte handed a small folded white paper to the maid and asked, "I need you to deliver this to the mansion’s mistress, Theresa."
"Okay, Milady," the maid agreed and gave a slight bow before leaving the room. Once the door closed, Charlotte squirmed with joy, having successfully completed her mission. Now she could eat in peace, knowing Aurora would be saved.
Just outside Charlotte’s room, Sarah leaned against the door, waiting for the maid to exit. When the maid finally emerged, she ordered, "Hand it over."
The maid promptly gave the small folded paper to her and left.
Opening the paper, Sarah read its contents and expressed disbelief. Despite being confined, Charlotte found the time to worry about others. Sarah tore the paper into pieces and allowed them to fall to the ground, creating a mess.
"Keep trying, Charlotte, but you will never be able to stop me," she muttered, recalling how she had instructed the maid on what to do if Charlotte ever requested a favor. They had been friends for nearly a decade, so Sarah knew exactly what Charlotte was capable of.
Turning away from Charlotte’s room, she headed toward her own.
As she walked, she unexpectedly crossed paths with Elder Timotei, who bore a deeply concerned expression. She had a strong inkling of what was bothering him, and it was heartening to know that someone else was in her corner.
In reality, she was well aware of Elder Timotei’s strong dislike for Aurora, and this was precisely what she had leveraged to gain his support. She believed that serving something bitter was the best way to make a baby cry, and in this case, the Elders were her tool to rid the pack of Aurora.
Just as she was about to summon Elder Timotei, he addressed her, "Miss Sarah, can I have a moment of your time?" Although she was pleased by his desire to speak with her, she concealed her emotions and politely replied, "Yes, Elder Timotei." Finally, the Elders were on her side.
Leading the way, she guided him to a secluded balcony hidden at the rear of the kitchen, a place she had discovered while getting to know the mansion’s staff for her own purposes.
"Please, go ahead, Elder Timotei," she encouraged when they were settled on the balcony.
After making sure no one was within earshot, he began, "I know Miss Aurora is innocent of the accusation, but I am not here for the truth. I am here so we can shape a narrative." He was sharp enough to understand the situation but wasn’t concerned with discovering the truth. He and the other Elders had no intention of accepting a prostitute into their pack or recognizing her child as their heir if she ever had one. They had endured enough of Damien’s ridicule, and it was time for them to take action.
"Elder Timotei, I appreciate your support, and I want you to understand that I won’t let you down if you promise to stand by me until the end," Sarah didn’t bother pretending ignorance or feigning a lack of understanding, instead, she struck a deal.
"You are a smart woman, just what our pack needs. We won’t side with a plaything," Elder Timotei praised Sarah and agreed to her proposal.
"You flatter me, Elder Timotei," she blushed at his compliments, lowering her head with delight. As she raised her head, she noticed a dark expression briefly cross Elder Timotei’s countenance, but she tried to dismiss it, recognizing it as something else.
"Anyway, framing her for theft without strong evidence won’t serve our purposes. Do you have a plan in mind?" He brought his gaze back to normal, pulling Sarah out of her thoughts.
"I do have a plan, but it may carry some risk," she hinted that the plan could pose challenges.
"As long as it’s effective, we can find a way out," Elder Timotei didn’t mind taking a risk, the outcome was all that mattered to him. After hours of deliberation with the other Elders, they all agreed to proceed with the plan, except for David, whom Elder Timotei chose not to involve, knowing that he had a close relationship with Aurora.
"I hope you won’t change your mind later, Elder Timotei," Sarah pointed out.
"I am willing to risk my position and life for this cause. What more can I do to prove my commitment?" he asked. It was already evident that this was a plan with no insurance, and if it went awry, he would pay with his life, along with the other Elders who participated.
"Very well. I have brought in a rogue to serve as her accomplice. I just need a small potion to manipulate him." She began explaining her plan, producing a vial of the potent drop potion to show him.
Instantly, Elder Timotei recognized the contents and reacted with concern.
"I know, I know. But it’s just a small amount, and we would ensure he takes the antidote in five days. That’s when the potion’s effects will become noticeable, and by then, we’ll have the confession we need," she explained quickly, understanding his worries. She had felt the same way when her mother had shown her the potion, so she couldn’t blame him for his reaction.
