Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 102: Hiding things from the Alpha

Chapter 102: Hiding things from the Alpha

"Sarah!" Charlotte heard the clinking of keys and rushed toward the door, banging on it repeatedly. Had Sarah just locked her in?

"Just for a few days, darling. I promise to set you free soon," Sarah’s voice came from outside the room, accompanied by a mischievous chuckle.

How swiftly people could change due to desperation. Charlotte had anticipated a day like this but not in this context. Over a decade of friendship was tossed aside within minutes over a trivial issue.

Ambitions could drive someone to madness, but Charlotte wondered if it was truly worth the risks. Gritting her teeth, she searched her room for her phone, hoping to at least call Dave.

After a few moments of searching, her phone was nowhere to be found in her room, and frustration made her yell out. Where could she have left her phone?

Could it be in Sarah’s room? While searching for Sarah, she entered her room and waited for a few minutes before growing impatient and deciding to continue searching. She had forgotten her phone in the clutches of the villain. What a predicament!

’So foolish,’ she chastised herself internally, venting her frustration by repeatedly kicking her leg into the air. What was she going to do? How could she save Aurora from this imminent danger?

Wait, Sarah wouldn’t let her starve, right? Perhaps she could pass a letter to Theresa through whoever brought her food. Now, she just had to wait, in the meantime, she would compose the perfect letter.

In Country X.

Damien’s tie was loose, his shirt unbuttoned, revealing his bare chest. He sat in his office, sifting through troublesome documents. A staff member had presented the wrong documents for a transfer of ownership, requiring them to start the process again.

Since returning to Country X, Damien had barely slept a full night. It had taken five years to finalize the entire deal, and it had been jeopardized by a careless staff member in a single day.

Taking a break, he stood and moved to the back of his chair. Their company’s walls were mostly glass, providing a view of the world from any office. Damien sipped his coffee and gazed at the tranquil nighttime scene.

His thoughts drifted to Aurora, and he wondered if she was eagerly awaiting the annulment of their contract or if she felt saddened by it. Why did he care? She was just a plaything, after all.

For some reason, a disquieting feeling welled up in his chest, especially when he thought of Aurora. Could something be happening?

Or perhaps he was simply being overly sensitive, and she didn’t care about him or his well-being. The longing he felt for her was unfamiliar, and he had never experienced anything like it before.

Even while he worked, he found himself distracted by thoughts of her, which had never happened before. Suddenly, she had entered his life, and everything felt somewhat different.

Maybe he was being too hard on himself and needed to settle down. But she didn’t want him, she despised him and would never forgive him for hurting her.

"Can I take a break now?" Dave’s fatigued voice broke the silence in Damien’s office.

"No," Damien’s tone was stern.

"At this rate, I will collapse before this company does," Dave lamented and began feigning tired moans.

"I had prefer that," Damien responded, and Enoch let out a snort.

Glaring at Enoch, Dave mockingly said, "Why is a mere staff member in a CEO’s office?"

"Well, just like you, I am making myself useful," Enoch retorted.

"Who says I am a mere staff member? I am inheriting this company," Dave boasted, even though he knew it was impossible since Damien would bear children, and they were next in line.

"You sound energetic, do you need more work?" Damien asked Dave, ending their banter.

"You sound sad, do you want to see Aurora?" Dave teased and buried his head in his work.

Enoch picked up on Damien’s expression and noticed the emptiness on his face. It was now evident that Damien was in love with Aurora. So why did he want to annul the contract just because he wasn’t sure if she loved him?

This was the perfect opportunity to pursue her, but he seemed reluctant to make a move.

"Speaking of Aurora, did you see her before coming?" Enoch inquired from Dave, deciding to press Damien on the matter.

"Strangely, it was like she disappeared from the mansion when I got back," Dave replied.

Damien’s expression turned serious, his hands clenching into fists as he repeated, "Disappeared? What do you mean?"

"Just, you know, I didn’t see any signs of her before leaving. But don’t worry, she’s probably with Scarlet," Dave reassured Damien, trying to dismiss his concerns.

However, Damien couldn’t shake off his unease. His face contorted into a frown, and he appeared ready to rush to the airport and catch a flight back home.

Enoch promptly contacted him via the mindlink before he could make any impulsive decisions.

’I am sure she’s fine, don’t let Dave’s words bother you,’ Enoch reassured.

’No, I have been having this strange feeling too. His instincts might be right,’ Damien disagreed, remembering the unsettling feeling he had about something happening to Aurora.

"So, what do you plan to do?’ Enoch inquired.

’You will stay here with Dave, while I...,’ Damien began before Enoch interrupted.

’Not a chance. If we don’t finish this, we won’t be able to return soon,’ Enoch firmly asserted.

’What do you suggest I do then?’ Damien asked impatiently.

’I will call in and ask about her well-being. That’s the best option we have for now,’ Enoch recommended.

’Alright, I want a response by tomorrow morning,’ Damien agreed, and Enoch terminated the mindlink.

"Do you really have to use the mindlink? I feel left out," Dave complained.

"You should focus more on your work, kiddo," Enoch advised, shaking his head and looking away.

"Whatever, Sherlock," Dave retorted, rolling his eyes and shifting his attention.

Ignoring their exchange, Damien let out a sigh and continued gazing out of his office through the glassy wall. He hoped Aurora was safe and hadn’t run away or thought of doing so. He wasn’t sure if his wolf could handle her sudden disappearance. He had no intention of letting her go, even after terminating their contract, he just wanted to stop hurting her by ending the contract. Once she was no longer angry with him, he planned to take her as a concubine.

It wasn’t selfish to desire her after being married, right? He had his pack duties to fulfill first, which was the unwanted marriage, and a mere love shouldn’t hinder that.

After finishing his coffee, he tossed the empty can into the trash and returned to his work.

Back at the mansion, the Elders, Theresa, Sarah, her mother, and several others sat around the dining table, discussing Aurora’s case.

"Aurora would never do such a thing. Let me see her myself, I want to talk to her," Theresa refused to accept their words and demanded to speak to Aurora.

"Theresa, you are the mistress of the mansion, and you are meant to set an example for others. Why would you take the side of a criminal?" Elder Timotei attempted to emotionally manipulate her, but it didn’t seem to work.

"A criminal locked up without evidence or witnesses?!" Theresa shouted back.

"Mother, I wouldn’t lie against Aurora, she’s never wronged me before. I mean well, please believe me for her sake," Sarah chimed in, shedding crocodile tears.

"I understand your concern, my daughter, but you must provide evidence of her theft before labeling her a thief," Theresa firmly stated. She wasn’t defending a criminal, she simply wanted to confirm if Aurora had indeed stolen something before passing judgment.

"What other proof do you need? Why do you keep insisting?" Elder Timotei snapped.

"This is starting to look suspicious. All I am asking for is to see her. Why is that such a problem if you are not hiding anything?" Theresa questioned.

"Fine, in two days’ time, you will have the opportunity to see her, along with everyone else. By then, I hope you won’t hesitate to pass judgment," Elder Timotei agreed.

"Very well," Theresa reluctantly agreed.

Dave had never reported anything missing from his room before departing, so why were they taking it seriously when the one who should be concerned hadn’t even reported anything?

"And also, the Alpha is already dealing with a headache over there. I think it would be best if no one told him about what’s happening here," Sarah suggested.

"I agree," Elder Timotei supported her.

"But Aurora is his woman. How can we keep such vital information from him?" Theresa found it difficult to accept.

"I am sure he wouldn’t tolerate a thief as his woman. It would be detrimental if he handled the case personally, as you know very well that he is very strict with his rules," Elder Timotei argued, eventually convincing Theresa.

Her son wasn’t the type to change for love. If Elder Timotei was right, Aurora might be in even greater danger if he found out about it.

"Fine," she finally agreed.
