Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night
Chapter 100: Crazy drop

Chapter 100: Crazy drop

"You heard me. Why did you attempt to harm me if you had no fear of me exposing your theft?" Sarah restated her accusatory question, provoking an annoyed glare from Aurora.

"Are you not overdoing this?" Aurora questioned, her patience wearing thin.

"Leave it to me, Luna," a calm voice chimed in from behind Sarah. His presence instilled an unsettling fear in Aurora, as he didn’t seem to be here to challenge Sarah’s questionable investigation but rather appeared to be on Sarah’s side.

"Elder Timotei, I am grateful you are here. Perhaps you can help persuade her to come clean. I genuinely feel sorry for her," Sarah’s voice took a sudden emotional turn, with tears streaming down her cheeks. Aurora had never encountered such a cunning woman as Sarah. One moment, she was a fierce beast, and now, she resembled a vulnerable child.

"Luna, you shouldn’t waste your time on someone like her. Allow me to handle it for you," he said, moving closer to Sarah and offering gentle pats as he reassured her with comforting words.

"I am just concerned about my mother-in-law. We can’t keep deceiving her for long," Sarah remarked, shocking Aurora.

So that was why Theresa hadn’t been around to check on her? How had Aurora forgotten that Sarah could easily manipulate everyone’s perception if she could frame her for a crime she didn’t commit?

"She will find out sooner or later, but that won’t prevent us from punishing the wrongdoer. We don’t tolerate misconduct regardless of one’s status," the Elder appeared determined to punish Aurora. She could barely see his face, but he was one of those who opposed her, about being Damien’s woman.

Aurora was starting to feel fear creeping in and wished Damien were present. At least then, she could plead for him to banish her from the pack if he couldn’t save her from punishment.

"I knew I married into the right pack. I will leave it to you, then," she said, smiling at Elder Timotei before walking up to Aurora.

"I don’t wish any harm to come to you. Please cooperate with Elder Timotei, and I will help reduce your punishment if you confess," she acted friendly, stroking Aurora’s hair before flashing a sly grin.

"I have nothing to confess," Aurora retorted, swatting Sarah’s hand away.

Leaning closer, Sarah whispered, "Keep it up bitch, I promise to make you suffer," and with that, she left the cell.

"Miss Aurora, I am Elder Timotei. I am sure you know who I am. But aside from that, as the Alpha is not present at the moment, we may need to investigate his plaything without his approval," Elder Timotei began, his words sharp and his gaze intense. Aurora gulped, as it sounded like he was pressuring her to talk, with Damien unavailable to protect her. If it was a threat, she didn’t have to be told as it was evident.

"Elder Timotei, this is all a misunderstanding. I am innocent," she said, although she felt intimidated by his words and was determined not to appear weak by confessing to something she didn’t do.

"Then explain why you were in Dave’s room," he demanded.

"I needed to find the Alpha and thought Dave could help me. I entered his room but couldn’t locate him. In my attempt to leave him a message, Miss Sarah caught me searching for a book and pen. I admit it was wrong, but I had no intentions of stealing anything," she explained, hoping to persuade Elder Timotei of her innocence.

"Miss Aurora, are you suggesting that the future Luna is falsely accusing you?" Elder Timotei inquired, and Aurora carefully noted the implication in his words. If she agreed, she might be punished for slandering the future Luna, who currently held more power than her. No one would believe the Alpha’s plaything over the future Luna.

"Elder Timotei, Miss Sarah may have misunderstood my intentions. It’s only fair that she doesn’t overlook any offenses in the pack, but I am innocent," she replied politely.

"I see. So you acknowledge that you were not wrongly accused but rather misunderstood?" Elder Timotei didn’t have a favorable opinion of Aurora, especially since she had come into the pack after they had planned Damien’s marriage, nearly jeopardizing their perfect plan.

They couldn’t rush handling her case but couldn’t afford to delay either. They had successfully kept the situation hidden from Theresa, but some of the guards at the mansion remained loyal to Damien. It wouldn’t be long before Theresa found out, and by then, they hoped to have dealt with Aurora effectively. Their first step was to either pin something on her or employ psychological tactics to make her confess.

If they could gain enough support from people regarding her case, they could potentially expel her from the mansion, even with Damien’s support.

"Elder Timotei, I believe my words don’t matter at this point. But please do not twist my words, they were clear enough," she retorted, averting her gaze to hide her growing annoyance. She struggled to contain her boiling anger, uncertain how much longer she could keep it in check.

"Very well. We would get back to you with any decisions we make. Lock her up," he ordered before turning to leave. But just as he was about to walk away, Aurora called out.

"Elder Timotei, could I at least see my friend? Her name is Scarlet, and she oversees the mansion’s cleaning," she requested, hoping to catch a glimpse of a familiar face for support.

"I am afraid that won’t be allowed. Tight security is necessary until the investigation is concluded. If you need to pass any messages, give them to me, and I will deliver them for you," he replied.

"Then, may I have a paper and a pen?" she requested.

"Of course, the next time I come around," he agreed before swiftly walking away, leaving Aurora with no chance to continue.

Inside the mansion.

"Are you certain we can maintain this mere accusation?" Sarah’s mother, Laura, inquired, concern evident in her voice.

Upon hearing about the situation, she had been elated and had begun sharing some of her possessions with the mansion’s servants. However, she soon realized that things could go awry if any misstep occurred.

"Don’t worry, Mother. I promise to make you proud," Sarah assured with a warm smile.

"Have you secured an accomplice?" Laura asked.

"Yes, Mother. We currently have one in the dungeon, though we have only managed to threaten him with his life. It’s not enough to ensure his cooperation," Sarah admitted, thinking about the accomplice they had enlisted to support their claim. He was a rogue werewolf they had captured near the border and coerced into helping them.

Most rogues couldn’t be trusted as they tended to be independent thinkers. However, this particular rogue appeared to value his life, making it relatively easy to intimidate him.

"In that case, we need to find something more substantial to guarantee his cooperation," Laura advised, her hand resting on her chin as she pondered.

"Do you have any ideas, Mother?" Sarah asked, knowing her mother never disappointed in such matters.

"Do you trust me?" Laura suddenly asked, catching Sarah off guard.

"What do you mean, Mother? Of course I do," she replied, having always followed her mother’s directives, even when they were sometimes questionable.

"Good. I have something that could help us."

"What is it?" Sarah inquired.

Rising from her seat, Laura walked over to her desk and retrieved a small purple bottle from the cupboard. Its shape resembled a beast’s horn, and Laura displayed it with a satisfied smile as she approached her daughter.

"Do you remember this?" she asked, showing the bottle to Sarah.

"Mother! I am not sure I can trust you with that. It’s too dangerous," Sarah recalled the dangerous bottle that could put lives at risk.

"I thought you trusted me?" Laura prodded, attempting to manipulate her emotionally, as she often did.

"But, Mother, you know how close that came to killing you. He’s a rogue, and they are already unpredictable. This potion could drive him mad," Sarah objected to the idea of using the bottle’s contents to threaten the rogue.

If she died in the process of wanting to achieve her goal, then what was the essence of the risk? Some things shouldn’t be risked and to her, this couldn’t be risked. Unless, there was an assurance that their plan wouldn’t fail no matter what.

She wanted control over the rogue but not at the cost of her or her mother’s lives. The liquid in the bottle was known as the "Crazy Drop," named after a man who had used it and gone insane. They had changed the name to avoid scaring people. It had the power to make anyone lose control of their mind upon ingestion. Although there was an antidote, if it wasn’t administered in time, the individual under the potion’s influence could go permanently insane.

"Don’t you see? That’s the point. He won’t want to go mad, so he will need the antidote. That’s where our plan comes into play," Laura explained.
