After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again -
Chapter 31: They Are Watching Me
Chapter 31: Chapter 31: They Are Watching Me
After this little interlude, the remaining days at the farm were pretty uneventful.
Florence Fuller used the excuse that her cold hadn’t cleared up to move into the guest room on the second floor. She followed Old Mr. Gardiner wherever he went during the day, and Luke Gardiner hardly bothered her, so she enjoyed a few comfortable days.
On the day they left the farm, Old Mr. Gardiner sighed repeatedly in the car on the way back: "I wanted the couple to bond, but it ended up being like they were here accompanying me on a holiday."
Uncle Andre was driving and comforted Old Mr. Gardiner: "It’s all right; the young master and young mistress have a long future ahead. You can rest assured, sir."
Old Mr. Gardiner let out a deep sigh.
Florence Fuller and Luke Gardiner were still in the same car, provided by the old house, and drove straight back there. Florence took a call and needed to make a trip to the company.
She told the driver the address.
The driver glanced at Luke Gardiner in the rearview mirror.
"Then let’s go to your company first, and once you’re done, we’ll head back to the old house together."
Florence Fuller shook her head: "I won’t go back to the old house, just drop me off downstairs at the company."
Luke Gardiner raised an eyebrow: "Old Mr. Gardiner mentioned having dinner at the old house. If I go back alone, he’ll definitely think I’ve upset you and now you’re not coming back. He’ll beat me up for sure."
Florence Fuller lowered her gaze: "Alright."
The car stopped in front of the company, and as Florence Fuller got out and closed the car door, Luke Gardiner also got out.
He took a look around the company and noticed Florence Fuller staring at him: "What?"
"You won’t wait in the car?"
"Who knows how long you’ll be busy working? It’s boring to stay in the car the whole time. I’ll go up with you and look around."
Florence Fuller looked at him: "You could go somewhere else to kill time. I’ll call you once I’m done, and we can head back to the old house together."
Luke Gardiner saw that she really didn’t want him to follow her. He approached Florence Fuller: "I think I’ve been behaving reasonably well these days, not bothering you. I’m just going up with you; I won’t cause any trouble. You can leave me in your office or the lounge to wait."
Florence Fuller didn’t feel like arguing with him: "Suit yourself."
She turned and walked inside, with Luke Gardiner leisurely following behind her.
They entered the elevator, and several employees got in on different floors, all politely greeting Florence Fuller, then their eyes fell on the handsome Luke Gardiner next to her.
Returning from the farm that day, she was dressed quite plainly in a vacation-themed floral long dress paired with a knitted sweater. Her long curly hair was tied in a loose low ponytail, giving her a gentle and intellectual look.
Next to her, Luke Gardiner was also dressed casually, in long pants and a trench coat. His naturally tall and striking appearance made him look fashionable and sophisticated.
They matched well.
Seeing these people sneaking glances at him, Luke Gardiner lowered his voice and leaned closer to Florence Fuller: "They’re looking at me."
Although he lowered his voice, everyone in the elevator heard it clearly, and they all lowered their heads.
Florence Fuller shot him a glance: "Will you lose a piece of flesh from being looked at?"
Luke Gardiner gave her an amorous look: "I’m afraid you might get happy."
Florence Fuller rolled her eyes and gave a dismissive "hmph."
As they reached the thirtieth floor, Florence Fuller stepped out of the elevator. Lily Hart and Lily Lancaster were already waiting for her, and they were surprised to see Luke Gardiner: "Boss..."
Luke Gardiner raised an eyebrow: "Hello."
Lily Hart and Lily Lancaster exchanged glances, their mind racing on what to say.
"Hello, President Gardiner..." Lily Lancaster smiled.
Lily Hart also added: "Hello, President Gardiner."
"Florence." Chloe Quinn also appeared from around the corner: "Your man..."
Her words stopped because she saw Luke Gardiner.
What wind blew this playboy here?
Florence Fuller walked over: "Where’s the person?"
"Initially, they were going to wait in your office, but I lured them to the lounge area." Chloe Quinn politely nodded toward Luke Gardiner, acknowledging his presence: "Why did he come?"
Florence Fuller: "Just got back from the farm and took a call from Lily Lancaster on the way over."
She finished speaking and turned to look at Luke Gardiner, who waved his hand: "You go ahead."
Florence Fuller looked at Lily Hart: "Take him to the lounge area by the floor-to-ceiling windows to wait."
"Oh, okay." Lily Hart responded.
"I’ll just look around then." Luke Gardiner said to her retreating figure.
Florence Fuller turned and entered the lounge.
Laura Yates saw her coming, gave a cold snort: "Called you for three days without a single answer and had to come to your company to find you."
Florence Fuller sat opposite her: "No time."
Looking at her outfit today, not typical work attire, she guessed the situation: "You’ve been out playing."
Florence Fuller took a sip of the water in front of her: "Let’s talk business."
Laura Yates looked at her furiously: "You’re only concerned about those shares, why not ask how long I’ve waited here for you."
Florence Fuller folded her arms, her gaze cold as she looked at her.
Laura Yates, feeling uneasy under her direct gaze, rummaged through her bag and slammed the documents on the table: "I really owe you and deserve to have waited this long."
Florence Fuller gave a cold smile: "It’s true I didn’t answer your calls, got you right, I was out on vacation. But since you came to the company, I’m sure my secretary told you I wasn’t here; you’ve been sitting here probably ignoring what she said."
Laura Yates: "And you still showed up."
"You’re lucky, I happened to come back today. Otherwise, you’d be sitting here all day only to see the entire company leave after office hours." Florence Fuller said.
Laura Yates coldly snorted: "Don’t forget what you promised me."
Florence Fuller picked up the share transfer contract, flipped through it, and shook her head in dissatisfaction: "Missing one clause."
Laura Yates frowned: "I’ve already signed it, all you need to do is sign it. What else do you want? Want me to go ask your dad for more?"
"I wouldn’t mind that, if you could get something from him." Florence Fuller pointed at the share transfer contract: "You didn’t include the clause stating the transfer is voluntary."
"What’s the difference?"
"Of course, there’s a difference!" Florence Fuller said: "To prevent you from coming to me in the future with any nonsense, I fear this transfer might later turn into me coercing you. But you’re doing this for an agreement between Clara Fuller and me, and I won’t be short-changed. After all, as a businessperson, my reputation is important."
Laura Yates was exasperated: "You’re just like Michael Fuller, always looking out for number one. Am I that kind of person?"
"I wouldn’t know." Florence Fuller took the share transfer contract out and handed it to Lily Lancaster waiting outside, instructing her to draft a new one, then returned to look at Laura Yates: "Clara Fuller is."
"What nonsense are you spouting!" Laura Yates frowned: "I’ve always known you didn’t like her."
"Does she know you’re using your shares to swap for her entry into Light Industries with me?" Florence Fuller watched her expression: "Oh~ seems like she doesn’t."
