Chapter 30: Flat As A Calm Lake
Chapter 30: Flat As A Calm Lake
Ten minutes later, they returned—matching in various shades of royal workout wear.
Jared wore a scarf, somehow and his shirt read: "Namast’ay Away from My Sister."
Lucien’s said nothing, but it was a tactical black that dared the sun to challenge it, with only the kingdom’s crest stitched over his heart.
Callum sparkled, probably unintentionally.
Felix, hair tied in a half-bun, had pastel hues that matched the garden blooms and wore painter’s gloves, even to yoga.
Lance wore a tank top that read: "Stretch and Conquer."
Marcus wore loose silks and carried a towel like a prophet of calm.
And Leo... wore goggles. No one asked why.
But it was Evelisse who stole the attention.
She wore soft white linen with tiny sea-blue embroidery along the hem. Her ribbon matched the scroll’s tie. She looked like a little breeze that had wandered into court.
They turned as Evelisse arrived, each offering smiles, bows, or cheeky salutes.
Together, they walked toward the garden—no guards, no entourage, just eight royal siblings and one fluffy secret system whispering encouragement to its favorite host.
"To yoga practice!" Fluffy whooped.

The garden smelled of jasmine and fresh grass.
Queen Seraphina stood on one foot near the fountain, her arms raised elegantly, hair tied in a loose braid. King Aldric stood beside her—struggling to balance, grimacing slightly.
"Keep your heel firm, darling," Seraphina said without opening her eyes.
"I am trying," Aldric muttered.
"Use your inner core."
"My inner core left after our second child."
Birds chirped overhead as if they too were following the Queen’s rhythm.
But Evelisse had stopped walking.
Her eyes locked—unintentionally—on Queen Seraphina.
More specifically... her chest.
’Oh stars above...’
The Queen stood with perfect posture, arms raised in a flowing stretch that made her form look like a sculpture from a forgotten goddess temple. Her royal-blue yoga tunic clung smoothly over curves that, until now, Evelisse had thought were theoretical. The Queen’s usual flowing court gowns must have possessed some sort of enchantment because they had hidden everything.
Hips like a dancer.
Waist like a storybook heroine.
And then... her bust.
’That’s not cleavage. That’s a diplomatic summit waiting to happen.’
Evelisse couldn’t help but stare. For a second. Or two. Or five.
’How was that even legal in royal attire? And why—why is no one else reacting—?’
She blinked and looked sideways.
Lucien was calmly adjusting his arm warmers, stoic as ever. Marcus was tying his laces, humming. Jared had his shirt half-off but was more focused on whether his hair bounced when he turned. Callum and Felix were comparing wristbands. Leo was attempting handstands. And Lance had clearly already stolen one of Aldric’s protein bars.
None of them... were reacting.
Not one startled glance. Not even a respectful double-take.
’Are they just... used to it?’
Evelisse’s mouth parted slightly in disbelief. ’Has this been right in front of everyone this whole time and I’m the only one discovering it like it’s some ancient treasure?’
Instead, her eyes instinctively dropped to her own flat chest.
Flat as a calm lake.
No waves. No ripples. Just royal emptiness beneath the velvet ribbon of her gown
Still seven.
Even at seventeen, her previous body had barely outgrown tank tops. She’d blamed the cancer, blamed stress, hormones, the lack of comfort food during chemo.
A vivid memory of her old life stirred—hospital gowns, dressing rooms, standing under fluorescent lights with folded arms as her mother whispered, "You don’t even have anything to show for your sorry state, you must not be my daughter with those disgraceful washboard of a chest."
But now, in the presence of Queen Seraphina?
’Maybe I was doomed from the start.’
Just then, Fluffy appeared beside her like an unwanted conscience with fur.
"Eyes up, Princess," he whispered. "You’ve been staring for a solid minute. If you drool, I’m calling a system intervention."
’I was not—!’
"You were. And don’t say it’s because you’re a kid now. You’ve got a teenage brain in a baby princess body. That makes it weird."
’She’s just... so majestic. I didn’t know she had those.’
"She birthed seven sons, and a daughter—you!" Fluffy said. "What did you think, she stored them in jars?"
’That is not how I imagined this scene starting.’
Fluffy flicked his tail. "Well, keep it up and you’ll be grounded for peeking at the royal rack."
Evelisse looked away, ears blazing.
She inhaled deeply, trying to exhale the awkwardness out of her body like steam from a kettle.
The Queen turned just then, her face glowing with serenity. "Good morning, my darlings."
Evelisse tried not to look again. She really did.
But the memory was now etched into her mind.
’Respect the bosom. Respect the bosom. Respect—’
"I think she broke," Fluffy mumbled beside her.
Evelisse jerked her gaze upward. Her cheeks burned so hot she feared the candle of shame had been relit on her face. She whispered a silent prayer for mental reset.
And just as she managed to compose herself, King Aldric stepped forward, crossing his arms.
"Everyone here?"
Lucien stepped forward with crisp formality. "Yes, Your Majesty."
Marcus added, "And we come bearing a unanimous decision."
Aldric blinked. "Unanimous? Already?"
Even Seraphina turned with surprise. "You reached agreement that fast?"
Still red in the face—though no longer for the same reason—Evelisse stepped forward with both hands cradling the scroll like it was spun from glass.
"We’ve chosen," Evelisse said, stepping forward. "A destination. Together."
She glanced at her mother quickly—this time, eyes above the neckline. Seraphina’s lips curled into a warm smile. Graceful. Regal.
And completely unaware of the teenage identity crisis she’d just triggered.
’Maybe I’ll develop later,’ Evelisse thought as she passed the scroll. ’In like... ten years. Or in my next life. Again.’
Evelisse nodded and handed her mother the scroll.
Seraphina untied the ribbon gently, unrolling it.
Aldric stepped closer to read over her shoulder.
Silence.
Then—
"That’s..." Aldric whispered, voice strange. "Where we met."
Seraphina went pink. "Aldric!"
The brothers exploded.
"Wait, WHAT?"
