A Serpent's Tale
Chapter 321: Funeral

Chapter 321: Funeral

"We... Will think about it..." Ash answered for the both of them.

"That’s fine. Neither of you have an obligation to show up, if you feel like coming then come, if you don’t, then don’t worry, you don’t have to."

"Thank you, we probably won’t, but thank you for understanding regardless of what we choose to do." Ash said with an appreciative smile.

I nodded back at them and we all headed back to our rooms, wanting to just sleep the day away.

I personally struggled to sleep for some reason, whether it was because I couldn’t get my mind off of what happened yesterday, or if it was because that gnawing hunger had returned.

At least I had several hours to fall asleep.

A couple of days had passed, and it was now Stellithar, the day of the funeral for Vishyra, Zyshoraa and Rakzaa.

Ba’arhim said that it would start at noon, but I got there an hour early, yet the cemetery was already filled to the brim with a variety of people.

Many, many adventurers were here. I’d say maybe over half the guild, staff included were attending as well.

And all the way at the front, I could see a sickly Serpentine weeping silently as people paid their respects to three triplets.

Off to the side was a long line of people, leading to their coffins where they rested.

I decided to join said line and wait so that I may give them my blessings. I do technically have the blood of our Goddess in me after all, that has to count for something, right?

After an unknown period of time later, but still before noon, I was about to reach their coffins.

Just a few people ahead of me before I would be able to get my say. I didn’t plan to say anything, just offer up a prayer and my? Blessings? Not quite sure how that works still.

A few minutes later, and it was my turn. I went up to the are where the coffins were laid out, placing my hand on the middle one.

They were laid next to each other, one in the middle, and two to the sides at slight angles, similar to that of a clock.

I closed my eyes and offered up my prayer to the heavens, and to the Goddess Astraa, to give them peace, and happiness in heaven.

As I gave my prayer, I felt something sting in my right eyes, making it hard to concentrate.

Scratching my eyelid didn’t help as it started to spread until it fully engulfed my eye, spreading over to the other one.

"Uh, you okay there?" I was vaguely aware of someone calling out to me as I rubbed my eyes, trying to make the stinging go away.

But it didn’t work, and the sting pain slowly turned into a searing one. I clutched my hand over my eyes as I began groaning in pain, my claws tearing into my skull slightly.

(MEANWHILE! In the Heavens)

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Yesh was currently screaming like he was powering up. He didn’t need to do this, he was just doing it because he wanted to.

His real goal was the resurrection of the three girls that Traytora was next to.

And to do so, he grabbed Asmodeus, his wife and Traytora’s mother, Astraa, the Goddess of the Naga and the souls of the deceased girls.

Everyone in the heavenly and damned planes could clearly see that he was doing something, but nobody could understand why.

(A few hours ago on the Heavenly Throne.)

Yesh was looking down at the world. He’d been watching the recent events surrounding Traytora unfold and those close to her.

And he was irritated.

Yesh had grown tired of just sitting on his ass and doing nothing the whole time. And when he heard about the funeral, he decided to do something about it.

So, he stood up from his throne, which was just a symbolic thing really, he let people sit in it all the time when he wasn’t using it.

His actions didn’t go unnoticed though, as his head angels Gabriel and Micheal came over to inquire.

"My lord, is something wrong? Your face says that your about to do something extremely abstentious." Micheal said with worry as he rubbed his hands together.

Gabriels’s reaction on the other hand, "Father, please, whatever it is, we can handle it, no need for you to interfere." He was worried for a different reason.

"No." Was Yesh’s reply. "I’m tired of sitting on my ass all day and doing fuck all all the time."

"Lord! Don’t swear. It’s sacrilegious." Micheal screamed in a failed attempt to hush Yesh.

"Oh shut up, don’t conform yourself to human standards, you can say whatever you like up here, it won’t condemn you so long as it isn’t too heinous or actually go violently against my teachings. This isn’t the Old Testament era."

The two angels had no rebuttal to that, mainly because Yesh was right. But also because they were afraid.

Seeing that the both of them had nothing to say, Yesh went off to do what he wanted. But before he left, he said one last thing to the pair.

"Don’t interfere."

He said that with such dominion and authority that the two angels were literally frozen in place, unable to move out of fear of the repercussion.

They wanted to rebuke, to rebel, but they knew better than that. They saw Lucifer’s fall, and they saw what he did to make him the most powerful God in all of existence, besides creation existence.

Yesh then left the realm of his heavenly palace and entered the Serpent’s Den of Dreams, the place where those of Serpentine descent go when they die and are deemed worthy of entering heaven by their respective Deity figure.

And the moment that Yesh entered this specific realm, all the God’s and Goddesses noticed.

The last time he came here they knew exactly why, because of Asmodeus. But this time, they had no clue why he was here. He just kind of showed up unannounced.

And the first person to greet him was Astraa, the Goddess of the Naga. Only she had the bravery to do so after interacting with him once already.

"Uh... Welcome your-"

But before she could speak any further, Yesh stopped her, "Don’t. No prudent or pompous bullshit titles. I’m tired of all that."

"Uhh... W-Well, why... Are you here... Then?" Astraa sputtered in befuddlement.

Yesh answered mysteriously, "You’ll see. But first..."

He reached his hand downward, creating a crack in space into another dimension.

Specifically Hell. And even more accurately, the List Ring.

The exact place he broke through to, was Asmodeus’ bedroom, where he was having sex with his wife.

Or at least he was going to before the hand of God came in and stopped, just for a second, before it came down and grabbed both of them, pulling them up into the Serpent’s Den of Dreams.

"AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!" Katraa screamed as she coiled her tail around her husband, holding on for dear life, or death. Or spirit...

Either way, they were dragged up from hell in heaven by Yesh.

Asmodeus was annoyed. Astraa was confused. And Katraa was scared.
