Chapter 320: Stories (4/4)

Garrick then spoke about each girl individually, their quirks, their personalities and of course their beauty.

All of them had red scales and the order in which Garrick described them was in order from oldest, or first to hatch from their eggs, to the youngest, the last to hatch.

Vishyra was a steadfast woman who wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, would always put her sisters need above her own. With red scales and surprisingly blue hair, with a toned body, filled with hidden muscles, she had a mature charm to her.

Zyshoraa was more modest and noble, having a grace that was beyond someone in her position. She was always kind and caring to the people she served, was always patient and willing to help an adventurer with any of their needs. With green hair, her looks were modest like her demeanour, yet also had a defined grace to them.

Lastly, Rakzaa, was shy yet rambunctious, always full of energy but always holding back because of her timid nature. At least when she was working. Most people preferred her when she had a few drinks in her after she finished her shift. Which was where her beauty shined the most, with her red hair and her drop-dead gorgeous smile that was free of worry.

All three of them had yellow eyes, a rather uncommon colour among Naga, and the repertoire they had built up could clearly be seen as the light in Garrick and Ba’arhim’s eyes faded the more he spoke of them.

Garrick hadn’t gotten to interact much with Vishyra and Zyshoraa outside of work, but he did go out with Rakzaa a couple of times. And those were apparently the best nights of his life. Probably because he apparently got lucky and slept with her in their most recent, and last, encounter.

I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of misery well up inside of me as I would never get to have an experience with any of them now.

The mood at the table, which had had its food replenished by now, had dropped after that realisation hit us all. The triplets had been taken, and even though I knew that the cult had been dealt with, I was still mad and wished I could kill them myself.

Sadly that wasn’t the case. It was also unfortunate that after hearing all of that, I had lost my appetite. I still felt hungry, but I just couldn’t bring myself to eat anything right now.

I’d probably eat later, but not right now.

"That was a great night for me... Not only because I got laid with the cutest of the triplets, but also because she confessed her feelings for me..." I saw all life leave Garrick’s body the moment he said all of that.

"She didn’t say she loved me or anything, but just that she had some feelings for me and wanted to get to know them better with me... And I felt the same..."

The mood shifted into a much darker and depressing atmosphere.

"We only ever got the chance to go out once together, during the festival... And then..."

"I think you’ve said enough Garrick." Ba’arhim placed a hand tenderly on Garrick’s shoulder as he started to cry, likely due to finally realising what has happened. As if it never properly set in before until now.

We all stayed silent for a moment, mourning the loss of the triplets, even though most of us had never met them.

Regardless, all of us were sad for our own reasons.

Garrick was sad because he’d lost someone whom he loved and loved him back.

Ba’arhim was sad because he had survivors guilt and regrets for not saving them when he easily could.

I was sad because they all sounded like so much fun and like great people that I’d never get to meet now.

I saw Ash and Asty holding hands, leaning in on one another, probably felt sorry for Garrick because he never got to experience love like they have.

As for Morrigan and David, I think they were just sad because of the endearing way in which Garrick told us about the girls and how touching it was.

Not to mention, hearing about their needless deaths was just saddening on its own. Anyone would become downtrodden upon hearing about it.

I can’t imagine how their mother felt upon hearing the news.

’Oh dear Goddess, she might even have died just hearing about this given her health.’ That thought alone was depressing enough as is considering all the effort they put into taking care of her for so many years.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose your children. Probably similar to what I felt when my mother passed and my father was forced to leave...

After several minutes of silence, I couldn’t bear the thought of not knowing, I needed to know if she was okay. "How... How is their mother..."

The moment I asked I immediately felt a twinge of regret just saying that. It felt wrong to ask, but I had to know.

Ba’arhim was the one to answer my question, "She... Doesn’t know just yet. We’ve had people volunteering to take care of her, stating that that they’re just ill right now, and that the guild wants to repay their positivity by helping her for them."

Hit tone was low and sombre as he continued, "But... I think she’s catching on to us, and slowly coming to the realisation that her daughters won’t be coming back. We didn’t tell her because she might have a heart attack and just straight up die then and there if we do tell her."

"Oh..."

"We’re going to hold their funeral in a couple of days though, if you want to join. It’s going to begin at noon on Mystara. You’re all more than welcome to attend." Ba’arhim offered.

And I accepted, "Thank you... I think I’ll take you up on that offer."

The silence that fell after that moment was deafening. Literally, the muffled noises that could be faintly heard outside before couldn’t be heard anymore by any of us.

It was as if the atmosphere was literally silencing the noise from outside.

The food seemed to have lost all its appeal, which was not great considering we just got it, and I feel like Ba’arhim doesn’t want to continuing his story about the dungeon dive anymore.

For a while, we all just sat there in silence, only the occasional sob could be heard from either Garrick, or the only couple in the room.

At some point the food grew cold and we all decided to just leave. We could maybe finish off the dungeon story another time perhaps.

We all left the room and I went up to the bar to pay for everything that we ordered. I did say that none of the food from the second order that we got was actually eaten.

The serpent behind the counter just nodded solemnly, seemingly understanding what went down and told me the bill.

I paid it and we all left the building, going our separate ways, heading back to our own residences.

The crawl home for the four of us was silent, not a word out of any of us.

When we got back I asked the three of them, "Are any of you going to attend the funeral?"

David shook his head regretfully as he explained why, "Sadly not, I have a meeting with the master about the future of me and the company that day."

I nodded understandingly, and looked to Ash and Asty, to see what their answers were.

"We..."
