A Serpent's Tale -
Chapter 251: Results
Chapter 251: Results
After the twelve of us returned to the orphanage that day, we celebrated with a bit of a feast for a day of hard work. As we felt we deserved it after all the strenuous work we had to do to get here.
And after that we went to bed and woke up late the next morning because we didn’t have anything better to do.
That was actually the only day that we had entrance exams this week, which did surprise me at first, but I got over it quickly.
I decided that today, I would just laze around and do nothing today because the strain that yesterday put on me was rather draining.
Maybe not physically, but more in terms of the stress it put on me mentally, with all of the feats that I pulled.
Anyways, now that all of that was over with, I got out of bed rather late, at nearly ten in the morning.
By the time I got to the dining hall, there wasn’t much food left, so I just took some of what was left and ate it.
But unfortunately, just as I was about to leave after putting my plate and cutlery away to be washed, I ran into the obnoxious and annoying bitch who won’t stop pestering me.
I suppose it was only a matter of time until we saw each other again. I should count myself luck to have not seen her for like over a month now.
"AAAHHHH!!! There you are! I’ve been looking for a chance to find you alone for ages now!"
’Ugh... I really don’t wanna deal with her right now. I just wanna chill and turn my brain off. Why does she have to bother me so?’
She seemed to have noticed this as she asked, "Um, are you okay? You seem rather off."
"I just took my entrance exam for the Academy yesterday. I don’t wanna be bothered by you today." I explained bluntly in a dull tone.
"Gguuuhhhh..." She grit her teeth and clenched her fists as she seemed to struggle with her internal desires.
I took this opportunity to leave, but it seemed that my luck had run out as she actually noticed me doing so this time.
"Hey! I didn’t say you could leave!"
*Sigh* I turned around and looked her square in the eye and used [Petrifying Gaze] to paralyse her for like ten minutes.
Thankfully there weren’t many people left in here, and those that were, were just using this place to hang out with friends so they weren’t paying attention to what just happened.
Anyways, I left and headed to the library to chill out and read some story’s for fun.
I grabbed a book off of the shelf at random from the fairy tale section and went and found a place to sit and read it and began doing so.
The story was titled "The world Serpent" and it was about an ancient serpent that could encompass the world with how big it was...
’This isn’t a story about Ouroboros, is it? Nah, doesn’t feel like it.’
And I was proven right as it was a serpent with a name that wasn’t Ouroboros.
As for the story itself, it was about how he travelled through a new, undiscovered and newborn world...
’The doesn’t feel like a fairy tale at all... Eh, whatever.’
Once I finished that story, I then got up and put it back and headed back to the dining hall for some lunch.
It was quite packed since most every kid is off of school this month. They get the whole month off to fuck around and have fun before they have to go back to school again.
Which also made it easier to hide from that bitch because there were a lot of similar colours in here, the most common one being red.
I found my friends quite easily because Ash was grey and David was full scales, making it easy for me to find them.
Even so, the room still wasn’t full because it was built with excess room in mind.
Either way, I spent some time with them and went back to the library afterwards to resume relaxing and reading.
Now that I think about it, I’m surprised that that bitch hasn’t tried looking for me here at all. Whatever the case, I’m glad she hasn’t bothered me here.

A couple of weeks had passed and it was now the middle of the week Umbralis, the fifth week, on Pyronis.
Everyone who partook in the entrance exams was now currently assembled in the assembly hall within the Academy, or Institute, whatever you wanna call it.
And the reason we were called here was to see who had passed and who had failed.
I was organised within the group of orphans, which was more than the people I remember attending our class. There were an extra three people.
Those people happened to be that bitch and two of her cronies. The only ones who seemed to have stayed with her after she met me and became... Whatever she is now.
’Goddess I hope I don’t have to deal with her shit here too if I pass.’
"May I have your attention please?" An elderly voice called out to everyone.
The murmuring of everyone here stopped as we all looked up at the stage where an old man was.
It wasn’t a serpentine though, it was a fox? I think? I can’t quite tell since my group is shoved all the way over to the right side of the room, which was quite large.
The old man seemed to look over at us, or more specifically, he looked over at me? And maybe a few others before a cloud of smoke enveloped him and my guess was proven right when his foxy features came out in full bloom.
Everyone in the room gasped at this sudden surprise as they all expected this guy to be a serpentine, and probably also the headmaster of this branch of the Institute.
"Only five of you were able to see through that. You five have passed and are guaranteed entry into your chosen course regardless of your exam results." Everyone began to murmur again, this time in annoyance.
"With that out of the way, allow me to introduce you to the headmaster of this branch of The Gilded Ophidian Institute!" He gestured off to his right, which would be our left, and then promptly walked off stage in the opposite direction as the real headmaster came out.
It was an elderly Lamia lady, not quite as old looking as the fox, but still fairly old compared to most people that I see on the streets. She still looks amazing for her age though, props to her for it.
"Greetings, I am the headmaster of this branch of The Gilded Ophidian Institute, my name is Layzera Amoranaa. You shall address me as miss Amoranaa, understood?" The headmaster introduced herself.
"Understood miss Amoranaa." Everyone cried out in response and understanding, including me.
"Now, I would like to introduce you to someone very special. This person has come a very long way to teach you youngsters some magic for a couple of years whilst she is here. She will also be announcing your results as well. Please welcome the great coven witch mother Morrigan!"
’What?’
The crowd gave a cheer for the witch as she walked on stage and took the headmasters place in the centre. The headmaster was clapping as well as she took a spot behind Morrigan.
When Morrigan stopped waving back at us in thanks, she held her hand high and lowered it, indicating for silence, which she got after a little bit.
"Thank you all for the appreciation. But let’s get down to business, I’m here to announce the people who have passed. But I’m not going to drag this out, so I’m going to use magic to do it instead."
She clapped her hands, the sound resounding throughout the entire room, and brought them apart a little bit, showing us a glowing sky-blue light between her palms.
She then threw her hands out towards the crowd, and a similar but smaller blue light appeared above everyone’s heads. Where she then explained what she was going to do.
"I’m now going to announce everyone’s results. If the light above your head turns green, you passed, if it’s red, you failed. And once everyone has received their results, I will change five of them to gold, you were the ones who saw through the old man’s illusions."
There was a light murmur as everyone was nervous about whether or not they passed. I wasn’t worried since this is the same Morrigan that I met in the Illuminati.
Plus, I think I did very well on the exams anyways, not to mention I saw through that foxes’ deceitful tricks. With that, I was basically guaranteed to pass regardless.
It seemed like Morrigan was going to go from her right to left, as she started from the complete opposite end of the hall.
I sighed as I just stood there and waited for her to get over here. Little Asty grabbed my hand because she was nervous, but I gave her a reassuring smile and gripped her hand warmly and she calmed down.
And after what felt like unbearable hours of silent nothing, Morrigan finally reached our side of the room.
