Chapter 45: Buying the Club (2)
Chapter 45: Buying the Club (2)
"Let’s see," Sophia whispered.
With a swift hand movement, Kieran let go of her, gave her a last reassuring smile, and walked over to the club’s DJ.
Drawing closer to him, he asked, "Can you turn the music down for moment, buddy?"
The guy was tall; his entire body was covered in tattoos and a cigarette was hanging from his lips. He surely snickered, much like the reaction Kieran expected.
"Tch... Who are you to ask that?"
Kieran patted the guy’s shoulder and said, "Don’t worry. I won’t kick you out when I buy the club."
The guy was about to say something else when Kieran took out his BLACK business card, which was the same time that he grabbed the microphone.
After looking over the card in a second, realisation kicked in for the guy. Now, seeing that, Kieran tried asking him to really turn the music down. But the guy had already gone on to do so by himself.
The jazz vanished from the club in an instant, making every astonished nightcrawler stare at the DJ’s way.
He himself shouted, "Please try to keep your shit together, petty ladies and gentlemen. The real man wants to talk!"
People murmured more. And that was when Kieran brought the microphone closer to his mouth and asked,
"Can I get the manager here for a moment?"
His voice echoed down to the bar corner, where the slender club manager was having a drink. She sighed as she recognised his voice, mumbling, "It’s that fucker again," before grabbing a microphone by her side as well. She then responded, "Here, Mr Holland."
People raised questions and glances of disbelief as they heard the woman address this guy by that surname. The one everyone knew from the internet.
One guy amidst the crowd stuck his finger towards Kieran, questioningly, and asked, "Are you really... that trillionaire? The owner of the big empire?"
Kieran held on, not responding yet.
Then the guy continued, spreading his arms with a slight shrug, "I don’t believe, though. I mean, why will you be partying in a local club when you’re someone like that?"
Without anyone asking, someone who had control over the club’s lights turned the spotlight on Kieran. Maybe the manager asked for that, or they just did it of their own free will from the control room.
But what was most important was that everyone now saw his face clearly. And recognised him.
"Oh my days! It’s really him!"
"Damn it... I should get a picture!"
"Why’s he low-key unreasonable? Dudes like him always have a problem with paparazzi."
But Kieran didn’t have time to explain anything to anyone or justify himself. He was already running out of time.
He asked out loudly, "Can I get a rough estimate of how much it costs to build this place?"
"If it’s the club you want..." the club manager replied, immediately, though in a slow tone, "... I’m more than pleased to give it up to you. Anything for you, sir."
... wow, I wish people could respect me like this too; that particular slightly deep voice stood out the most from the crowd.
Kieran then nodded his head and stated, "I will be buying then. Heard a club is built on an average of a million..."
Everyone fell silent, their eyes not moving from Kieran.
Then he soon pronounced, "So, I’m buying it for three million."
No one could say anything but just gasp and watch Kieran with parted lips. Three million dollars... Just like that? As though it were some money for drinks or barbecue?
Even the manager was dumbstruck in her seat, though trying hard not to show it. Her chest pounded. She needed nothing more than four hundred thousand dollars to build this place, and...
She was getting this much for selling it? It is even enough for her to build the next biggest club in the city!
Kieran soon transferred the money to her bank account. He knew he should have handed her a cheque instead, but didn’t he say earlier he was here as a free guy?
Well, his lawyer should have been here to seal the agreement too... But it wasn’t like anyone has the nerve to try to cheat a businessman of all people.
After declaring the club’s ownership to that lady, as he said while pointing at Sophia, they both left in his purple Ferrari. And the woman promised to send the ownership documents to his penthouse the next day.
Sophia had assumed Kieran would head to the hotel again, but instead, he asked for her house’s postal code.
Then he entered it on his car’s map. They soon reached there, which was the front of a condominium, and Sophia’s room was on the fourth floor.
Inside, it wasn’t as bad as Kieran thought. Even better than the flat he used to live in. The air was filled with the lavender smell from a hair cleanser, everywhere tidy and looking nice.
Sophia drew closer to him with a smile, her hands running down his shirt as she loosened the buttons. Kieran didn’t stop her, and he stared into her eyes.
She said, "Didn’t expect someone like you to want to come to my house. You like me that much?"
Like?
Sophia soon pulled down his shirt. Kieran then held the strap of her gown which hung by her shoulder, and asked...
"Can I help you with this too?"
But there was a sparkle of hesitation in Sophia’s eyes. She breathed out loud, looking sideways, away from Kieran...
He leaned closer, held her jaw and turned her face at his...
He asked with a hint of concern, "What’s it?"
Sophia told him, her chest tightening, "You didn’t answer my question earlier."
"Which is?"
"... Do you like me... or you’re doing all this because you see me as a hooker?" Sophia asked. "You showed something similar last time. By paying me for touching my body when I didn’t ask for one."
Kieran stared at her, tilting his head as though assessing her. He had always taken her as a bold and extremely self-made lady, but this was the first time she was so vulnerable before him.
He then asked her, "But didn’t you collect it too?" He raised an eyebrow. "You collected the money they gave you. Didn’t you also come after me for that?"
